I've been doing this for many years

herbs, tomatoes, peas, chiles are always a popular choice,...anything really that doesn't need 4 foot deep soil,......but I made a 14" deep box and planted baby & ball carrots one time, and they were just amazing (grew them in moonshine's mix)

the short day length when your flowering can make some leafy veggies "bolt", that is start trying to make seed,....but you just chop them, make salad or chard soup, and stick in something else.

I worked as a professional chef for many years, so I always like to have fresh herbs around, so I have a french box: tarragon/lemon thyme/chervil and an italian box: oregano/marjoram/rosemary with separate pots for flat leaf parsley, and chives.
I'm also running a sweet 100 cherry tomato, and some sprouting trays for "micro greens", which are just radish, broccoli, pea & arugala sprouts harvested very young at an inch long. (they cost freakin $5.00 in the store for a 3oz box?)

I imagine you could also do baby lettuces behind a shade screen too.

I haven't had anything I tried that DIDN'T work, but then again, I'm not trying to grow corn indoors!

I love it, you get fresh veggies, and your smoke at the same time.

I'm glad to hear you've had such success. I am not a professional chef, but I love to cook with fresh ingrediants also. My wife wont let me grow dope no more, but I still love indoor gardening and have lots of lights and supplies. I was planning on doing a shelving rack with florescents over each shelf on 18/6, and using it to grow lettuces year round, as well as growing my starters for the outdoor veggie garden. I also want to use my HPS for offseason tomatoes, egglant, and annual herbs (off season also). Outdoors I got cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, sweet pepper, hot peppers, bell peppers, radish, carrots, scallions, mesclun lettuce mix, tomatoes, shallots, rosemary, sage, thyme, cilantro, basil, parsley, oregano, and chives. Thanks to growing MJ for years, I have found that i love to garden, and it doesn't matter what im growing so long as i can use it. Maybe one day they will legalize, and my wife will let me grow again, then i can just stick them next to my tomatoes ;)

P.S. I also will be experimenting with some vegetables that do not do well in my zone, and try to adjust my climate indoors.

I used to grow carrots, cucumbers, lettuce's, variety of peppers in my grow rooms. Only got space for peppers now.

I even grew a watermelon plant but had to kill it when it started eating my room hahahaha.. I just wanted to do it..

The perfect companion plant we've found so far is Inca squash,, aka achocha. These plants climb the walls and the leaves resemble each other when mature.

(back plant in photo)..

Otherwise a variety of plants will grow happily side by side with ganja,,, especially herbs,, the main problem is other plants can attract unwanted insects

not really,......

there are several "indoor" strains of chiles, and tomatoes (like my sweet 100's), that grow VERY well along with the girls.

I keep the veggies through several harvests of cannabis,...so far none have freaked out when I go from 24/0 for 2-3 weeks, to 12/12, and then BACK to 24/0 when the next crop goes in, EXCEPT the lettuces,..they bolt instantly when I flip to 12/12, and I never have them longer than 30-40 days anyway, so no big deal

Started some lavender seeds to keep around the grow area as an oder mask.

 we potted on a load of plugs last season that have now been transplanted as plants for exactly the same reason

Plus lavender reminds us of chasing bees as children :D

Chasing bees? Around here bees chase me.

Bees are harmless ,, they work in factotum,, just dont get in the way of their flowers.

Chasing bees (and butterflies) is still what we do when we aren't playing with plants.. only these days we catch them on camera ,, rather than in jam-jars :D
