Natural Lolli Popping Idea - Could it work?

I was sitting here thinking of a way to remove the popcorn bud on the bottom of my girls without having to stress them by removing the lower leaves.

When you stop feeding a girl the leaves start to die from the bottom up and end up falling off naturally.

So could you simply grow it up to say 8-1 nodes high then stop feeding until the amount of leaves on the bottom that you want gone go yellow and dry up THEN water/feed as needed to stop the yellowing and dieing.

your thoughts?

would this stress a plant more than clipping the leaves off and making them heal those wounds.

You're swapping stresses. It's far less stressful in my experience to mechanically remove leaves compared to letting a nitrogen deficiency cause the plant to drop them.

Remember, it's the oldest growth that will fall first using your strategy. Unless you are not getting any branching from lower nodes, you'll still get growth down there, it'll just be weak & spindly and will be taking some of the energy that should be used for bud growth.

legitimizing pot hasn't created more users; it has just produced more annoying ones, who now apply Whole Foods--ian levels of snobbiness to the differences between Hawaiian Sativa and Humboldt Indica. -Time Magazine

You aint kidding

Deficiancys will effect the whole plant and you wil lprobably cause a delayed growth, that might take days or weeks to recover from .I dont think it would be worth it.I would imagine as well it could possibly herm on you.

having to stress them by removing the lower leaves.

I think you should reevaluate this sentiment. Alot of people here will argue removing leaves, in general, has no ill effects. I can't think of many situations where removing some lower leaves would cause any noticeable stress.

Prune the lower branches/leaves a week or so before you throw it into flowering. the pruning will spark an explosion of bud formation when it starts budding up, and the removal of the excess will allow the main buds to use all the energy they need. This applies to all plants, like roses, the best way to get an explosion of roses is to chop the shit out of the bush and wait two weeks, there are always a plethora of bud sites forming after a good chop.

remember, plants don't need our help to grow, and sometimes do better if left alone, but in nature, it is survival of the fittest, and if a deer chomps on a MJ bush, it's genetically encoded in the plants DNA to invigorate it's growth in order to survive.

Cannabis is an amazingly resillient plant, and the more i grow, the more i realise that growers are often so scared of hurting the plants, that they forget that out in nature, there are no osillating fans and air conditioning, but the best weed (in my opinion) is grown in the great oudoors, where the plants take a good beating their whole lives.

ok, enough rambling.. incase you missed it, i say, chop that bitch up.

Good luck, happy growing.
