HydroHut Silver 2x4 with 600w?

Thats the question..... Is a 600 to big for this tent IYO?

I Plan on running 6-8 plants, and just dont have the room for a 3x3.

TIME TO UPGRADE!!

Getting an entire new set up..... This is what Im thinking.....a 2x4 hydrohut silver edition, 4'' vortex, goblin filter, cool tube, and a lumetek 600w switchable/dimable.

What do you all think?

600 is not too big IMHO, but you're going to need solid ventilation and an enclosed hood at a minimum. I have zero experience with 4" vortex fans or goblin filters, but I would really consider going with a 6" setup all the way through. The only 600 I've shoehorned into a space like that ended up giving me some pretty nasty heat issues using a 4" fantech for exhaust, finally went with a 6" grotek that worked well and cut my heat problems down from "all the time" to "occasionally".

I have a Mills Pride C22 that's almost the same size with a 600HPS. Temps run 1-2F above ambient. You'll need a 6" centrifugal fan - I run a Vortex - an aircooled reflector (cool tubes limit dispersion), and a bigass filter. I run Can66s, and have used Can50s in the past. Good luck.

I've got a 1k in a 3' x 3', so it's definitely doable. I'd go something bigger then a goblin though. You're gonna have to slow the airflow down to use the goblin effectively, which will in turn limit your air turnover in the tent. Go with a 6" fan and a Can 33 if possible.

I have a 600 watt hydro farm, with a AC daystar enclosed hood, in the same size space. I do not even have a fan hooked up to the hood, just a standing fan blowing on it and on the plants, and temps are steady at 80-85 max at cannopy height. The plants love the light in the smaller space.

You're totally right about the goblin filter.

Gotta say though - a 6'' fan is too much for a can33 once you get some plants flowering.. Even 50-60% on a speed controller is a bit much in my experience..

I run my 6'' vortex at like maybe 40% speed on a can33 in order to ensure proper contact time.

I'd step up to a can66 or can50 if you want to remain safe.

For the record, the 420 cfm rating or whatever on the can33 that a lot of people go by is for re-circulating through the filter... It drops to like 240 or something like that if you use it as the exit point.

Also - to the thread starter - *do not* get a new Lumatek.. Major security risk due to the extreme RF interference they put off, even the 2009/10 models. For real, I've gotten visits from the cable company because of it. I'd recommend a Hydrofarm magnetic ballast, but in general I would avoid the Lumatek unless you live out in the country or something well away from neighbors.
