Imagine our World with NO WARS, NO HUNGER, NO LAWS, NO PRISONS-The Venus Project 2010

I have known about The Venus Project for about a year now. It seems like the perfect solution to getting Earthlings to work together to achieve a positive, clean, sustainable future for our children, their children and many more generations to come.

This vision doesn't discriminate between race, religion, nationality etc either, no one around the World would be homeless, hungry or poor in accordance with The Venus Project vision. You definately will not be poor as the monetary system will be abolished.

How is this possible you ask? Jacque Fresco-The Venus Project leader-proposes moving to a Resource Based Economy:

The term and meaning of a Resource-Based Economy was originated by Jacque Fresco. It is a system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, credits, barter or any other system of debt or servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all of the inhabitants, not just a select few. The premise upon which this system is based is that the Earth is abundant with plentiful resource; our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant and counter productive to our survival.

Modern society has access to highly advanced technology and can make available food, clothing, housing and medical care; update our educational system; and develop a limitless supply of renewable, non-contaminating energy. By supplying an efficiently designed economy, everyone can enjoy a very high standard of living with all of the amenities of a high technological society.

As we outgrow the need for professions based on the monetary system, for instance lawyers, bankers, insurance agents, marketing and advertising personnel, salespersons, and stockbrokers, a considerable amount of waste will be eliminated. Considerable amounts of energy would also be saved by eliminating the duplication of competitive products such as tools, eating utensils, pots, pans and vacuum cleaners. Choice is good. But instead of hundreds of different manufacturing plants and all the paperwork and personnel required to turn out similar products, only a few of the highest quality would be needed to serve the entire population. Our only shortage is the lack of creative thought and intelligence in ourselves and our elected leaders to solve these problems. The most valuable, untapped resource today is human ingenuity.

With the elimination of debt, the fear of losing one's job will no longer be a threat This assurance, combined with education on how to relate to one another in a much more meaningful way, could considerably reduce both mental and physical stress and leave us free to explore and develop our abilities.

Here are a couple of excerpts from The Venus Project website on energy sources that I found very interesting:

Geothermal Energy:
As refinements in conversion technologies increase its feasibility, geothermal energy will come to take on a more prominent role. Readily available in various geographical regions throughout the world, both on land and under the sea, this energy source alone could provide enough clean energy for the next thousand years.

Solar Power:
Solar power has tremendous potential from photovoltaic panels that store energy in batteries for private use to large scale solar plants on land and in the sea. The radiation that strikes the Earth’s surface each year is more than 10,000 times the world's energy use. New technologies are constantly merging to harness this potential.

So if the above statements on energy sources are correct, then this makes me wonder why we are still using fossil fuels like coal and oil when there are other cleaner-earth friendly options available? All of which have been available for a VERY long time!

It is nice to know that there are people on this planet that do think further than there wallets and can see a future past there wallets too.

I hope this vision can become a reality, I really do.

Check it out for yourself, it looks really promising. The information I have provided from their website only scratches the surface, there is much more info there for you to take in and debate with others.

If or when you check this topic out come back here and leave your comments on what you think about The Venus Project and their proposals.

We won't know what's coming until it hits us dead-on.

Honestly, I just want the suffering to end. I'm tired of diseases, of violence, and especially tired of children being left alone. But it's hard to be free in a world where each person attempts to define freedom.

It's a cult, dude.

Jacque Fresco is an Honorary Guide in the "Raelian Movement" which is essentially a new-age UFO sex-cult. Bill Gates is also involved, if I'm not mistaken.

First we need a population drop. I big one. The current resources are not enough to sustain human activity at it's current pace. I'm all for shipping 6.3 billion people to Venus.

Next. What about me? Why should I be concerned with the future of everyone's kids? I didn't take that route, why should I change the path I'm on if I'm not gaining anything?

I would rather live on a raging river than a stagnate pond.

This sounds like the general intent behind communism. I mean, yes ideally we're all nice and share with each other, but we evolved from survival of the fittest. Even children want to get one-up on each other. It's in our genes.
A good first step towards "kinder, nicer" is obviously free access to the good herb for all mankind. Who doesn't feel more like sharing when they're good and toasted?

Anyway, keep dreaming, but watch out for reality, it bites. :)

Oh yeah, less choices screws small business, so I can't support the idea in the slightest.

