C99 OUTSIDE Can it be done.

I was thinking of running all C99 outside. Somewhere in santa cruz mountains. I need all ideas on how to handle this. I have plenty of room. What I want is 6-8 oz's per plant. Dutch mentioned mites, what would you do to keep them at bay? Is this even feasible to do this strain outdoors? Or am I just crazy.

I did it last year. wallyducks f5. It was/is great. I got an average of approx. qp per plant, I think a half lub+ is for sure possible, especially where you are. was done by first week of october at 45 N

this year Im trying mosca's, and fairlight's and 2 diff clones my wallyduck c99

Thanks for the reply, I was nervous because I wanted to make sure this would not disappoint. What kind of medium did you use. How many gallons were they planted into.
Nutrients what did you use? Was there any mite issues? Was there a lot of staking that was needed.

Cindy loves the outdoors. I've had friends pull a lb a plant from outdoor C99 grows, that's in Australia though, not sure whether the weather would be so kind where you are.

Thanks Mountain Mike, How would you rate C99 outdoors? the high, taste, which one did you end up growing. Will she give me Top Shelf? How many gallons of soil do I need to pull a half bow. Any advice would be appreciated.

Im at 36.

she's succeptable to caterpillars and doesnt really possess the vigor to overgrow the damage so stay keen with the sevin or something because it just doesnt handle insects all that well.

Mine were finished in the first week of october. Potent, pinnaple tasting, moderate yields. Many plants will grow in average soil, but I feel 99 needs good soil and nutrients so i would pay attention to hole prep. they will mould in the last 2 weeks of flower if conditions turn bad, but then most plants will under the right conditions.

good luck

It wasn't me who grew the plants it was a friend who's skills far outweighed mine. From memory he used F2 beans he made from original Grimm stock. There were 2 guys running it and the one who was a friend supplied the beans. May his soul rest in peace, passed a few years back. Used to love making hash oil from the trim, put's a smile on my dial thinking of him sitting there using Isopropyl alcohol (I think, not 100% sure) to extract the oil... he thought it was magic, if your reading this Nathe, I'm burning one for you right now! rest in peace my friend...

c99 is good outdoor strain in same sense like skunk1 does outdoor, i know guy who grows some c99 at 50N, it tastes awfully sweet...i dont like sweet pot, hehe sorry...i have no doubt, that c99 doesnt need special care, shes not sensitive to nutes...shes branching like crazy, so give her nice root space with rich soil and regular irriagation and youll get big, bushy plant with a lot hard sweet nugs...

good luck

p.s. santa cruz mountains? in cali right...no problem to grow it there hehe...you should ask in outdoor forum, there are many outdoorgrowers from California...

Don't use sevin, its rather toxic stuff. Try bacillus thuringensis or diotomacious earth instead. Both can be found readily online or at a nursery.

Thank you for all the info. Please keep on giving me as much knowledge as you poses. I will be taking it all in like a sponge. I want this grow to be off the charts. I will be doing a full documented grow log.
1000ARMSOFCALI-When you say sweet, what is your def. of sweet? Can you recommend anything... Whats your opinion of Casey Jones?

The mites would tear it a new one...they LOVE Cindy and I am battling the Borg up in the SC hills on Cindy as well speak - and this is INSIDE a clean room"...LOL!

Seriously bro, try another strain like Lemon Thai if you are looking for that clear headed sativa high and big yields. You'll be glad you did...trust me.

hi bro

thats just my tastes, your tastes can be diiferent from mine, def. of sweetness? hehe for me its just sweet like candies for children... in smoke i prefer sour, inscense, earthy, piney, choco, hashy, coffee, spicy, sweaty-meaty, old-cheese pot.. i laso like lemony weed, but anything sweet like skunk1 causes me headache...now i smoke one pheno of casey jones which is earthy-coffee metal petrol, simply yummy hehe also i love haze....i would choose cj over c99 anytime, but again just my tastes, c99 is highgrade pot for sure...did you think about super silver haze? great yeild, strong pot...

I grew C99 (from Actual Seeds, Switzerland, Brother Grimms F1)
last year at 49N. finished middle of october, some mold problems, very unique sour grapefruit smell

48-50N in Canada

finished late October (we get our first frost around halloween so harvested before that)

I don't know about mold problems as I wasn't the grower, didn't hear anything about losing buds to mold however it was a dry summer.
