I think $40 is expensive for a 50l bag of b'cuzz, but it's either that or the brick stuff for $16. But you have to put in work with the brick stuff, so I guess that is where the premium lies. As far as prep goes, how are you guys pre-flushing this stuff? You use a spaghetti strainer? Let me know

If you must rinse fiorst....which I don't have to because I use empire....then just get a rubbermaid or whatever plastic tub....30gal or so, and drill a ton of tiny holes in it. Put your coco in, and wash. Keep it around to rinse your coco for it's next run as well.

i like both canna coco and bcuzz coco equally
i think the canna is a little bit 'airy-er' but i get equal results from both
i have to travel a little ways (15 miles) to get the canna but its only $18 per bag...
the bucuzz is right around the corner (5miles) but its $30... so which coco i use depends on whats going on the day i go get coco.

i dont ever feel the need to rinse either coco before i use it... they are ready to use i just fill the pot plant and feed.

btw i didnt know bcuzz suggests their hydro a/b for use with their coco gonna have to check that out...

Exactly. From Empire's website

Coco Peat
60% Coco Pith/ 40% Short Coir Fiber
PH Stable 5.7-6.2/ EC < 0.1mS/ cm (1:1.5 v/v)
5KG Block = 2.5 cu.ft

I just use it for moms and cuttings. All ppm tests of the water from the soak were low.

First time canna user here, and loving it, especially over the botanicare bricks I used a few runs ago.

I ended up using Sunleaves Piece Coir, the loose stuff in the bag because it's supposedly washed better. It's all I could get locally besides the bricks, the stores were out of the Botanicare stuff.

I'm brand new to coco, but I like the looks of it. It's pretty much half long hairy fibers and half pea sized and smaller chips so it's pretty airy looking. I can't imagine being able to overwater with this stuff, even packed in there as tight as I could get it the juice sails right thru it.

The price was right too, 10 bucks for a 40L bag.

I rinsed the crap out of it because after reading all these coco threads, I don't trust any company to do it right every time. Better safe than sorry. The EC was 1.1-1.2 out of the bag with enough hot water to cover and soaking for about 15-20 minutes but my tap water is about .5-.6 EC. After the initial soak and a rinse it was down to about .6 EC and successive soaks/rinses (3) didn't improve it beyond that.

That's about all I can add being a coco noob, but the stuff seems ok. It was really clean, no dust just chips and hair and after one good hot water soak and rinse it was pretty good to go.

I use the biobizz coco-mix and canna coco professionell for a couple grows now and the biobizz is more "solid" and the canna is finer.
The biobizz has peat in it..since I have a automated drip system I prefer the canna coco because it holds less water and I can feed it more often. The Canna coco also has tricoderme fungis mixed inside which I think is a big plus aswell. For mother planst I prefer the biobizz thought.
Price is the same for both...10 euros (15 dollars) per 50L bag.

ive been just hearing lowes has this coco. if your in need, pet stores sell coco as reptile bedding, they r full of salts to keep pests away. so they definitely need a good wash.

They work just as good as any other coco I've tried. After the rinse of course.

Cool, I've noticed all the threads saying water til runoff, but the Biobizz coco seems to hold a lot of water. I experimented and tried the daily watering method, but my plants were showing signs of overwatering.
I can go 4-7 days without watering.

Rather not go on mentioning specific internet sites, although I have known people that find this to be a great soil conditioner. I don't even want to mention the brand, it's just a big block of it. I think people usually get the coco mulch for gardens, but it really helps loosen clay soils with some gypsum.

Hey all

I am a new coco grower, coming from my ebb and flow goodness...and I am stuck with the local grow store brand. I want to try other brands, but the shipping is crazy for a bale of it. the cheapest I can find is like $40 shipped for the Botanicare stuff.

can you guys please tell me where you get your stuff, how much, and what kind do you get.

Thanks

How is that Empire Coco? My shop can get it, but not Canna...they also have B'Cuzz. what would be the best?

I live in a coco desert apparently, I grab whatever I can get my hands on. I've used B'Cuzz, Canna, Botanicare bricks, a couple generic bricks when times were tough... It all seems about the same in the end, with or without the prewashing rituals.

I'm just a coco whore, what else can I say?

I don't use Sunleaves though, I still have standards.

I haven't used B'cuzz....but I've heard good things. As far as I'm concerned...Empire is excellent. No ned to to rinse...and their chipas are perfect size. The coir is even chunkier than most companies coir. Especially Sunleaves. I thought their stuff was shit.

I tested the runoff of both Canna and B'cuzz (and a third but I can't remember the brand lol) and both Canna and B'cuzz had no increase in PPM and no PH change.

I use both right out of the bag. The only difference I noted was each brand dryed out at slightly different rates due to differences in coarseness.

I use Canna mainly because I can't handle the price of B'cuzz.
