Ok, so most people will not touch a VAPIR after all the bad reviews from the first couple of versions.

I just bought the VAPIR v5.0, and got it today. Let me tell you. This is a very nice device...IMHO.

for $150.00 you get a lot of stuff, nicohale (i just looked at it more and it is no nicotine, smells like melaluca/sage) cartridges, inflation kit, and 5 balloons, a DVD of instructions, like 8-10 extra herb discs, 2 whips (not real whips, just tubes), a mouthpiece and a stand.

Here you can see it warming up, without the herb drawer (plastic with ceramic guts). You can also see the hand strap. Like a camcorder.

Works great, it needs some fine tuning with all the connections. I will probably make my own adapters like from the whip to the bag and whip to the device. They just kinda stick in.

The fan (at all speeds) is really loud for such a small thing. So if you are trying to be stealthy, this is not for you.

No major leaking. Very small amounts that don't bother me around the top of the unit.

Unit heats really fast, faster than a lot of vapes out there for sure. It is basically a digital heatgun type vape.

Overall I would give it a 4/5. Only because the fan is pretty damn loud.

I am going to drill holes around the bottom of the base to give it more than the 1/8th" space at the bottom for air flow.

Thanks for the review, good to hear they have ironed out some of the problems of the old versions. I was another one put off buying one because of the bad press they had gotten, but I may just have to pick one of these up :)

How many hits do you normally get off one bag?

I am still figuring out how much to fill without wasting vape. The bag I took a pic of was probably ~60-70% full. I took 2 huge hits and the wife took two smaller ones and I still took another regular hit to finish the bag.

One bag is plenty to get you sky high. The bags do not have the valve like the 'cano so it needs some modifying.

I also just smoked straight out of it with the mouthpiece. Finished a whole disc starting at 250 working up to 350...using the fan speed to adjust the outflow of vape.

I was and still am pretty damn high. I have had 2 or 3 bags with the wife and my solo sesh. since noon CST.

I'd consider raising it with spacers (such as washers, a couple of pencils) and see what happens before drilling.

I did, I held it up and it heated faster and was a tiny bit more quiet. I just drilled one 3/4" hole in the side of the stand and it worked just the same.

It just was not getting the perfect amount of air.

The stand is an accessory, in case you thought it was a main part of the unit, which is designed for hand held use. That...I would not drill into. It is the same as looking down a heatgun; elements and ceramic.

too bad it looks like a hand trigger for a suicide bomber.

i bought an iolite. sending it in for warranty repair.

i heard there was a pen sized vaporizer somewhere but can't find it.

Portable vape is the future but no one has a great one yet that is STEALTH.

Congrats btw. That thing looks pretty cool!

I think what it would come down to for me...if buying a new vape...would be, in terms of priority ordered highest to lowest,

Safety of materials used
Convenience
Price/Durability
And efficiency would just be assumed

I still like my analog volcano but the price on it is just stupid!
The vapir seems to lack convenience but for the price of what I used to pay for one of those 'box vaporizers' 5 or so years ago....man o man how long things have come...! Love it.

Weird..I have an iOlite too. I love it... Just does not hold as much.

There is a crackpipe looking one that is pretty good. It is blue AL with a little glass jar on the end...in a bit I will see if I can find it.

i love it when it works. it's so stealth i've used it in bars, in line at the 711 buying cigs. i was drunk and didn't care. normally i would be more noided out to do that.

anyways, it's a great device once you get used to it. I'm saving for a Volcanoe. I love the instant gratification of how quick the balloon fills up. can't beat that.

but for portability so far the Iolite is the best in my opinion.

I still use it, but not as often. The fan sound is really annoying. I may try changing it out. Tape is needed to seal a lot of the cracks. I may form some epoxy to fill the gaps a little.

Still, not to bad for the $$$

I have an older Vapir1, I break it out every now and then because I feel stupid having spent so much on a POS. Is the new one able to keep the temps up for more than ten minutes? The old one would overheat and turn off the heating element after about ten minutes at temp. Grrrr. They heat up much faster if you leave the tray in them, but with no metal bowl in it yet. When it's hot pop your disc in and then go to town.
