4x4 tent Reflector Advice

Hey guys last run I used a Super Sun 2 hood from sun systems with a 600w hortilux and I got great results. However I noticed the the spread was more like a rectangular pillar of light then a uniform 4x4 spread.

So I am considering upgrading my hood in order to cover a 4x4 tent with the most effective 600w spread. The choices I have come up with are as follows:
Magnum XXXL 6" Dimensions: 32 1/2" long x 26 1/4" wide x 7 3/4" tall.
Blockbuster 6" Dimensions: 25 1/2" long x 25 1/2" wide x 10" tall.
Or should I just stick with the
Super Sun 2 6" Dimensions: 26 ¼" long x 13" wide x 8 " tall.

At the moment I am leaning towards the Block buster because it's L and W dimensions are exactly the same so theoretically it should put out the most even light spread, however I have heard the Magnum XXXL 6" gives off an excellent spread as well. Ah the choices.

Yeah what a about cooltubes. Also maybe check out the reflectorized bulbs. HTG supply has them i believe on eBay. 400 or 600w. I'm not sure if that's what u want but I believe they have 95% reflectivity. I' also think I saw a reflector that specializes in light spread. I'll take a look and see if I can find a link

Thanks man but I think cool tubes aren't quite as efficient in reflecting capability and even light spread as the reflectors I've chosen. Thanks for telling me about those reflectorized bulbs. I have never even heard of those before. I looked at them on HTG and they are definitely interesting.

At the moment I am leaning towards the blockbuster because sun systems site even says it is perfect for a 4 x 4 area.

It would indeed be really cool to throw a 1000w inside the tent but I beelive those are better suited for 5 x 5. In anycase I already have the whole 600w set up(lamp, ballast, SS2 hood) but I am stuck on the fence between the block buster and the magnum xxxl.

i have a 4x4 sunhutxl and i just threw in another 600 and it solved the problem.im almost wishing i did the Magnum XXXL 6" because it would be cheaper changing bulbs out and it would of just been 1 light instead of 2

To determine proper lamp sizing, you use the 50 watt per square foot rule, meaning cannabis does best with 50+ watts per square foot.

Therefore, the correct size for a 1kw lamp would be 4x4, giving 62.5 wpsf. At 5x5, you're only getting 40 wpsf.

For a 600, you want a 3x3, giving 66 watts per square foot. At 4x4, it's only at 37.5 watts per square foot.

For a 400, I use a 2x3, giving me 66 watts per square foot, compared to the 3x3 providing 44 watts per square foot.

Hope that cleared some things up!

All of the reflectors were tested at a minimum distance of 18". As such, if one's setup allows for a lower height above the plants, the results aren't necessarily applicable. Let me give an example. My big room runs 600HPS' with their SS Cool-Sun reflectors sitting ~10-12" above the canopy. Based on that thread, I bought a SS2 to test. At the same height (10-12" above the canopy), the SS2 doesn't have anywhere near the coverage and dispersion of a Cool-Sun, even though the test pointed to an alternate conclusion. I'm actually waiting for another Cool-Sun to arrive sometime tomorrow. I guess I'm trying to say that one must gauge the information per his garden's config.

I have a Super Sun 2 that I replaced with a cool sun 6" for that very same reason.
I was looking for the Blockbuster, but the guys at the hydro store had to ship
them all back because they wouldn't seal. I got the cool sun because its pretty much
square( 23.5x24.5) and it's cheaper.

4X4 is the right size space for a vertical 600, just ditch the reflector. ;)
I have seen grow's like that. They really do look good. and a lot of nugs are produced, but my current style I believe calls for a hood. may try it in the future though.

Ya that thread is awesome. I got my SS2 before I saw the thread. It certainly has impressive spread for 3x3 but i don't know about 4x4.

Kcar The same exact thing happened to me. I also got a Cool Sun. It gives off a great spread.

Thanks for helping out everyone.
