sorry mate didnt know u were using the RO with ur cal mag.

Yea its showing signs of def because of lock out. I would flush and maybe foliar feed molases or ca mag every other watering.. but try to avoid the buds.

Have u checked ur other nutes to see if they also contain calcium or mag?

Ya GG,

Your pic a few up is mainly a Ca def, with a nice side of Mg:).

Foliar should be done even with correcting the nute mix for quick absorbtion, unless this will cause mold or other more serious problems...

Speaking to nute levels...

I've found plants seem to operate on two general 'tiers' of nute levels.

The first being up to, and at around 1.5ec. This method of feeding could be compared to the slow and steady way, and usually will ultimately yield highest w/ the largest colas. They seem to just keep slowly stacking calyx after calyx throughout flower, and maintain a lush look throughout.

The second being up from 1.5ec to basically what the plants can handle. This seems to supercharge the plants need for nutes, calling for ever higher levels. Ironically, even w/ the extra nutes, I've seen more plants in this nute tier go P and K deficient in later flower. This style of feeding brings about extremely tight nugs and colas and a slightly more dense overall plant structure.

In much the way you can read a plants leafs to assess it's nutritional needs, I'm proposing you can look at the overall density, shape, and size of a plants flowers to get a general idea of the EC levels it's been receiving.

I've also noticed many growers aren't giving adequate P in mid and late flower, and are losing significant yield. If it's a matter of money, and you can't afford the more pricey PK boosters, pick up a bag of triple super phosphate.
Steep a cup or so in RO water for a few days, then filter through a coffee filter and you have a high quality, cheap source of pure Phosphoric Acid:).

ppm count in run-off vs. Nute consumption

ppm count in run-off vs. Nute consumption

We've now entered week 8.... Purchased her as a 45 day strain, every grow report says 60 a 80 days..... I'm shooting for 9 weeks.

Last night her feeding dropped from 1100 to 500 ppm's for week 8 and I'll flush through week 9, than turn the lights off for a couple days. This is subject to change of course, if she keeps growing.

I'm watering with about 35% run-off.... Nute intake was 500, run- off was 2300....:dunno:

decided to let this work itself out over the week and see what happens.

Does anyone keep track of tds in run-off... If so, how should this corespond to nutrient intake...? Wanna keep track of my plants nutrient consumption this way... Just not sure how to go about it.

I do not really care about what comes out of the pot.

Although I do add an important step during most feedings. I water with straight water before I feed. I hate to think that I Am watching the nutes rush out the bottom, so I tend to give them a good straight water before i add nutes, that way I am not wasting nutes out the bottom of the pot..

The only time I would check run off, is if I suspect a problem

that's a good idea doc.... nutes are pricey.

in my case, run-off gets tossed into my vegy gardens water...

what strength do you feed seedlings and plants in veg at...?:watchplant:

I put in 1900 the other day, actually .190 ppt. It's a pre-flower mix, Pure Blend is a lot of worm tea so that isn't that potent.

It's important to know what is driving up TDS that isn't NPK or other toxic elements. Not even flowering yet, should by the end of the month the start of next month. Not one burn since last night, not much change at all. Actually, it's been almost two days now. Still waiting on quad tip tops to start jetting out.

Seedlings ( 1 to 3 weeks old) get nothing from me

I start a nute program after that, typically with the nutes ramping up as I go. 300 to 500 is about I would go at first, then increasing it up to about 800 to 1000 PPM. I am guilty of not really giving veg plants that much food.

I do make sure that they do get a strong dose before they go into flower, and the first feeding in flower consists of a transitional formula. 1/2 veg 1/2 flower and typically will shoot for 1000 ppm on that feeding

Thnx for sticking with the thread and helping out doc...

Fried the shit out of my current seedlings feeding at week 2....:wallbash:....they are now 4 weeks old, look like their 10 days old... But are starting to come back to life....

My puppy got my germinating sour bubbles last night....:wallbash:....

Not gonna let any of this bother me..... Close to harvesting some mega tight bubblegum cola's..... till than I'm smoking Kandy kush, red cherry berry#7 and bubble from last seasons outdoor, got a kick ass new gas heater for my green house, and I have a stellar jump on my spring vegy garden....

no worries I help where I can

Yeah never give any nutes to any seedling till they are well established

im useing floranova bloom and let me tell u that u just cant keep feeding this stuff with all the nitrogen in it full strenth, u get massive claw and leaves that are so dark there almost blue, try what all people do who dont need a chemisty set to grow a plant do, READ THE PLANT.
