Most wonderful Blueberry?

I'm privy to DJ Short's True Blueberry, I've seen some AWESOME specimens come from those beans...

Is it even possible to make viable seeds from a feminized plant???

(n00b question I know but I've heard breeding with plants grown from fem seedstock results in a lot of hermies, maybe someone can set me straight)

I vote 4 DJ. If you don't want to pay the $$ get chimera or legend's crosses, they use DJ's famous bb male.

get 4-5 packs of Dj's Blueberry and find yourself a female which will stay the whole life with you :smoke:

I also agree with the dj short's blueberry. I grow it and LOVE it and have used it for breeding purposes also with good results. DJ short's blueberry works the best for the chronic nausea I experience and is very tasty. I grow an indica prominant pheno and it is very blueberry muffin smelling, no blue or purple in the buds, absolutely covered with trichomes, I always seem to have a scope nearby and don't like to harvest too early, which could have been a problem with you stating that the blueberry you grew was racy... look for amber trichomes before chopping and you will get the results you are looking for as it sounds like you may be harvesting too early.. ie getting that racy high.

I have the sense that this is up in the air. I have heard really smart people say it works just fine, and others with caution. This of course must be strain dependent...we have hundreds of strains and crosses in our community, and we know some strains are prone to hermie while others are resistant.

In the last ten years, I have only seen single plant hermie on me in Minnesota, and my weather is very challenging to grow in. With my cold springs and falls, you'd think I would have seen more of this.

Just experimenting. And what if I got five cool crosses with an MLI male from a single pack of $70 seeds?

If it works, I am set for years, and if not there is that knife which accompanies me to my scattered summer grows, some pirate, some guerilla.

Hi, long time learner from this site. I want to order Blueberry . From what I have read DJS is the way to go ? What is the difference between Blueberry and true blueberry, and what else can you reccomend in the blueberry line or other breeders. thanks for any help.

I miss my Blue Baloney, personally. (Stoney Baloney x Blue Widow)

Tasted and smelled just like blueberry muffins.

I know this sounds crazy, but DP has some of the best blueberry I've seen to date. Bought a pack in 2000, and it was some of the best blueberry that I've seen/smoked. The smell was ridiculous, and the high was a very overwhelming sativa high. I've smoked/grown dj's bb, dabney, and a few other blue crosses, and nothing compared to date>>>

I've never ran the True BB, but my understanding is that it runs more to the Sativa side. DJ's BB is the one I like best that I've grown. A good cure really brings out the taste.

Peak Seeds BB was the runner up. Very nice Blue berry muffin smell and a smooth BB taste that really showed after a good cure.

I've smoked Dutch Passion BB grown by several others and wasn't that impressed. Stone wise it was fine, but the taste was lacking. I have doubts on how it was cured. I'm reasonably sure it would have tasted better with a proper cure. The smell was faint, and no BB taste. That's how it is with cash croppers. Cut, dry sell.

I wouldn't write DP off, since I didn't grow it, but that's my take on it.

As I said, Peaks BB was nice and I would recommend it if you can't afford DJ's gear. Peaks Northern Berry (NLxBB) was a great yielder, but the BB taste was faint and it's a more musky/fruity taste.

Peaks BB also prefers lower nutes like DJ's BB.

is there a difference between DJS andPeaks. Not worried about the cost. I want a great BB strain. thanks for such a quick reply.

Is BB hard to grow? and why?

Peak uses BB from several vendors BB in their version. They use DP, DJ's and Sagarmatha genetics. BTW, DP's BB is derived from DJ's stock. Not sure about Sag.

I haven't grown 'em side by side (Peak and DJ's), but as I recall, they are very similar in structure and appearance. I lost all my old pics in a computer crash, so I gotta go by memory here. The Peak will purple up nicely with cooler temps, and I've seen pics of a very bluish pheno too.

BB isn't that hard to grow, it just prefers a very light nutrient schedule. Just start out with 1/4 to 1/2 strength nutrients and slowly work up to what the plant likes.

I vegged 'em to abut 18 inches in DWC buckets before 12/12 flip and ended up with 3.5 - 4 ft plants under 1000 watt HPS. I'd call it a medium to medium large yielder

That's what worked for me

It's pretty safe to say all blueberry seeds on the market are from DJ's stock.

I don't really see the point in recreating a strain when you could create something original, If I wanted to cash in on a strain I'd just start with some F1's.

*shrugs* my opinion...

Hi,
I'm not trying to recreate , I just want a really great BB for my own use:thank you:. DJS is the way to go?

Hey WelderDan,
Thank you for your input. I think I will go with the DJS BB. Would that be your choice?.
Also what is Cherrybombx C99. and where do I get some?
thanks again for your help:thank you:

Is BB hard to grow? and why?

Enjoys a long veg, TBB can handle higher fert levels, but some say she is picky about that...Original BB can handle ferts, it's just that she let's you know when it's to much. High EC hurts the resin big time with BB, plus she gets people excited and that creates more errors.

I found a Mazar Kush fem very fresh blueberry smelling, TBB smelled like blueberry muffins but this is a different fresh organic blueberry basket in the grocery store smell. There are fruity indica's, I haven't heard of any other than Pakistani strains before this. I wonder if she will keep it up when she flowers, for now it's that I love to rub my nose on leafs and get that nice deep scent.

People come up with nice DJ Short Original BB at home inbreeding projects. You find a series of traits in a pack or more and work it over for a long time....I have a pack but have yet to go through her, she seems to want to grow with a pack of Deep Purple and Agent Orange....the deep purple should be interesting, the Purple Wreck has a nice synthetic grape smell but very strong hashy undertones....not at all like the hashy smell with the Blue Hash (some have found nice BB pheno's, not sure which BB they used but it looks strongly like DJ's original, or it's the Cali HP influencing that).

If this Mazar Kush keeps up the blueberry aroma, she's getting some DJ pollen.

Keeps sounding like I should go with DJS BB.
Would that be your choice?
Yes, I would go with DJS BB. Just bare in mind that with such a big $$ investment you may set your expectations too high. As opposed to getting a cheaper 'f2' such as Peakseeds, Joey Weed, Sagarmantha, etc.etc. Besides shouldn't the original breeder (DJS) reap some reward from his hard work. :chin:
