silly question

So my water really sucks, its 515 PPM and sits at 7.5 PH. I just got a stealth RO system 100 GPD and wanted to know if i can use my tap to soak the rockwool and then start usuing the RO water? I'm sure everybody will say use the RO but i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Want to drop the babies in by this weekend and i'm running out of time.

Tap water should be fine as long as you acidify it. You could mix up some full strength(or a little hotter) nutes and soak in that or use some ph down.

At my other house it was 220 ppm and i would use 5.5 ph to soak. So i figured if i soak with 515 might cause some probs

So i went to my grocery store picked up 30 gals of ro water from the machine they have out front. Now i have ph meter problem, I have an old hanna hand held and it just doesn't seem stable. It was just calibrated when i got my new tds meter.

I got the oakton ultra basic to check my ppm. My question now is what's a good ph meter? Should i get another oakton meter for ph? Was really hoping to have this soaked and ready to go by this weekend. Fuk my old hanna the green one which can just sit in my rez did both ph and ppm but that thing seemed to always give me problems.

So i definetly want to stay away from hanna, anybody let me know i always get my shit from Berkeley indoor garden or Berkeley secret garden. Hoprfully i will hear something back pretty quick need to get something by tomorrow...

Peace

I know sounds funny but i'm gone all day and have to use the Ro with the water from my backyard into a 5 gal bucket. I didn't have time to filter my water so i just used the jugs for a quick fix. No water source in my garage. So this was just a 1 time deal then i will filter the water on the weekend when i'm home and monitor water.

Anyways still want some opinions on a good Ph meter need to get it by the end of the day

The cheapest Oakton ph meter you can find will do, they last about 3 years, cost 60 bucks or so.

Yeah, I guess the 100 is pretty slow. I have the 200 and it does a gallon
in 7 mins so I guess 14x30= 7 hrs to get your 30 gal. Like 66 min for a 5 gal bucket.
I bought the Float control for mine, so I can let it fill a res and it stops on
it's own.

I got my PH meter on Ebay. It goes to .01 which is nice, but it's hard to calibrate.
Good Luck!

Where do you run your waste? Did switch to a longer hose? I ended up getting the oakton 30ph meter

I got a longer hose for the filtered side and leave the whole thing
outside. I drilled a 1/4 hole for the RO line, and run the thing off a garden hose.
