ebay tents

I have two ebay tents, but mine have a single zipper with a "D" shaped door. One is about 6 months old, and the other is only a month. They seem to be holding up great!

Light leakage is going to be the main factor to worry about with the cheaper tents, but there is only one way to find out...

IMO the ports for the ducting dont look so hot compared to similar products.

I am happy with my budbox, but I have read that this is not always the case with the larger models. From what I have read the consensus seems to be that Homebox is the superior build.

here is a good article on a comparison of the name brand tents:

nice.

still doesnt say anything about the offbrand ones sold on ebay. I have heard that the HTG tents damn near wont even stand up on their own. wonder what the most important aspect of selecting a tent would be. i suppose it would vary from person to person. but they are giving the secret jardin tents the nod. they are not the most sturdy but meet or beat most of the others in various qualities. ie. lightproof, vent ports ect.

also buying the offbrand bubble bags was a mistake. makes me think.....

^^^^ that is probably the best answer. the ebay tents get a worse rep than they diserve but look at the ducts and see if the flangue is included, focus on air exchange in those puppies.

ya im thinking a DR120 or 150 is in my future. but man. at half the price. if those tents are not jenky and crappy then it is a hard call. but like i said i bout off brand bubble bags and the only bag that catches anyting is the 25 micron bag. plus half of them i had to return once because they had holes in the screens. off topic but an example of buying the "cheaper" product. sometimes you do get what you pay for. any other ebay tent users out there?

not a ebay tent user, but i got 2 secret jardens dr120's that i love. there great for small flowering rooms but lack the head space for large grows, they all have a max height of 7 feet. that seems to be a small problem for me when i flower, also only using 1 600watt per room. the tents a are great for veg, mothers and clones, but for a flowering room, they get packed and problems can arise. air circulation can be a problem, resulting in mold; i was running a 5 bucket dwc in 5 gal containers, got way to big. basic maintenance can be tricky due to the small size; im a tall and big guy so i must be very care full not to do some clumsy act and break something. on the bright side, they work just like they should. contain the light, easy to clean and set up, and very durable. i have been growing in these tents nonstop for almost 2 years and have not had any problems with the tent itself, mold was my fault.

with all that said, i still love these tents and recommend the secret jarden.

I have 2 of those ebay tents. Flanges you have to buy seperately, but even so they are much more affordable than name brand tents. I was also skeptical to purchase but for the price of a 4x8x7 flower tent and a 2x4x5 veg tent I would of only been able to buy a 4x4 darkroom. That to me made it a no brainer. There was a thread in which someone compared all the name brand tents and had a poll, in which I posted my thoughts on the ebay tent, but to paraphrase they are sturdy, have no offgassing issues, provide plenty of air circulation/vents and most importantly half the price. The reason behind the low price is they are wholesalers and thus cut out the middle man. They took me 30 minutes to setup. The tiny tiny pinholes are mostly covered by well placed flaps, and anyone with OCD that absolutely needs there to be no leakage can easily fix those with tape or the likes.

I have read many reviews and threads about tents and a lot of people that bash the ebay tents are the ones who over paid for their name brand tents. Maybe I'm biased but I was a ****s hair away from buying the darkroom at my local hydro store before I changed my mind and took a chance. I inspected the darkroom top to bottom and though it does have some nifty features the ebay tents don't have, they are entirely unnecessary and definately not worth spending twice as much. Its entirely up to the buyer what they want and how much they are willing to spend. I just wanted a basic tent that I could build and tear down quickly while spending the least amount of money. If you are in the same boat buy the ebay tents. If not the darkroom or other brand name tents are probably your best bet. But to dismiss the you get what you paid for saying it's not entirely true when it comes to these tents.

so you find the ebay tents to be pretty well sealed and minimal light leaks. or as many as any other tent with stitching holes and what not.

i have heard from a trusted source that with the DR's and the right speed fan / filter combo they can be virtually scent free.
