Ways To Save Money Thread

How do you save $$?
I'll start.

Color inkjet cartridges from Staples for my basic home printer cost $28.
But on the internet they sell refilled/aftermarket cartridges for 9 bucks! Free shipping and you end up saving a lot.

:)

Just a random tip:

Dont buy kitchen/garbage bags.. Just save all of ur plastic bags from walmart/wherever, and use those.. ask for everything to be double bagged too so you get some extras!

Or ya know.. go green n compost :p

Saves a lil $..

Good thread idea!

pee in the shower and start saving on your water bill immediately :)

connect your tv/pc to power bars so you can shut them off at night when they are not in use, that cut my power bill by alot

Turn off the water and share the cat litter box. You would be amazed at how much money you save.

P.S. 1 bottle of water to shower necessities per week.

when you see non perishables on offer and its a good offer... buy as many of whatever it is as you can afford/think wise/carry home

buy skins/rolling papers in bulk (20 euros per box of 50 packs - or 1 euro plus per pack)

buy nutes in quantity... some of them can be up to half price when you buy 10 liters as opposed to 1.

if you have a cell/mobile phone - call your company and tell them you need a new plan because their competitors give more free minutes and haggle for a better deal.. if you're on pre-pay .. get a plan, its way way cheaper

make sure you're using up your trim in whatever way (hash/edibles) stretches the stash and saves more $$

if you're a beer drinker, try a cheaper brand... most of them are awful but there's a few that are ok if you can find them... again 50% savings on brand names (I buy "scutters"..made by one of the reputable dutch breweries for a supermarket chain - half the price of heineken - and I actually prefer it)

as above, invite peolpe over for drinks rather than going to bars n clubs.. for the most part the music is always better AND you can toke ;)

if you use public transport a lot, look into week/month/year tickets... sometimes worth a go..

limit PC/washing machine/heavy electrical use to cheap/off peak rates if you have such a thing... if you don't and your power company does split rates, enquire as you might be able to save money by flowering during night time/off peak hours)

oh and instead of having an actual real life, hang out here at IC the whole time, I save a fortune :D

I think another way would be to find a credit card with good point systems.
For example, American Express is pretty good.
If willing, you can route almost all your money/purchases thru a credit card.
In a short time, say after spending 7000 bucks or so, you could get a $100 credit.
And, since you're using your credit card (and paying on time) you're building credit.

Collecting rainwater, double pissing in toilets, turning all lights off when you leave a room are some basic ones of mine too.
