Ive been searching for something, most know it as spin pro. From experience, which one is the best for the price? magic pro, usponics, spin pro, handytrimmer, and im sure there is 100 more knockoffs.
They all look a little different and range from like 350-500 dollars.
I dont want a cheapo one, but at the same time, i dont wanna pay 500 bucks for trimmer A that does the same job as trimmer B which is 150 dollars cheaper because its not name brand. Ya feel me?

On a side note..
Also how often do you need to clean the wire blade, and how often do you need to clean the housing? And is it hard to clean the black fingers? Whats the easiest way to do all of this? of course iso alchohol, but how?

Good topic. Could make for a very useful discussion. Wish I knew more about it.

You need to get yourself a Trimpro bro. For a couple more bucks you'll be infinitely more happy. Don't know anyone that's been unsatisfied with their purchase. Haven't used those spin-pro thingies...but if I'm gonna spend 300-500 clams on something...it's going to be more than a spinning blade in a popcorn serving bowl that I have to turn manually like I'm an Amish person or something. This is the 21st century. ;)

I've use a Spinpro and hated it, the wires fbreak sometimes after 5 minutes of use. I use a Trim Reaper (which is a giant motorized Spinpro on steroids) but it uses metal blades instea dof wires, so they don't break. THey run about $1600 but can do a QP in 3 minutes flat, and the popcorn comes out perfect:

that trim reeper looks cool ^^ perfect for small nugs.
i use the trimpro an really reccommend it. it takes 70-80 % percent of manual labor away. i trim wet, let them hang.. and then re trim with shears before jarring.
but for small nugs.. not the trimpro..you'll lose more than trim.

The magic trimmer comes with a blade now, not those wire things, and its one of the least expensive ones.

I'd say its the best value. The trim reaper can process much more herb, but it's 4x as much money.

hey lazy do you lubricate your grate with anything?
when we picked up ours for the summer job (last summer) the dude at the shop suggested vegetable oil to keep things from sticking.... curious how you use/handle yours.
thanks in advance!

and fuck trimming!

No I just scrape the grate/blades when they start to jam. I don't like to use any lube on it (except for a spot of wd40 around the center of the blades) as I figured out how to clean the thing to make ISO hash out of it. One dirty Trim Reaper gives up about 10gr of high quality iso! Just take a clean rag soaked in ISO alcohol and wipe parts down, wring it out in clean alcohol and pretty soon the rag will be dark green and the machine will be spotless!

I think i have a spin pro (there is no label). It is wire cutting, and has what i will call a salad-spinner-gear-ratio deal :bongload:

I ruined the first wire in five minutes. But, once you figure out that youve got to cut your colas up,(must be between golf and tennis ball) the wire ceases to be a problem. Mine came with 40 wires, (i think they normally come with 20) Ive used 3 wires, i ruined 2 the first use, and havent changed the wire since.

The real flaw is this trimmer is really only useful for 'easy to trim' strains. If the pheno is 'leafy', the buds will need further manicuring. (It's bad enough having to cut colas to oversized golf balls).

I love the trim on the bottom. Some say these trimmers butcher the buds too bad, but the trim is relatively uniform in size, something perfect for bubble bags.

I would say, with one individual responsible for trimming, a 2oz/week production, and bubble bags are a prerequisite, otherwise it's gonna sit idle too long vs. the funds being spent elsewhere.

I'm looking at these things and I think to myself "why not take that handle off and just tighten the the chuck of my craftsman drill on that SOB" It would be motorized then.

No need 4 it man ,
10-12 cranks by hand and your done , a drills overkill big time , you'll make a mess of your nugs w/ it .

Has anyone made a trimmer that is electric and small scale like the magic trimmers that you can keep on and just feed nugs through. To eliminate the loading/emptying of the machine.

Balazar,

yes - that would be nice.

something like a Jr Twister Machine; that doesnt cost 14k.

I'm thinking maybe get one of those old school salad shooter kitchen appliances and mod it a little with some legos and screens and vacuum cleaner parts and shit and soon you will be auto-trimming like a pro lol.

I also bought the tumble magic trimmer with the blade. It also came with the wires, but I have not used them at all.

I trimmed a dozen plants with mine and it was unbelievable!! Popcorn is the biggest pain in the ass usually, but this thing totally takes care of that. I found 12 turns of the handle was perfect for my likes, about 10 seconds, then pour out your perfect little round nugs for drying.

mine was $330, and man it was worth $600, the time saved is unbelievable. Also the quality was great, no damage to my frosty buds, and they look perfect once dry. I did all the big colas by hand, and the trimmer for everything else.

I would find the guy from Canada on Ebay, and get the tumble magic with the blade. HUGE time saver. I know the mark up on these things is beyong all reason, they can not cost $50 to make, but they are worth it when you think about all that monotonous small bud trimming during even a small harvest.

Definitely get one, you will be thrilled. I only harvest once a year, about a dozen plants, and it is well worth it to me.

One thing I will say about the Spinpro that cannot be said about the blade trimmers is that the material trimmed still makes excellent hash. Something I have yet to see come from the production electric machine. Good luck however you choose. Peace GS
