Has sexual Harassment laws ruined it for women?

My hopes for this thread is to find the truth.

The other day a coworker was complaining about how she got a ticket for not comming to a complete stop at a stop sign. I was shocked. I was shocked that she couldn't some how get out of this jam. She is 23 5'11 long blonde hair, green eyes. She is so hot that I always wonder why she is doing this crappy job? Why hasn't she just landed some sugar daddy.

I asked her if the cop was a male. She said yes, a white guy in his mid 40's. Yet she still got the ticket.

Then I saw an article about how women are getting busted for DUI at a record rate.

I wonder if days gone by, if cops would just let tipsy hot women off with a warning.

In the middle of a harsh recession/depression such as we are in now,
would women be better off if there were no sexual harassment laws?

Please save the hate, I'm just a curious social scientist.

..what. No, women would not be better off without sexual harassment laws. What does a woman getting a DUI have to do with sexual harassment?? If a woman is driving drunk she SHOULD get a ticket. If she's not smart enough to have a DD, then she deserves to pay for being irresponsible. I mean. Seriously.

As far as not stopping completely at a stop sign, if you are still moving, then you haven't "stopped". I have slowed down at stop signs before and rolled through without completely stopping, I'll admit that. But I would not complain if a cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket for it. There's no reason a cop should just let someone off without a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign just because they are physically attractive. Warnings won't teach you to not be a dumbass, a ticket might, though.

I dunno I've gotten out of a few tickets cause of my gender/& looks.. once lol.. ok now ya'll might think this is scandalous.. but I really "played" the part of POOR WITTLE FEMALE one night years and years ago... I was in the middle of BFE and didn't see anyone so I ran a stop (lol)... anyways, cop comes out of nowhere and pulls me over.. this is like a total residential area.. and at night. wondering wtf he was doing there.. anyways, he pulls me over, and says you ran a stop I said yea it was too late, it's dark & I couldnt see the sign till it was too late *giggle* LMAO ok so he goes to his car.. gets a map.. and says where are you going.. I said "so and so street"... even though I knew how to get there.. ok yes I know scandalous but it got me out of a ticket...

now 3 years ago, I got pulled over for supposedly not stopping at a sign, when I did.. but there were a bunch of bushes in the way & he didnt see me stop but saw me start.. and I contested this to him, and because I wasnt all sweet and feminine I like cussed him out, he gave me a ticket. I think sometimes that being a sweet innocent female gets you out of a lot .. for those females that like to use that act.. however I do not feel the need to sugar coat anything or not say my peace cause im trying to be a sweet fake innocent fakey fake female...

ok so my point if you've even read half of what I wrote...I think sexual harassment laws are good but I dont see the correlation to what your analogy was.... lol

Equal is equal. Not all men are douches...

Wait, there are sexual harassment laws? They only exist in the workplace right? And even then its not criminal is it? As long as it doesn't become assault?

I don't give hot girls anything for free, unless I actually kind of like her.. But that kind of stuff usually turns me off anyways.

Anyways, women dont need breaks, maybe it sucks that they dont get them anymore (if that is even true, or measurable) but they dont need them. They are as capable as a man. If they go around life looking for free breaks, it shows the kind of human they are, not sex.. Men go looking for breaks too, and get them. I sweet talked a few girls before..

Where am I going with this? I hardly even know what I've said.. I just toked down on two bowls of Hindu Skunk so ya

lulz. I got pulled over the other night for one of my break lights being out and I honestly think when he realized that I was female his voice and attitude changed completely. I usually just try to relate to the cops in some way, small talk, distract them, etc. I told this cop that I've known my break light was messing up and that my dad had been trying to figure out why it keeps going out. And the cop was cool and just told me to get it looked at.

I think it depends on the degree of whatever your potential charge is, as well. And it especially depends on which cop pulls you over. Some cops are real decent people and are very understanding as long as you are not drunk off your ass or pull out a gun on them. And then you have some cops that are looking for trouble and want to get anyone with anything they can possibly think of.

Don't stick your pecker in the cash register....

It's easy to get caught up in, but it usually ends up in a one person getting fired or demoted or some crazy drama.

Work is work, play is play. Or you might end up not working and not playing at all. :biglaugh: Seen it a few times.

Obviously sexual harassment is wrong so it becomes a very delicate case by case situation kind of thing.

dude lololol

Your questioning that someone broke a traffic law and then received a ticket from that action???

How is that shocking at all? It seems like the most simple thing to understand.

Wow. Which is more offensive, the premise of the question, or the spelling and grammar?

I don't think that protecting employees and civilians from unwanted sexual advance is a bad thing. If she had been able to get out of the ticket, then what the hell would that be? That puts men at a disadvantage, because most cops are straight men. How about nobody has to worry about being made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe because someone else is a grabby perv?

sexual harassment laws ruined it for men and women! Sane laws that don't always just take the woman's word for it and don't include things that aren't really harassment would be different and would be a good thing. But asking someone out is not really harassment. Pinching ass, which used to be commonly done 1970's and earlier, is harassment I guess, but should not result in any legal ramifications or termination for a first offense. Things have just gotten out of hand. Both sexes have to exist in an atmosphere of fear. It is not right.

Still slightly (though only vaguely) on topic.....

Kid slows down for a stop sign and keeps going. Cop pulls him over.

Cop: Did you see the sign back there?
Kid: Yes.
Cop: What does it say?
Kid: It says Stop. I slowed down though and you can see for miles that nobody was coming.
Cop: The sign says Stop. You didn't.
Kid: Hey... I slowed down enough.

Cop: I believe we're having an issue with your understanding of the word stop. Here, let me help you.

Cop pulls the kid out of the car, handcuffs him and starts beating him over the head with his nightstick.

Cop: Now.... do you want me to "Stop".... or do you want me to "Slow Down"?

I thought it was funny. :D

I think I get what you're trying to say.

I think the sexual harassment laws aren't quite the issue, however. I think it's more the feminist movement that tries to paint men as horrible people (for oppressing women, and for being general perverts and assholes) and the current lawsuit era that couples together to use that law beyond what *should* happen.

Not all feminists are like this, so I'm not saying all feminists are bad, but what I'm saying is that if a guy makes a sexual advance on women that isn't indecent, he still can face a lot in the civil courts if the women has these notions in her head. The law isn't wrong, but people use it in extreme circumstances and exaggerate what is and isn't sexual assault.

As a result, men shy away from their masculinity for fear of litigation. Thus, we all shift toward androgyny. Cops stop caring how hot a girl is one of the obvious results.
