Why??????????????
I'm reading a lively discussion, I give out rep to those who make a valid point, then I find another post even better than the ones before, but I cannot rep it.
Why???????????????

Not saying unlimited, but 3 in a 24 hour period?
That's not enough. I have more posts than that to rec.....
I would say 10-12 per day, or a monthly number?
Something more than 3.....

The rep system is still the same as it was. There is just an added function to the forums now. What about it is annoying? It was definitely a little slow to catch on, but very helpful and very unhelpful posts are getting marked more often now.

So you get a fixed number of helpful/not helpful ratings per day (5), and their strength is based on the rep that you have?

Yeah, everyone can rate 5 posts per day and their rep strength is 1/4 the amount you can give when using the
reputation.gif
rep icon. The amount of rep points you give out is based on how much rep you have & how long you have been registered

I wrote this some time ago on another thread...

If a member give you 4 points of rep + trough the normal ''scale'' system, when he give you a green thumb you gain 1 point, because the ''thumbs system'' is setted on 1\4 of the other system.

If this user give you less of 4 points in the ''scale''system, when he give a green thumb you gain nothing,no points.

So...only users with a good experience and\or points leave you points with only the ''thumbs system''

Hmmmm.... didn't know that...have stopped using regular rep system in favor of new, more convenient "thumbs up/down". So the people I'm repping aren't even really gaining any rep until they get 4 thumbs up?
System a bit flawed.
Also, some of us have been registered here under different names before, so I have actually been registered longer than my ID implies.

Incorrect. After someone give you 4 thumbs up you gain nothing...you start to earn points when someone has enough experience and reputation...at least 4 points for istance and you gain 1 point for every thumb. If that user usually gives 8 points reputation (trough ''old scale'' system) you gain 2 points every thumb etc...every 4 point of reputation,1 point every thumb.

1\4 means this.

which is why i think it's really dumb. there shouldn't even be a thumbs up or down option. who's idea was this?

how does one expect newbies to gain enough rep, so that one day they can give more, by giving each other 1/4 points rep points? i think it sucks but that's just my humble opinion. i see a lot more people with little amounts of rep on here than i do people with nuclear fission amounts of rep. is this just a way to keep people down?

The rep system is what it is. Does the amount of green/red/gray spots on a page only you can view help you grow Better weed?

it just annoys me to find people finding a post NOT helpful and its just not necessary voting on that .
why ad more voting and ranking etc ?
