I read this story the other day when it first broke.

I didn't realize he was a former heart surgeon.

If he could preform cardiovascular surgery while doing bong-hit's, he must be one hell of an MD!

It said in the article, that the police found several other empty over-night mail packaging in the Doctors hotel-room that weed was sent in.

I bet his hotel room gave a whole new meaning to
"Mississippi Burning."

ha, the comments from readers in the article are hilarious. enjoy dying from all of the FDA chemicals. SUCKAZ.

we're all gonna die but at least i will die happy, coherent, and not addicted to opiates. Can't say that for the Naysayers who commented. The funny thing is i bet if you look into all of those "drug free" prohibitionists medicine cabinets you would see bottles upon bottles of FDA approved POISON.

Enjoy the slow, painfull, and COSTLY death. The govt wants to drag it out and collect on the treatment as long as possible. These sad fucks are also Proud to be sending young people to fight bullshit oil wars. Have fun sleeping well knowing you sent your kids off to die for oil sucka.

That is funny, I guess people understand sexual desires down there more than growing dope. That is sad, that is a lot of time but I wouldn't even want to drive through there with a joint.

They are nuts in any state really, they don't really know how to think about perverts most of the time. With stoners, that is a daily problem, so it gets their beef a lot plus it cheeses out their job!

They have no problem sleeping, that is one of the nice side effects of turning your brain off and toeing the party line!

Long live the party comrades!

The more options we have the better. We need all states to have MMJ. Right now we have 14? unfortunately these are the only states we can move to.

This is truely a shame and total waste of tax payers money. And with the only Federal pot farm at Ole Miss, well you would think they would not link MJ on the same level as "the other dangerous drugs". The bible belt is a crazy place man. From what I've read, both Tennessee and Alabama both have MMJ bills proposed for legislation but dont expect these states to become #'s 15 and 16 any time soon. Family from there say there are still counties were alcohol sales are still illegal 24/7, 365 days a year. And with that in mind, there going to allow "the devils weed" as part of their medical arsenal. Mention MMJ and expect to get a new testament shoved down your throat and put on everyones prayer lists:grouphug: I remember recently reading a comment that came across the AP from Alabama's governor quoting him saying if the people of Alabama legalize video bingo(whatever that is), then they might as well go ahead and legalize cocaine....what a ignorant moron. The only hope for obtaining widespread medical acceptance is with a positive push across the US from the media. Case in point our last Presidential election...the media had the presidency decided before the polls were even opened :thank you: I just dont understand, seems one day there is positive news about the MMJ movement and then stories like this and how our once "united" states are reinforcing the "war on us". Sucks how imaginary lines in the dirt can make such a difference in someone's freedom and access to medicine.

I fail to see the logic in humans at times.
or is it some humans fail to - see it.

one way or another this man is facing the rest of his life in prison while child molesters are moving in across the street.

makes me feel sick, somethings wrong with society today!

To all who commented on this thread...

Yes, we would all like to live in a "legal" state. However, because of our responsibilities & families down here & because of certain medical conditions we have which preclude our moving to states with higher altitudes, costs of living, etc., some of us have no choice but to suck it up & fight it out where we are...

Yes, the South is backward... Yes, it is like living in the buckle of the Bible Belt...

However, attitudes ARE changing, one person at a time... We have patients down here who have injuries for which there is no "cure" but for whom opiates & Big Pharma's offerings have ruined their lives rather than preserving them...

We need all smokers to unite in this fight to force the Feds to reschedule and/or legalize...

I will be taking a carload of patients to Montgomery next Tuesday (30th)... (we need to rest overnite so we can be fresh for the morning)... We will be packed about 8 to a hotel room, with the able-bodied 20-somethings camping on the floor to save beds for those of us with spinal issues, etc.

Wednesday morning (31st) we will be on the steps of the capitol building at 7AM, preparing for our press conference at 8AM...

Some of us will testify before our Judicial Committee... Then we will return home & crawl back underground until the next assault is scheduled...

Please - if you are fortunate enough to live in a legal state, consider sending a donation to Alabamians for Compassionate Care (president Loretta Nall) in Birmingham. Our funding presently comes from Drug Policy Alliance, NORML & the pockets of our medical patients, most of whom are living on disability & pretty hard up...

Our previous bills were not formally presented because they contained restrictions we could foresee as trouble points - FDA-approval for pharmacies, etc. Rather than push ahead at that time, we elected to redraft.

Now, our bill is perfect & the time is right! We are calling on all lovers of this medicinal plant to join with us in our fight & help push our wave "over the top," thereby turning the tide here in Alabama.

With more funding, we could flood TV & radio with ads. As it is, we are limited to editorials & newspaper interviews & letters, along with our marches & protests against law enforcement's heavy hand toward sick patients.

I suffer chronic pain daily from my fibromyalgia, neck & spinal fractures & nerve damage. It is a struggle just to walk around during the day for me. Most other patients are in the same shape, having been thrown on the patient "trash heap" by their physicians when the pills & patches don't work anymore...

We are asking those of you who smoke - for whatever reason - to help us in this fight! It is so hard for us to save enough energy to fight it ourselves... I missed the last 2 meetings in Birmingham because I live down on the Coast & my spinal pain prevents me being able to travel far by car... There are many who are much worse off than me, so I am grateful.

We need our brothers & sisters in legal states to stand up & send $5 or $10 to Alabamians for Compassionate Care to help us in our fight. Most of our funding presently comes from the pockets of patients who are already living on disability... With your help, we could provide buses to drive ill people to rallies & meetings, do TV, radio, & newspaper advertisements to build our membership.

Next time you sit down to enjoy your freedom to spark one up, think about those of us down here who live in fear of ridiculous, overzealous prosecution... Our state has a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 years for growing a seedling.

For those of you interested in helping our cause, please contact Loretta Nall at Nall(forward slash)loretta.nall@gmail.com or Alabamacompcare@yahoo.com. You can donate by credit card if you wish, as we are set up for PayPal... If you have any questions, please call 205 907-6131 to speak to Christie, our Outreach Coordinator for North Alabama, or feel free to call me at 251 580-2022 or write to flyinggoat628@yahoo.com, as I am Outreach Coordinator for the Mobile Bay area.

If you have ever wanted to be part of something BIG - this is your chance to make a real difference! Imagine the momentum we could gain if the hundreds of thousands of us in legal states were to give just $5 to help us bring Alabama over the top!

In the meantime, please stop with comments like "the South will never legalize." Those of us in the fight have a hard enough time trying to stay positive... Instead, take a look in the mirror - YOU have the power to help us change things here. We face negativity & pain everywhere we look... How about a little encouragement for a change?

Moderators: Phone numbers & Email addresses given are for persons already "out of the closet" down here, and is done so with permission & approval of ACC. Please allow publication for the sake of our Cause...

Thank you for reading. Hope we have not destroyed your eyesight...

Cheers,

Hmmm... Hot thread, then nothing after my post...

Didn't mean to kill the thread, just to reinforce that those of us in the South need help & encouragement, not negativity or being dumped on by those of you fortunate enough to live in a legal medical state...

Apologies if I stepped on any toes, but truth hurts sometimes...
