I don't think MM is over the top at all. The man is laying it out there for all to see, but we as people are so fucking blinded with fear, it's unthinkable to take to the streets. Moores' information - and others like him - will be suppressed by the major networks who are connected to the very MF's who control the central banks. Strange thing, i've never seen anyone criticize Moore for the information he provides to the people about the overt corruption of corporate America and it's penchant for greed. It's always about how he makes his money. To the Moore haters, I say, "sleep on."

And really, what abyss are we slipping into? Its like acid rain is falling from the sky and melting the clothes off your back. I'm sure that after this bill is passed you'll go on doing the EXACT same thing you were doing before. Don't use wacky rhetoric to make it seem like the entire universe is being pulled apart at the seams.

Do you really have liberal tendencies? Your words sure don't seem to reflect that philosophy. Your point concerning acid rain sounds just like the right wingers who would criticize those who raised alarm bells about the dangers of acid rain.

The environmental movement never said acid rain would "melt the clothes off your back," but those are exactly the alarmist words that somebody like Rush Limbaugh would ascribe to environmentalists to make it seem like they were the whackos. The problem with acid rain, correctly identified by those who really gave a shit, was what it does to our bodies of water and the life that exists in them.

My rhetoric isn't whacky at all, but your description of it is about as big a fucking exaggeration as could be, just like your words about acid rain. The abyss I am referring to concerns a number of things going on right now; climate change, and the almost total lack of progress in addressing it; the wall street/financial system debacle, and the almost total lack of progress in addressing its causes; the recent supreme court ruling that allows unlimited corporate funding of political candidates; and the continued domination of health care by corporate robber barons. That is just off the top of my head, I'm sure that there are other lousy trends that are not front page stuff, its only more noticeable when its in the headlines.

Finally, you've got no fucking idea what the hell I'm going to do, now or in the future. The fact that you feel comfortable suggesting you have an idea about that illustrates how you think, or more accurately, don't think...you come off as a fucking know-it-all whose thinking is really only an exercise in assuming.

Let's remember what Obama tried to do, which was single-fucking-payer (e.g., what it SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE) Government-run healthcare. Single payer means: the buyer (one payer!) has the power, the pharmaceutical companies (who are the MOST PROFITABLE businesses in the US) are forced to lower their outrageous prices. Insurance companies get the well-deserved boot. Doctors have greater incentive to work as actual fucking doctors with knowledge and advice instead of pill dispensers and professional surgeons.

The democrats/Obama quickly got their ass kicked when they proposed this, and they had to compromise and make concessions. This is partly to do with the fact that they can't hold their ground, but I digress.

And how big will the fines be if the insurance companies do deny someone coverage for having a pre-existing condition? Are you sitting down? A hundred dollars a day! That's it! So if you're the insurance company, and Judy is a customer of yours, and Judy needs an operation that will cost $100,000, what do you do? You take the fine! Let's say Judy lives another year after you've sentenced her to death, your $100-a-day fine will only cost you $36,500! That's a savings of $63,500! And trust me, my friends, that's EXACTLY what's going to happen.

Better than nothing! Right now the insurance companies pay NOTHING to deny Judy. They just fuck Judy and that's it.

You reap what you sew guys. Our elected officials (that is, the people we selected to run our country) got us here.

...BTW, you want weed legalized? Take the profits away from pharma. Nothing would ruin their industry faster than a drug that has this many beneficial properties and can be produced more readily than corn. Kill pharma = legalize weed.

I have educated myself at uni.. all you learn is the entire system is set up for 'them'... The world is changing, life will be very different by the time the masses catch on. In the end it's all one biological system so you can get an eye for what makes what happen.. And no it's not just more media awareness. But honestly I feel for you guys in the states, I really do.. how can you put up with your system being that crap for so long? I know things can't be perfect, but your people have been screwed over in many ways for too long. It's like people who grow up in war, it's just what they're used to. To be honest at least the country is in decline, it might make people realise they need change in a lot of places.. and hopefully will help stop the exploitation of other things abroad.

Thanks for posting this Head, it is right on the mark. Wonder why he didn't mention the texas school board's work to destroy education for the general public in the US?

In the end the human spirit will overcome all attempts at suppression as the greed of the suppressors is bottomless and the suffering they cause will expose their greed. It is the natural progression of the human condition and there is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come. I feel like that moment is closing in.

For those who cant be bothered reading or just like a lil visual stimulation watch this

How long until it all comes crashing down globaly is anyones guess.
I'm not a sensationalist rather a realist & i'm heading for the hills ASAP!
I urge everyone to get yourself some fritillary collective organic food seed and grow your own.

Forget Mr Moore, Mr Jones and everyone else. Just use google and have a search, see what people are willing to do to each other when hungry.

Have a look at hurricane katrina.

