First CFL micro PC grow.

Well, the time has finally come. After about half-a-year of research, planning, daydreaming, procrastinating, etc, I've finally decided to give it a go. Without boring everyone with babbling and minute details (it happens), I'll get right down to it.

I'm using a Antec 300 Case.

Dimensions of case: 18' (H) x 18.3' (D) x 8.1' (W).
Total wattage: Not to sure about total yet. maybe 5 26 watt CFLs or 4 26 watt CFL + 1 13 watt CFL.
Seed type: Random bag seed i got from my friend.
Fans:80mm in-take and 120mm exhaust.
Soil: All purpose potting mix by A.H. Hoffman
(contains the following:*canadian sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite, reed sedge peat, aged pine bark, limestone (pH ajustor), and a wetting agent.)


Well, that's about it...hope you've tolerated my incessant babbling, and I'm pretty damn excited to finally give this a shot. Thoughts, comments, observations, critiques are absolutely welcome. Thanks.

This would be my seedling in progress. There are 2 26 watt 6500k CFls in there so far.

Just wondering, are you closing the side panel or do you leave it open? Also have you checked your temps?
What lighting regimen is the plant on? 18/6 or 12/12

Yes i close it. So far my temps are 70 F and RH is 29.

Both of my fans are running on the 1st speed. I will turn it to 3rd speed once i add 3 more 26 watt cfls which will bring me to 130 watts total.

The light schedule will be 18/6. And 12/12 in flower.

Right on Para!!! I am soooooo happy your seed germed, your pc is up and running AND you have a thread!! Great job bro..
You will probably have to put your fans on three with all the lights in but isn't it great to have speed control right on them!!
I went through nightmares with speed controlers so I'm building one myself...

And oops, that was a typo.

Those CFLs are 26 watt at 6500k.
I will throw the 2600 when I will start flowering.

Scrub, what is the benefit of longer veg time?
I know I can't have a long veg period due to limited space, but if I was to.. Would there be a benefit in the flowering stage?

I'm talking about keeping the plant in veg for 1-2 weeks longer than usual

Hey bro if you're limited for space there's not much point in vegging it longer imo. The space would be the limiting factor. It helps if you're taking clones, as you'll have a sexually mature plant of a small size compared to a regular grown seedling.

I'm not sure you're aware but there are techniques for influencing the sex of your seed. It's a little bit hippy airy-fairyish, but I can agree with the reasoning behind a lot of it. That's just the first thread I found btw. If you look up LadyLargely's posts she discussed it a lot in the past. Normally you wouldn't want to influence the sex - if there was a hermie or male you'd want it to show so you can rip it out, but I figure since the seed count is low, maybe it could help. Peace.

anonamix-thanks man! I really didn't put much effort into it, but it should last me a while. Also, there are people who sell these... but they charge astronomical prices.

I spent like 100 bucks on this one and if i were to buy one, it would cost like 250.
