Say is it common to see People sell Hashish openly on the streets, all over Pakistan, or just in the tribal areas??

There used to be all over the country indeed, but all shops that were not in FATA were forcefully closed by Zia ul Haq during the 80s, at the request of the US who needed to expand the much more profitable heroin scene.

But, about this pictured you've quoted, I am wondering wether it might rather be a neswar seller (tobacco preparation). Color is more that of neswar than hash, which is usually not pressed into that kind of small slab. I can also see a few tolas of gardah, so maybe I'm wrong. But it look a lot like neswar...

I took this pic in the early 1990's in Darra,I was at the back of the family gun-factory with the boys father testing some kit and the kid was varnishing and rubbing down the stocks for the 7mm rifle actions his father had made, happy memories of a great place,I sometimes wonder if the boys own son is now doing the same:dunno:

Great story...
I would love to go to alaqa ghair.
I used to have trouble with the police my self in Pakistan. But now I know people who are in the government and with one phone call the police get off our ass.
I am currently in Pakistan at the moment. I am plannin a trip upnorth in the fall of 2011 as there is a lot of tension in the country and I need to finish my education.
This is the hash im smoking these days...

Mirko you are very correct about spliffing hash.
It is truly and art of heating and mixing the hash in Pakistan. If one does not do it right you will get a chunky mix and your spliff wont burn correct.
It took me many years to learn the correct way of heating it and mixing it on my hand rather than on piece of paper or a base etc.

Beautifull gardah, looks like Shebarghan wallah.

mixing it on my hand

eeek, never again with full melt charas. Once I have burned myself with a piece of boiling charas falling on my palm skin instead of on the tobacco. My my my, when it come to getting burnt, I know of nothing more painfull. It is excruciating and I would have gone mad, had my chacha not given to me this miracle balm who made the horror to fade in a few minutes. Now with full melt I use a leather mixing pouch, works great.

Totally correct Mriko...
Are u pakistani by any chance....?
The hash has burnt my palm several times... I have a perpetual round spot in the middle of my left palm, and I occasionally get a blister on my left thumb because of PAKAOING the stuff....
All i know about my hash is that it comes from peshawar to karachi.
I never buy hash in my own city as it is always contaminated with something or the other.
I am still working on gettin a true source from the northern areas. Wish I had a pathan friend!

Different grades & kinds are available in Pakistan. Pakistan exports lots of medium quality hash (border) and most of the good stay there.
Most famous materials are from Tirah and Yarkhun valleys. Tirah produces some strong sativa hash, gets you racey and easily paranoid if you omit to press the gardah. Yarkhun is made from indica strains, but not much couchlock ones, rather spacey and meditative ones, mood uplifting & sometimes pschedelic.

Here some gardah from Yarkhun valley,

From Laspur valley, and stripe of pressed tirah charas (medium quality but at about 4gr for 50cents (of euro), you don't complain !
The Laspur was given to me at mid-august and was from same season, means some cultivated plants are done by July.

Few kgs of Darra gardah

How safe would northern pakistan(where all the good hashish is) be for a canadian of indian punjabi descent? I can pass for pakistani as people in that region look pretty similiar. Next time I'm there in punjab I'm thinking about crossing into Lahore from Amritsar, hopefully bus service is still active. I can speak Punjabi pretty good but can't speak Urdu, would I be safe? Any advice?
