Best possible light setup for 2x2 (mini cfl vertical?)

Hey guys,

I got this 2x2 box with the following strains in it. I was thinking about what would be the best light setup for this.

A 250w HPS will be too hot, I was thinking about 150w HPS. but then I also thought of this vertical style grow, this seems to be becoming an era of vertical setups. I reckon they are very efficient too. I wonder how well this would work.

With this little space, they should be ready for the flip in a week or two.

Please tell me what you would do with a 2x2x5 hut with these girls.

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

looking good so far

i had almost the same tent 2x2x5
i used a 250w hps, 200cfm 4" windtunnel fan, 4"x12" carbon Fresh filter, 2gl pots filled with promix.

if you dont have the venting setup correct you will have heat issues

a 150hps could do the job and the cfl's althought good for micro grows i would not go with them for this tent setup.

i have seen a bunch of other grows on this site that use 2x2x5 tents with 250hps..check the 250 watt club thread ;)

A lot of people use 250 watts hps in your size tent with no probs. If you want to go vertical with floros, look into 55 watt pll's as they are way more efficient than cfl and would hang nicely vertically. The ballasts can go outside too.

Thank you good fellows, I was really busy today and didn't get a chance to think much about this. Your inputs sound good. I am just worried about the 250 cuz it gets very very hot in my room.

Will do a lot thinking tonight and come back to discuss, i will also follow up on your ideas.
Mean while any more ideas, keep em coming.

As always you guys fucking rock for giving great advice.

You gotta use the bigger lamp: 250w/4 sq ft.= 62.5 watts per square foot, which is in the optimal range, IMO. With that lamp, you are talking about nearly doubling your yield over a 150 or some cfls.

250 watts is not at all difficult to keep cool, man. A DIY cool tube is easy and cheap to make. You can also make a duct blower with an 8" stationary desk fan, a 8" to 6" duct reducer and some 6" ducting, which will save you $120 over a real inline fan. I dont think you have the room for a vertical set up with only 6 larger plants, I'd just hang the light horizontally.

With four different strains, you are going to need to build a screen so they all stay the same height. If you let them stretch untrained, you are going to have plants getting blocked out by their more vigorous competitors.

Thank you brother, your advice was terrific.

I did a lot of thinking and you guys are right, 250w hps will be way more worth it. so that is what its gonna be. Cheers everyone for your help.

600 watt led with a scrog net is the best option for a 2x2 tent. You can keep things easily cooled with a cheap 10" can fan.

Got them 12" away with no burns

Vipar LED 600 is running cool 20 hours a day

5 gallon airpots from seed

I Use Canna Cocco but have seen the monster scrog havests when using DWC

10" can fan will keep it cool
Interior ventilation: GrowLush Hydro clip fan
Vipar LED from ebay 600 Watt
exausted out into a 10" carbon filter (yea backwards it works like a charm)
3x 5 gallon Air Pots
Medium: Canna Cocco 100% no perlite needed when using the airpots
Light Cycle: 20:4
Strains:
White Widow Auto
Northern Lights Auto

PH of water : 5.5
EC levels 1.3-1.8
Humidity 55-75
Temps: 70-80

Using a ph pen, Ec trunchent (stick)

Using Canna Nutes with all additives
Also using:
Cal mag
Epsom Salt
Silica Majic

250 W HPS with Cooltube (or 150W without )will do the trick =)
Without CT room gets easy 8-10 °C warmer in the tent than outside, with Cooltube maybe about 5 °C more.

Even with 2 PC-Fans in a row it´s possible to vent it, tryed this setup in the past (works great).

I run 400W at 2x2 space with Cooltube and TD-350 silent fan @150V.
But have much more height (about 7-8).

If you buy an switchable ballast you can veg with 150W MH and flower later with 250 W HPS. Saves $$$ on the long run and digital ballasts are not getting so hot.
