Thinking about it. SHould i go out doors this season.

Im in a very humid and hot enviroment. subtropic. on the coast near the ocean with sandy soil. VERY humid. mold will def be a prob.

I live at the end of my town where the woods starts.. I can get into the woods easily while walking my dog. feels safer than parking a car on the side of the road near woods. we have a lot of cops and a very unmj friendly place. I was thinking about packing up 6 clones in a manpurse satchel type bag... i think backpacks while walking around a neighbor hood is suspecious..

I live near a airforce base.. the air strip of the afb is about 20 miles away but planes are always flying over and helis..

from clone the strains im considering. i have nirvana papaya (about 70percen sativa, heavy yielder.. looks to be very mold resistent and can handle high temps)

mandala strain that is about 50percent sativa.. its very vigorus grower and has been grown out door by a friend it did good but yielded little due to late season planting. it has denser nugs tho and im not sure if mold will start ot get to them..

both strains go about 8-9weeks.

The weather will get very wet around that time. we start getting a lot of rain and hurricanes during may-june..

our frost date is early feb. right now temps are 69hi -55 low humidity around 60 percent.. light rains.. its perfect for young plants i think right now...

SOOO those are the details..

WOuld you grow in my area if you were me? If not why?

Do you feel that the military base near by is a huge security risk?

I feel like growing out doors is way riskier than indoors.. as far as getting busted.. but then again the ods are in ur favor that if ur site is discovered.. u will not be around. and u will know when this has happend. so its realitivly safe if u use comon sense. a big risk of growing out doors is having to drive in a vehicle with plants.. u can get pulled over.. i feel that since i can walk this is much safer..

how do u feel about my strains? what would u grow in this enviroment?

When would u plant? would u plant all 6 in the same site or 2 sites.

thanks for all the info.

sound like your in my area. Obama's neighborhood on the east coast :)

I'd stay away from fat chunky buds, I'd go for some haze plants or haze hybrids. Your going to want more than half sativa plants with mold being your issue.

The fact that your grow is on a flight path for jets is great. Those boys have their hands full flying and the whole approach route will be highly restricted to Leo, so no choppers driven by locals. You will have to amend that sandy soil with organic matter, pro mix will work. Go Sativa hybrids and use that long season as well as the Sativas natural ability to fight mold. At least digging in that sandy soil will be a breeze. Good luck

ive been wondering about this. i think i found the perfect outdoor spot in my area except for the air traffic. it is directly under final approach for a local airport. the airport has medium to light traffic but the type of traffic is what is stopping my groundbreaking.
i used to hang out at the same airport and have seen the state choppers sittin on the pads several times, even met the piolet once. i also have military flying over daily but i dont think it would be as much of a threat as that damn state chopper. would i be crazy to put a clone or 2 here?? ive found several spots but this just seems to be the best so far

Its worth a try you probably wont have any LEO fly over problems. I wouldn’t worry too much about strain selection now just have fun with it. If soil is sandy consider amending with coco bricks very easy to carry.

One careful consideration is water. Is water near by and if not how hard will it be to tend to them? Sandy soil means les water retention. Maybe you get a lot of rain since you are in humid conditions.

I don’t necessarily agree with outdoor growing being more dangerous. In my time on this site 90-95% of busts are indoors but just my 2 cents.

Totally concur with ham and ronbo... that afb will likely preclude leo flyover. Sandy is good, no perlite needed, but you will need to add humus (I use compost or mushroom compost). I always prepare holes first, as stealthily as possible, let them sit and "cook" a month or so, then sneak in and transplant. Good luck, be careful, and use your head.

Hey thanks a lot guys.. Just the support I needed. My Girls hates the sound of it and thinks im a complete idiot.. but the fact is its pretty hard to find one plant in a sea of plants... esp where people dont frequent.

I didnt think about that with the military.. I guess u guys are right .. no probs with leo..

I guess i was hearing chopers all the time and getting freaked but.... they are mili choppers. can a hand full of plants be spoted in a dense forest? from air .. im sure a couple dozen.. but i think i can blen them in well.

so im thinking humus and pultry manure.. ive been wanting to use poultry for years.. some people swear by it.. I just dont like messing with manures.... but its going to need nutes out there in the wild.

