SELFHEMPLOYED I DID READ THE POST AND ABOUT 6 OTHER threads. I'm asking people what works because there is mixed feelings on some of these products and some you shouldnt use in flower. Sorry for asking for help around theese parts

Noobie, I have heard from some local places in Nor Cal (where these bugs are persistent in the grape vineyards) that doing a root drench with the stronger Hydrogen Peroxide (30 percent not 3) will kill them and not harm your plants in flower (although I didn't get instructions on if they dilute it or not). I am currently trying the Azamax/Azatrol at medium/higher dosage as a root drench, not sure if it is working yet or not.

I purchased and used the Bayer Fruit, Vegetable and Citrus version and am using it on my veg plants at 6ml per gallon. I treated the plants yesterday and they are already looking happier but it is too early to report if it's working or not.

Thanks smokesalot420. So these things are tiny pin head sized white bugs that come out when you water right? I just noticed em last night when i watered my monster bush and they emerged from the soil and went back in a little after.

I have had that product in the mix for 3 months and hit hasn't killed anything. Not the gnats or the aphids. The BT and imid did.

I have enough experience to say, after trying all the step above, that you are not likely to win this fight. The cure is almost as bad as the sickness.

Many others in the main root aphid forum have been thoroughly beaten. So only the most drastic measures are advisable. Change of medium, cut down and clone, move grow location. Cut your loses.

For all of those using Fox Farms Don't Bug Me and saying pyrethrins don't work then you haven't really tried pyrethrins! You need a concentrated liquid pyrethrin solution like Bug Buster O, Pyganic, Pyeth-It, or something else along those lines. Pyganic is the only OMRI organic one and it won't really hurt your plants at all I've heard. I've given my plants two Bug Buster O drenches (at 60-75% dosage) and they showed no adverse affects. Haven't seen any sign of aphids since! Next comes nematodes of long-term control...

Azamax/azatrol is not intended as an instant contact killer.

No wonder it didn't work one day after a single use.

When using potentially dangerous chemical or even natural insecticides it is important to actually read the labels.

THE SOLUTION....

THE SOLUTION....

Ok boys and girls I just spent a minute reading through this whole thread and no one has mentioned A single thing about Botanigard!!!

The solution to Root Aphids IS Pyrethrean combined with Botanigard. This is not only the tested and prooved method for master gardners like Ed Rosenthal. But the Root Aphid masta killa from my grow shop... has exhausted all options before arriving at the combo of Pyrethrean and Botanigard ES.

Pyrethrean will kill like 95% and Botanigard will knock down the rest. This is the way to make moves on these root sucking bastards, the only truly effective way to rid your crop. After that toss some root accelerator/stimulant into it and shit will be just fine. It may not be cheap to get rid of root aphids and make sure your crop comes out solid, but if you want to save it then you gotta sacrafice a little cheddar.

Bayer Tree and Shrub

Bayer Tree and Shrub

I can testify that Bayer T & S worked wonders. Azatrol not at all and the damage done to roots by coating them in oil is not worth even trying.
I also ordered Gnatrol which is a bacterial insecticide that eat the larvae. This has no chemical residues.
I will use it next time to make sure they don't return.
Those little effers multiply like crazy since most are female and they are born pregnant. Don't mess around and get B T & S as soon as you can.

I am using Pyganic EC and Azatrol. Norkali used this combo with great effect. I treated for the first time a couple days ago and have not seen any. I will treat every 5-7 days probably 3 more times. I think you need the knockdown and kill power of the Pyganic and the systemic and repellent effect of the Azatrol. It also needs to be repeated in order to break the insects life cycle. If you expect to do it once and be done, forget it. I also am using Tanglefoot insect barrier to make sure they cannot travel from plant to plant.

After this first application the plants look much healthier, all reaching up to the sky. No stress what so ever.

:)

It's looking like the Pyganic is an essential 'partner' to Azatrol...

bayer tree and shrub. its the only that will kill em. its nearly impossible to kill every last one because they live and breed in the rootball itself. so multiple applications are a must.

agreed,....everything else just cuts the numbers down somewhat, they still come back in a few days in ever higher numbers.

I used BAYER COMPLETE, which has a contact killer in it as well as the imdacloprid.

I had to apply it 4 times, over a 2 week period to get rid of every single aphid and gnat I had.

I used the Bayer Tree and Shrub to succesfully kill off root aphids. It also ended up taking care of the fungus gnats over time.

I followed up a week later with an Azamax soil drench each time.

This seemed to work very well.

I had root aphids SO BAD, a million trillion "tanks beetle" crawlers coming out of the holes in the pots. I thought I'd spilled a bunch of coco, but it was billions of the bugs. 2 applications of Imid and Azamax did the trick. Plants all finished brilliantly.
