Shingles.......ARGH!

Just makes me want to scream! So painful...

It's a rash looking thing going from my back round to my chest! Full on shingles...

Any ideas for the pain?

An anesthetic(spl.?- numbs pain) spray w/Aloe from store. Spray so don't have to touch. Could try vicodon or the like, but be careful of addiction.

shingles DOES mess up nerves permanently. I was under a period of extremely high stress for a period of time in my life and my immune system feel victim to blood pressure, stress, insomnia, improper diet....and I "triggered" shingles in my system. Guess for those that don't know it is caused by the same virus as chicken pox. The immunization that you get as a child leaves the virus dormant...and for many people this is never an issue. But if you have EVER had chicken pox, you are susceptible to shingles....

Anyway, I had no clue this was happening and just kinda went on with life. When I started feeling severe pain on my arms b/c of wind blowing, I knew something was wrong. Doctor told me I had probably been living with it for close 1.5 years in order to have the symptoms I was describing...

As a result, I now have nerve damage in my back...entire left side....not pleasant at all.

Plain and simple....get to a doctor!

I got it on my forehead 8 year ago ,very painful, permanent nerve damage, go to doctor the
famcylclovir shorten the duration but must be started within 72 hour of the rash appearing.
Do not touch rash then touch eye I got it in one eye and it fucked me up big time basically disoved my iris, more pain than you could imagine. 18 months of treatment to save eye Bad Shit. Creams that you use for sore muscle's you know those hot linament type help with the pain but don't put on open sore. Tiger Balm .Go see a doctor ASAP Good Luck

fed norris, that post is not amusing at all.
I've had shingles too and I really sympathise. It is horrible. Use acyclovir, fast.

I had shingles about 6 years ago on my left shoulder. I thought at first it was a bug bite then it spread out more and more and I went to go see my doctor. Because it was so long ago I can't remember the exact name of the cream he prescribed but I went to a Pharmacy, ordered the cream, used as directed, and it went away.

You would never know today which shoulder it was on! It really does work

All I know, is to stay away from the asbestos ones...they can cause cancer and other respiratory problems...

On a serious note, if shingles is left untreated, it can and will cause serious nerve damage and is very uncomfortable. I knew someone who had it on there inner thighs and now has nerve damage in legs and crotch! From what I remember, it was so uncomfortable for said person, that even after being treated w/ all types of creams and meds, the only thing that helped the pain was putting ice-packs (store bought gel ones) in between his crotch through-out the entire day. Not a pretty sight and in my guess, could have a sever impact on sperm production...okay, now Im rambling...again, see a doctor!

Acyclovir is a dideoxy nucleotide. Viruses are not to particular about what they consume to create protein chains they require to replicate. The dideoxy nucelotides are just like other nucleotides but they have bad molecular attachment points so once incorporated into the protein synthesis....the protein chains cannot be elongated.

It's a sound theory, and it works in clinical practice.....HOWEVER....that being said...
your body will utilize the same dideoxy nucleotides in it's own process of building tissue.

That's bad.

Best to not try things like Valtrex and those oral types of drugs that work the same way.

If you wanted to use a topical cream version of acyclovir like Zovirax...it would work, but if you read my last post on this subject, and took my advice.....Monolaurin would already be en route to assist you.

NON-TOXIC, non-carcinogenic, non-mutagenic, non-teratogenic. Will not screw up your other cells, and it's made from Coconut.....how can you beat that with a stick?

It's like a F.U.C.K.I.N.G. pina colada for your cells....and you'll thank me later.

The best thing you can do is take advice if Access is giving it! This is one of the brightest people you'll ever meet!

What we wish is that Access would create a thread sometime soon so we can all pick a little at his brain. I actually included you in the "members you miss on ICmag" as if you went away. LOL.

Where have you been Access? Create a thread so we can all chime in!

Socal...there's tons brighter peeps here....don't make me blush. But I certainly wouldn't give advice if I didn't think it were valuable.

As far as picking my brain, I have to let the scabs heal first.

I always have a thread rollin' somewhere. Just been busy. You can always find me in the F.A.M.I.L.Y. JEWELS thread sitting in the corner vaping however. Don't forget what "Tangina" says: Cross over children. All are welcome. All welcome. Go into the Light. There is peace and serenity in the Light.

Doctor said this is a pretty bad case of the Shingles. It is absolutely massive, i feel to post some pics lol.

Currently i am taking Famciclovir and Solpadol...not really helping..

My way of dealing with it at the moment is getting sky high and just going to sleep. I always wake up in pain. Oh well...hopefully it won't last, my birthday is next friday...screwed.

Thanks for all the responses peeps!
