using these cups for veg...?

i have a huge soda cup i got from a local pizzeria...its a half gallon cup.

its 9 1/2" tall. its 3 1/2" wide at the base and 4 1/2" wide at the mouth of the cup.

how long u guys think i could veg in these before they before they'd need to be transplanted?

Would work just fine... I veg in beer cups, 3-4 weeks give or take.. until they are around 5-6"... xplant and into flower, they finish around 2 foot.

If you are soil growing, the deeper the better. Cannabis loves to dig its roots down deep. The deeper the container the deeper young roots penetrate encouraging good health. Young plants will definitely be more vigorous & grow faster if the root zone is large from the beginning of the plants life cycle. Unimpeded area for new feeder roots to shoot down in search of food & water will create a great start for your new seedlings to establish themselves as strong vibrant plants. Remember, cannabis is a weed. It will grow in some of the worst conditions, however most growers strive to grow the best cannabis they can without inhibiting growth as to speed crop production. Would wide containers work well too? I have wondered about deeper vs. wider

I just read an article about wide planters in High Times, and in short, yes. Wide is good if you want to keep your plant from getting too tall.

When I was a kid I was told that a plant can only grow as far wide as the root system is. This is kinda/sorta true. A wider root system is better at supporting a wider, shorter, bushier plant.