Hi Desant.

(From the FAQ's)
Question 8, Wouldn’t there be Resistance of the Rich and Powerful?

What you had to say about the rich and powerful being resistant to such a society in many cases is true, however if they keep using automation in their industries, as they have to in order to compete, millions of people will be replaced by machines. This includes not only the assembly line workers but also doctors, engineers, architects and the like. As they lose their purchasing power, the very industries that depend on them can no longer function. This will bring an end to the old outworn monetary system. It is not a question of them giving up their industries; it is that their greed will eventually render them obsolete.

Only when science and technology are used with human concern in a world in which all of the earth’s resources are held as the common heritage of all of the earth’s people can we truly say that there is intelligent life on earth.

I'm sure the answer to your second question is in the list of FAQ's. If it isn't check out the forum link on The Venus Project website, the forum is there to raise such questions.

Thanks for the sig compliment bro :tiphat:

It's a cult, dude.

Jacque Fresco is an Honorary Guide in the "Raelian Movement" which is essentially a new-age UFO sex-cult. Bill Gates is also involved, if I'm not mistaken.

I hadn't heard that statement before, so I just done a 5 minute reccy.
The "Raelian Movement" you talk about is a cult for sure-no doubt. I have no qualms about this though, people believe different things-some of which can seem fantastical. I for one believe in E.T's, whether we have been visited by E.T's, or if E.T's have the means to travel to us remains a mystery.

The Venus Project however is not a cult and to bind the two together would undermine the hard work put into a sustainable future for all earthlings by Jacques with The Venus Project.

From the cult site:
"Rael has bestowed the title of Honorary Guide of the Raelian Movement to Jacques Fresco."

"For the Prophet Rael to name Jacques an Honorary Guide (aka Honorary Priest) of the Raelian Movement means that Jacques has dedicated his life to the betterment of Humanity as a whole. Not just one country, one race, one religion, but the whole of humanity."

So as you can see the 'Honorary Guide of the Raelian Movement' honour was given to Jacques for his work for humanity as a gift, it's similar I suppose to an honorary degree given out by a university to someone-even though the person has had no connection with the university in a scholarly fashion.

So my point is, that The Venus Project and The Realian Movement are completely different things.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention though MarquisBlack, that's a heap more reading for me to do now on top of everything else LOL.

Peace :tiphat:

STAR TREK. The whole thing collapses without a holodeck.
We will always have war. War is the mother of everything.

Hi Mandingo, check the site and see if they answer your War is the mother of everything claim. I can't find it right now. I'll improvise an answer and suggest that with everything is in abundance. Food, water, shelter, clothes and even drugs etc then there would be nothing to go to war for in the first place?

First we need a population drop. I big one. The current resources are not enough to sustain human activity at it's current pace. I'm all for shipping 6.3 billion people to Venus.

Next. What about me? Why should I be concerned with the future of everyone's kids? I didn't take that route, why should I change the path I'm on if I'm not gaining anything?

I would rather live on a raging river than a stagnate pond.

Softies...

Hi facelift, either I'm stoned or you are LOL :) .....The Venus Project is on Earth not Venus.

Well the path we are all on at the moment isn't that rosy when you look at all of the pain that has happened over years and years-wars, famine, disease etc.

So even without 'thinking about somebody elses kids', the question is why wouldn't you want to change the path your on?

No wars, No famine, No disease, everything you wanted on tap (until the resources ran out that is), shelter over your head, top level education etc etc. That's enough to make me switch paths-do these ideals not appeal to you? Whether you have children or not?

Jacque states that there are plenty of resources available to care for humanity for a long time to come. Things will be built to last, and people will be educated to repair, instead of adopting the 'throwaway' culture that we have been pushed towards for years.

This sounds like the general intent behind communism.

(From the FAQ's)
Question 55, How does The Venus Project Compare with Communism?