The shit hits the fan all the time. wtf will you do IF the shit hits the fan BIG time?

:tiphat:

The last thing I need to hear, is a multi-millionaire telling me how evil greed is. Hypocrisy negates his intentions, no matter how well they are. Call me a "sleeper", or a "sheeple", but mike moore is chock full o' shit. Greed is bad? What about your "private beach" on Torch Lake, or the Manhattan penthouse? the private schools? the jet setting life style? It's bad for anyone else in any other industry to have any of that, but a-ok for him to have that? Fuck. Him.

You know OTL there are a lot of broke people out there with something to say and messages we could all benefit from but we don't hear them because they can't get them out because they're BROKE!
The whole reason he has money is because so many people agreed with what he was saying and went to see his movies.

IMO, the fact that he has had this degree of sucess is a further illustration of the validity of his points.

Couldn't agree with you more. Mr. Moore,I believe, started out doing bingo and bake sales to fund Roger&Me. He's done his work (quite a bit...I didn't know he was an editor for mother jones before film maker) and has earned his reward. Since he has earned it, Mr. Moore is 100% within his right to spend it, however he wants. That is part of capitalism...you earned it, you do what you want with it.
Where we disagree is his disdain of a system that he has benefited from. Why won't he do a film dragging "Big Entertainment" over the coals? Because it's in his best interest not to. He has earned enough so that he can live well for the rest of his life yet still writes, and makes films. Lots of people do read his books and see his films. Although I don't agree with him, his interviews of politicians are great (he knows how to make 'em squirm).

If Mr. Moore honestly believes that making profits was bad, he would publish all his work for free via his website and/or you tube, or donate all of his earnings (except for an amount to provide for his family annually, say 125K if he has a family of 4) to his favorite charity? !!!disclaimer!!! I do not know the state MM's charitable giving. I think that charity is best left anonymous, otherwise it's a donation For all I know, he is giving gobs and gobs of money to charity.

Washington sold us all out to the corporate state. Things have been consolidating for a while.

When banks rule the world then only thing that matters is money.

Justice is lost.

Here is a quote from President Woodrow Wilson (One of the most influential Progressives) who created the Federal Reserve Bank back in 1913. He later acknowledged what it's ultimate consequence for the country would be.

“I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world - no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.”
-President Woodrow Wilson

has anybody seen the South Park "Obama Election" cartoon. where everyone is partying in the streets. And the Obama supporters are pretty much rioting. And the Republican voters are in the hospital for suicide...
In the end they wake up the next day and Randy Marsh says: "it's all the same there's no change" or something like that. Obama seems weak like he came in on hype and is defalting quickly.

The issue isn't govt, its corporations and like Gramps said they are and have been merging.
Once a person falls out of the system or gets pushed out (credit, legal, health) you have no voice, and the masses blame the victim.
Blaming the victim happens because it helps one feel .. if I follow the rules and do whats right nothing bad can happen to me... the victim obviously did something to make the bad thing occur, bad victim.
People with life experience and a brain know better... you can do all the right things and bad shit can still happen to you. Its usually not the victims fault.

I could care less about who is speaking or writing the message...
the message stands or falls on its own merit with me.

Thanks Head for posting this.

Excellent expansion on your first post, and you've made some great points that I can't argue with.

in the mind of white trash like me, the diff between grossly wealthy entertainers and grossly wealthy insurance execs, war profiteers and politicians is a moral one. the only movie i can think of that killed people or oppressed the masses was reefer madness. MM can be an annoying prick, but he never hurt me like my own government did. he never betrayed me like my elected officials have.
...........greed   /grid/ Show Spelled[greed] Show IPA
–noun
excessive or rapacious desire, esp. for wealth or possessions.
...nothing wrong with greed. to quote gordon gecko(haha) greed built this country and may well fix it. i see nothing in the actual definition citing oppression, murder, genocide, etc...which are some of the methods employed by some of the people and/or companies MM rails against.

Some more about The Greed They Wear... Lets just, uh, go ahead and expand the powers of corruption that caused this.

Obama urges Senate action on controversial finance reforms

US President Barack Obama on Saturday urged senators to grant the Federal Reserve a dramatic expansion of its regulatory powers and to establish a new consumer protection committee to help safeguard Americans from Wall Street's excesses.

"These reforms are essential," Obama said in his weekly radio address.
Who's regulating the FED?? No one. :biglaugh:

Gold Sach's is Wall Street and is the FED. Same people lol. It's a contradiction in terms. Oxymoronic statement.

You can't even see the books. Even Barney Frank can't see them. Congress can't. The Senate can't. The President can't. NOBODY can.

It's a total black market lmao. We sure are a trusting bunch of suckers lol.

Common sense stuff if you ask me. Maybe I'm crazy. This is what I call greed.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
