My 2010 spring/summer grow in a tree...

This has been one of the warmest winters in our history here where I live, just outside Portland, Oregon. So I decided to start a little project for the spring. There is this tree by where I play drums at, and It has a 3 foot deep natural hole in it, a few feet from the base.
So a few weeks ago, I filled it with some nearby soil, that I broke down so there were no chunks left, and then mixed that with some Ocean Forest soil and added alot of little rocks to the mix.....here is the tree hole...

I have a 2 month old clone of a strain I got done flowering last month, and its really good, and low odor also. So I went ahead and planted it in the tree hole that I prepared a few weeks ago..

Its been there for almost 2 weeks now, and it is doing great. No leaves have been lost, no fading of any leaves color wise, its grown a bit also. I plan on it growing outwards and upwards from the tree, and this spot gets around 8 hours of direct light, plus a few shaded hours..
I will try and update this every week or so, its a local urban spot...lol (its out of the way enough though I hope). I plan on a small spring harvest, and then Ill let it reveg for a huge summer harvest...peace

damn that shits pretty smart, i never even thought of that. there's plenty of trees around my way with holes in them like that, i just get scared of grubs or termite bug like little fuckers eating my plants up. good luck man!

*edit* i see a bike reflector there, is that to mark your grow to see? just remember what you could see any one else could see it also. I'd find another way to mark your grow man, maybe breaking tree branches in a certain way, or putting rocks a certain way you would only notice.

Thanks guys for the positive feedback. I thought this would be something not many people have thought of before, and it will look really cool when she is 6+ feet tall..lol

Oh, that reflector was part of some trash that was down there for years I assume, I cleaned it all up though since the pics. I feel ya on that though, what I can see, others can as well, ill try and be stealth for sure..peace

not trying to down your grow by any means...
but trash = people
people = trash

how are you sure it's from years ago? it could have been recently a biker going down your way. i'm just trying to give you solid advice here, i wouldn't want you to invest in some thing so much and have some one rip it man.

best wishes,

Its all good man, I appreciate the solid advice...
This spot is down in a canyon, its very secluded, even though its very urban. There are no trails or anything that go into, or around the area.

I believe some of the trash washes into the area from up-creek, when it gets swollen and fast from all the rain, it sort of collects there in that spot , but I could be way wrong..lol. Alot of it was chip bags and cans and from the 80's, really old faded shizz..

Anyhow if it gets ripped, im not really worried or anything. This is more of just a cool experimental grow for me than anything (I have too many plants), I have more secluded spots out of town that im going to start next month for backup..

Here are some more pics I just took today..

Notice the alder catkin that fell on the plant, its kinda cool how its draped over the branch perfectly..

Very interesting spot - nice! It's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow - if this unprecedented mild winter continues through spring your plants will do great for sure.

What kind of genetics are in the larger clone in the tree?

Right on, thanks man...

Its a sour diesel crossed with an unknown strain, I got it from a good friend locally....

We smoked our indoor harvest over the last few months, its been soooo stoney and tasty, I knew that it was a keeper, I just hope its mold resistant...lol

I planted another 2 month old clone today of another sensi star, This spot is a few miles out of town, in the deep woods.....

I have a water source (creek) really close to where I planted here, which is nice...There is soo much food in this forest for the deer to eat, so I am thinking that im going to take my chances, and not put any protection around this one..(if I loose it no biggie...lol)

Here is the surrounding habitat..

just wait till things dry up you don't want to go making trails to all your plants, and trails happen faster when things are wet. I wanna see this plant bigger than the tree and not get swiped