I like the sound of pre preparing your site... pile up some leaves and stuff and it will turn into some nice compost and mulch..

im thinking ill use mulch.. maybe rubber? does rubber do better? and some of those water crystal things.... a nice gallon jug of water with a tiny hole should last pretty long. i think i might do one site at a time so i can bring a gallon jug for each plant.. I should probly dig a hole and put some plastic in it to build a rain water catch so I will have water near by.. Im sure i could find a stream or something since i live near the ocean.. but im not the greatest outdoorsman..

im excited.
This will be fun.

by the way im thinking of using some saran wrap and tape to some how rig a humidity dome for the plants while they are young to keep them warm and moist...

what would be a good way to rig this up to make the plant able to grow out of the dome and push it away??

Well for real, I feel like its a toss up. Might work, might not. It has been well documented that single plants are next to impossible to spot. Even multiple plants spaced correctly is almost impossible. BUT, if they see you or your trail or anything out of the ordinary on the approach to land, BUSTED. Remember the pilots that fly in and out everyday might see something suspicious, and because it is an airfield and it is military, they will investigate. BE CAREFUL. Just might work:)

No domes, no water bottles, no nothing laying around anywhere. Sneak in some Espoma Plant Tone from HD/Lowes . Either find or bring in some organic matter to fatten up the soil. Dig your holes, amend, cover the newly disrupted soil with leaves and shit, then leave, taking all trash. Think about trails you leave and how you can approach your plants without making trails. Let the holes sit for a week or 2, then come and drop the babies in. Wear green clothing and be careful about carrying water or nutes or anything around in the woods. You'll be fine if you are careful.

i agree. leave no trash/evidence behind. whatever you bring in you bring out... if you dont want to mess with manure use wormcast. its what ill be using this season mixed with a little of everything else i use for my indoor stuff.i always check my patches at dusk or later (i like 2AMish with a full moon) and wear natural or dark colors. camo can be had at military surplus for fairly cheap. while your there get you a military folding shovel. they are great for diggin small plots and very portable. walmart sells them in the camping section but they are cheaply made, get the military one. carrying a cooler instead of water jug may be less suspicious

i think a female plant in full bud could be spotted at low altitude. ive rode in a single engine cesna several times. while ive never spotted anyones crop i have counted watermellons in a relatives garden circling at about 500ft. i imagine fat neon green colas would be just as easy to see. i may test it this season if have a plot under final approach

understand the importants of not leaving trash. I plan to wear gloves.. I just dont see very many options as far as water sources.. my dug out water rez would be camoflauged.

good call on espoma i love their products i use it religiously in place of ff peace of mind.. the bitone starter fertilizer.. its got lots of goodies and a nice heaping of myco and benificial bacterial..

guys i just got the most awesome little tool in the world. 3 bucks from walmart.. i needed a compas so i dont get lost in the woods.. randomly picked one up.. when I got home I was happy to find that this bad boy houses a thermometer, a magnifiying glass. 30x, and a whistle..

so now ill know the temps of the site, be able to see the trichs. know the path of the sun, not get lost and more importantly ive trained my dog to come to the whistle.. dogs can hear them for miles.

Does anyone have tips for growing in a humid enviroment thats hot as well... ? what are the best ways to get water to ur outdor site?

the trash thing is the most important. ALWAYS leave with more than you came in with. I would pick up any you see in the area or along the 'paths' you take as well. Reason is if there is lots of trash it will draw people to the site/area just out of curiosity. When we were teens we always cruised in the woods for various reasons....riding our go-carts/dirt bikes, shooting the 22's, getting high, etc. The one thing that always got our attention was when we would find mounds of trash somewhere. Usually belonged to other partier's or hobo's living in them.
Crystal's would be good for water retention and the Espoma products are really nice to work with. Although I like the idea of the coco bricks to add to the soil, how well do they hold water. worm castings would be great and I don't think you would have to add a lot like you would other manures.
Good luck
