simple Q: does trich production CYCLE?

i have been getting plants that have cloudy trichs and then they begin to fall off and coat the leaf. in the past with a different strain, the fan leaves turned yellow, the hairs in the bud turned from white to orange/red, and also the trichs would turn amber before they fell off.

this strain the fan leaves are all very green. the hairs are all very white, the bud is hardening up and the trichs are cloudy, but DONT turn amber, the balls are beginning to fall onto the leave, the buds are NOT very big at all, although they are firming up. in short the plants look like they have a LONG way to go, and have only been in bud for about 4 weeks.

just wondering are they DONE done? that's IT?? or are they to be left alone for another few weeks to grow? ie, they will cycle back and re-grow trichs? in my past experience, once the balls start to fall off the trich stems or hairs THAT'S IT!

i would hate to think that i will either leave them in bud and miss their prime and all the trichs fall off, or that i pick them now and i am stuck with tiny little shit-buds. this is a PPP plant that is only about 3 ft tall, well short of its sativa 12' capability, it was put in bloom at two months. i have a bunch of other plants put in bloom at one month at 1 foot and i got the same thing going on... but strangely, twice as bigger buds (but still not large) thanks

Have seen a similar effect a couple of times at very low humidity levels and low temps , seems the fan was blowing cold dry air and was curling the leaves as well.

nice avatar, looks like a snake head at first.

this is not the result of being blown off. if anything, i realize that a SMALL portion is probably from my microscope being too close, but this is all around the plant that looks like heat from the light melted it.
on this PPP i have left it in overnight from when i posted and i now notice a couple of amber colored trichs. since i haven't gotten enuf answers to my question i am going to go ahead and kill it, oops, i mean "harvest" this poor sucker. its about three feet tall, branchy but not bushy, small-ass buds, but at least buds.

i have never heard of trichs cycling so i guess it will NOT be able to grow the buds any bigger. too damed bad. i've got bigger buds on foot tall plants. good thing i didn't bother cloning this pos plant.

would appreciate any other comments on this tho.

Wow .. I haven't read a similar post before..

Let's see what is the medium they are in, light level and type. What kind of convection situation do you have. What are the genetics ppp might be purple power plant but I am unfamiliar.

I can share my point of view.. The thing here is to learn what is going on. Falling off is an interesting thing I don't remember reading about except in windy conditions.

I have some experience with my "style" and maybe my input will be helpful.

well not much in the way of replies so here you go Jack.

i have experienced this in every type of medium i have used: organic compost, miracle grow, LC#1, half perlite half compost, you name it. and also with a 400W HPS and now my 1000W HPS. i have a fan blowing on them from about 7 ft away on low. I have an exhaust fan for a bathroom in the ceiling sucking it out, but now in winter i don't have it on, i just part the door. even tho it's off the hot air will make it's way out. temp in the 80's when the light is on, i don't know at night. i have seen it happen ALOT on my strain which was spozed to be white widow, used to be good when i started, now is just a crapped out plant i am getting rid of. the PPP was new from seed but not suited to what i want, sog. sooner into bloom the better, never longer than a month now. maybe my new strains i will wait two months. i just haven seen the benefit of waiting for plants to grow large vs. lots of clones in i gal containers. i use GH flora nova and also 3 part. switching over to the Technaflora system. all i know about them is that their Thrive Alive Red total kicks holy ass! i have had great success cloning since i bought that shit!

i have one right now of this old strain that is like i said. the balls are cloudy, some of the leaf has no balls but the surface of the leaf is slick from the goo, you know, glazed over. and now even tho most all fan leaves are still on and still green, some (few) yellowed, and i even have some hairs turning red instead of white. so..... maybe my question should have been, After the trichs turn amber and are past their prime, do they fall off THEN???

OH yeah, i have no idea what my humidity is. i live in WA and it rains alot tho. does that help? haha.

it is a 1000w hps. street type light. i have decided it is beyond the ultra-crap breed that i thought it was and is now the ultra-crappiest weed that has ever existed.
i believe that it is a strain of PPP. pure power plant as i got from nirvana, except i didn't get it from nirvana, i got it from a friend. but it looks just like the ppp i got and grew and just put into bud w/o cloning cause i can't stand it. i suppose tho in reality it is that I SUCK AT GROWING and let light leak in so i would blame me mostly cause i have seen awesome buds of this shit on this site. but.................

i also have some Super 44 that looks the same as well as some of my K-2 plants that look more sativa than indica. i totally DONT want sativa although i like the high i don't want to wait so long to grow the shit. i am cloning some of the K-2 because all my aurora seeds died or should i say, I KILLED THEMMMMM H@H@Ha. Heanse my name, marquis de sod. i kill them all. little mother fuckers torturing me the way they do. i should and do, put them in my fireplace and burn them ALIVE when they are hermies.

Also, on re-reading your original post, you're not even at 30 days flower. I've never purposely harvested a plant prior to 60 days (I've had to harvest them earlier because they froze).

A lot happens in that last two weeks of flower, they pack on a lot of weight and just seem to look more beautiful.

I once read an article that Soma wrote, and he said something to the effect of, "When the plant looks ready to harvest, wait two more weeks". It's really hard to do, but I try to follow that advice.

If you're growing a strain that many others here are growing, read the threads and look at the pictures. But I highly doubt that your growing conditions are the same as the "Bud of the Month" pictures. It's a learning process, next round change something to make it better........SC

i am about three feet.

i am telling by looking at the trichs turn cloudy. some are amber on this strain right now and some have fallen off so i usually, "grab"them and if they are firm and harder, i will pick them. i have one i am killing tonight. mostly cloudy trichs, some clear, some have fallen off. no doubt when they all fall off it's too late.

yes, the learning curve is pretty bad for me, it's like calculus, which i can't get past the first two pages of the book.

Sorry.. I have been neglecting to contribute. I am sorry.

Mind you I am a big fan of convection so what we like in the way of environment isn't always the best for a given location.

I would have the ability to draw a lot of air so a 80-130 cfm fan isn't going to do it for me.

I have a 4x4 box and I use a 650 cfm for that with fresh cold. Remember more CO2 is in cooler air since it is condensed and heavy down low.

So as my input draw hot high fill with cold low.

I learned from a few years of doing so your results may be different than mine but my input is valid.

The Stoma of the leaves and transpiration is a key factor in the growth of a plant.
Getting air flow around them in a natural way is good.

Like I wrote your style is fine. I am only sharing my experience with my conditions.

1000Watts, and FUCK it's happening again! No white hairs turning red. not even any trich balls turning amber, just a field of nice cloudy trichs two days ago, now less but glazing, and on two others just a couple of trichs with the leaves all glazed. they have all been in 12/12 not even a month. bud size is way down too which is why i want to leave them in, but.....

will they re-grow their trichs??????? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I have a large circular room fan blowing on them on speed 1 out of 3. with an exhaust fan something link 60cfm, a typical fart fan vacuming air. door open usually. about 80F. i hate this fucking weed!

one more night and i'm gonna lose at least half my trich balls again.

Rule #1 - Don't hate the weed, love the weed.
Rule #2 - You're being way too impatient. If I were you, I'd let the plant go so you can learn the life cycle of the pistils and trychs of this strain, then do it again, and expect what's going to happen to get the best medicine....SC