Communism being similar to a resource-based economy or The Venus Project is an erroneous concept. Communism has money, banks, armies, police, prisons, charismatic personalities, social stratification, and is managed by appointed leaders. The Venus Project's aim is to surpass the need for the use of money. Police, prisons and the military would no longer be necessary when goods, services, healthcare, and education are available to all people. The Venus Project would replace politicians with a cybernated society in which all of the physical entities are managed and operated by computerized systems. The only region that the computers do not operate or manage is the surveillance of human beings. This would be completely unnecessary and considered socially offensive. A society that uses technology without human concern has no basis of survival. Communism has no blueprint or methodology to carry out their ideals and along with capitalism, fascism, and socialism, will ultimately go down in history as failed social experiments.

Oh yeah, less choices screws small business, so I can't support the idea in the slightest.

The future will not have any businesses at all, "In a resource-based economy of abundance, money will become irrelevant."

There are many disadvantages to using this old method of exchange for goods and services. We will consider just a few here and let you add to this list on your own.

1. Money is just an interference between what one needs and what one is able to get. It is not money that people need, it is access to resources.

2. The use of money results in social stratification and elitism based primarily on economic disparity.

3. People are not equal without equal purchasing power.

4. Most people are slaves to jobs they do not like because they need the money.

5. There is tremendous corruption, greed, crime, embezzlement, and more caused by the need for money.

6. Most laws are enacted for the benefit of corporations, which have enough money to lobby, bribe, or persuade government officials to make laws that serve their interests.

7. Those who control purchasing power have greater influence.

8. Money is used to control the behavior of those with limited purchasing power.

9. Goods such as foods are sometimes destroyed to keep prices up; when things are scarce prices increase.

10. There is tremendous waste of material and strain on available resources from superficial design changes for newer later fads each year in order to create continuous markets for manufacturers.

11. There is tremendous environmental degradation due to the high cost of better methods of waste disposal.

12. The Earth is being plundered for profit.

13. The benefits of technology are only distributed to those with sufficient purchasing power.

14. Most important, when the corporation’s bottom line is profit, decisions in all areas are made not for the benefit of people and the environment, but primarily for the acquisition of wealth, property, and power.

Well I hope I answered some of your questions in a basic form, like I said the site is there for everyone to see-give it a chance and have a look. If it doesn't answer your question, then you can always get in touch with Jacques or ask your question in the forum if you get chance.

Peace :tiphat:

this is a nice thought but, you'll need other countries on board,i dont think they'll like us ditching the monetary system when we owe so much, also who's gonna do the dirty jobs that no one will get joy out of,i think its just to flawed to work.although if we distributed work card that would enable you to receive goods from stores might help, but to most that seems like a socialist idea, so back to the drawing board.

initially there is only one silver bullet: lower the population. really lower it... by say 65%. until we do this we will flounder - and our 'solutions' will be too little too late. i mean where does it stop? 14 billion? 40 billion? before something comes along and thins the herd and it won't be pretty.

it seems that collectively we no smarter than a infestation of tent caterpillars. we may be close to a huge lesson in evolution...

I think my version of the Venus Project is more accurate of the way it works. The planet is overpopulated and can't survive the rapid rate of growths. Of course the message everyone hears these days, and seems to be okay with, is a system will be of even distribution where no one runs short of resources. Free Love and Greenpeace. This will require fewer people.

My version, 6.3 billion people get shipped off to Venus, is pretty accurate, all it needs is a motivator like sustainability, or some color that makes us feel good about giving up, for people to turn the other cheek on what's really going on. We are under attack. Not just IC members, but all the peasants and commoners. This planet is intended for the rich, powerful, and well to do. There's even a monument to this and a secret movement in place to see that it gets done.

http://www.radioliberty.com/stones.htm

Our food sources are corrupted and if we truly understood this, we wouldn't eat anything, and would see that someone is trying to get rid of us. Everything from growth hormones to hexane is being added as well as many other toxins many of us have read about. These additives cause bone damage, nerve damage and alterations and mutations to our fundamental DNA components.

Our laws are being changed restricting our rights to just about everything from bearing arms, the right to life, our liberties and justice. And even our right to defend ourselves.

Don't give in to socialist ideas. This is your life, live it they way you choose to.

That's some Malthusian nonsense. Quintus Septimius Florens Tertullianus claimed that back in the 2nd century, Paul R. Ehrlich's book "The Population Bomb" claimed that in the 60's and now you. It was wrong then and it's, without exception, wrong now. It's born of a fundamental misunderstanding of the economic nature of raw resources vs usable economic goods.
