This is not an accurate way to gauge harvest time.

It's not the bud hairs that you're looking at for that coloration, it's the trichomes. When the trichomes are cloudy with amber starting to show is a good time to harvest. Some people like to harvest a little before, and some a little after that.

I can't see them without assistance either. I can use a magnifying glass, a jewler's loupe, a microscope... all cheap and available to most people. I choose to use my point and shoot 5 year old digital camera. No matter how you do it, it's the trichs that matter, not the hairs.

I don't disagree with you, I use a magnifying glass I just cannot see that small.:)

I hear you, but some dudes just need to glance at a plant. The method may not be reliable, but the dude is. Know what I mean?

Sort of the way birds don't need to squeeze or smell a cherry to know it's ripe. So the cherries with a chunk missing are the sweetest.

Well it bothered me when I saw such blatantly wrong advice... and now you're admitting you knew it was bad advice? :badday:

Some dudes? Do you see the OP's plants? No offense to the OP, but I don't think he's one of those dudes. There's a correct way to gauge maturity, and there's the way the dudes you're speaking of do it. :dunno:

Listen man I never said it was bad advice. And I not gettin in it with you. All right. I do what I can and my smoke is good I've been growin since the 70's and I do all right. I'm old school. If you don't like that or me then that's fine. But Do Not try and turn my words around on me. That' just not cool. If detone wants to take your advice that's fine to no problem. I just offered, but that's no reason to make me look like I would purposely blatantly lie.

It's all good detone man. If you can see the trichomes that's great no problem. I'll give him a star for being more accurate than I. I just have trouble seeing that small so I go with what I know, I've never had a problem. I understand he's probably a young guy like you, that's cool. He just needs to understand that everybody has different ways of doing things. He's cool and probably knows a lot and that's good, I'm sure I could pick up some new stuff from him. He just could use a little less attitude. As I said it's all good man.:)

Really? I'm the bad guy because I bring facts to this conversation? Please tell me how I'm turning your words against you Ghostwolf.

You advised him to harvest based on overall maturity of the pistils. That is incorrect. Maturity is determined by the trichomes. You know this, yet you advised to go by hairs.

So your friend told you this too detone? That's fine, he's probably old school like Ghostwolf. That doesn't make it right though.

There has been no attitude to my posts. If you think otherwise, please point it out to me, because I can't see it.
