hey everybody, christoph here!

this is my first grow, and i have been tweeking and building my grow box for a few weeks now, always adding little things, slowly getting ready for my seedlings, im basically ready, just need to get some new bulbs for my fixtures, the ones in the pic are just temporary.

ill let the pictures speak for themselves, here you go!

alright guys, a little picture update, might aswell keep this thread nicely pictured, there is gunna be a massive documentation on this mini box grow!!!

this is my main bulb atm, out of the spare bulbs, this is the one i bought. Im thinking of getting some better bulbs, but whats your opinion?

so new picture, this is from the outside. with my cups setup how i think ill have them, ive got a new 150 watt MH bulb in there, but it got so hot, i couldent even take it out, its cooling off now.

i realize if i use this new MH bulb, ill definitly need better ventilation, ill look into some CFL that i can hang in the same spot, and maybe make a small reflector.

im also planning on getting some side CFL strip lighting, ive gotten a basic idea, and its lookin great.

You would need a strong, high cfm fan with a Metal Halide for sure

thanks BC, u finnally stopped by yeah, i dont think i have sufficient ventillation for metal halide in there right now, and im getting tied up, cause the other ppl in my house are tellin me to get rid of my box! some kinda fire hazard issue XD

thamagnificent, i have some metal halides, i have 2 of them, they are both 150 watt, but i dont know if im hooking them up right, and i definitly dont have enough vent for them...

anyways, due to some issues i wont start my grow untill after spring break, and hopefully ill have all my bulbs ready to go, i think ive got to reline my light fixtures so that all 40 watters will fit in there...

for some reason i cant find any bulbs higher than 40 watt... oh well, hopefully they will suffice.

any comments or advice would be appriciated!

well guys, ive been pussyfooting around on this grow, and have decided to avoid suspicion, i wont be starting growing some nice marijuana till after i get spring break vaca, im going on a cruise, so, who would take care of my babies??? that just wouldent work out, so im going to do a bunch of soil tests, and water soil that has no plants in it, and get everything to a fool proof method and start my grows in a couple of weeks.

also i might just start growing some tomatoes and see how that goes with my setup, ill be stopping at my canadian tire and picking up a bunch of 26 watt CFL's and put 6 of those, and a 40 watt cfl on the hanger!

Hey man, nice to see you got your set up finished and running (soon).

Try an orange test... that's what i did while i was building my pc case..
I'll update my album maybe tomorrow or hopefully by Friday.

Have like no time to surf the interwebs.

My job is like a blood sucking vampire, i can't get any "me or 1 on 1 with my plant time" because of this ridiculous job.

Well I will start a thread for my grow soon, but i can't promise frequent updates and all.

thanks for the post bud, please do explaine ur orange test! i'll totaly do it, im just running like a spare soil test lol XD, i might try to germ two bad seeds i have, they are green, but if they root, ill plant them in some shitt soil XD

Lol, go to my page and look at my album on the right side of the screen for the orange test that i ran, and still running because i don't want to destroy the little fellas.

Very nice to know you moved the fan inside the box.

But from what it looks like, you need little to light proof your exhaust area.

Even though you might not use it, i'll just throw it out there...

Since you moved the fan inside the box, you save yourself some time by not having to build a frame for the air vent cover to fit over the fan.
You can just screw or nail one of these over the hole to light proof your box.
Costs like 2 bucks at a hardware store.
Looks something like this-

For odor control, just make a simple carbon scrubber.
There is a really nice guide by suga bear II some where around here..

wow thanks for all that info paranoid! this is gunna help alot.

ive been down at my local hardware store and have been looking at these vents just didnt know if they would cut it and didnt want to build the dicting, ill definitly try to find one that will fit my box juuust right, im also thinking of double widing my exhaust and putting two fans and getting a small duct that would hook from the double vent to single, and hook too that carbon scrubber!

i have no idea how to get some activated carbon... but ill figure it out.

im gunna look at the ur orange thing right now!!

just a small update. I've started germing some seeds, but ill be gone for 5 days, i guess ill just get someone to water the seeds once a day, any ideas on a self watering system i could use?

hey christoph!! Best to wait on the seeds till after you get back..they are very picky when germing and if you even miss 1 time of damping/lightly(very lightly) watering, they will die...those seeds won't take even 3 days if you are germing now so you better be careful my friend...hate to see them die..if you need any help, please feel free to ask..
Where are you going on your cruise? you are in Van right? I love that huge dock for the cruise ships...can't remember the name?! have fun noetheless..

well hello everyone, its been a week, and i came home to quite a lovely surprise ill be poasting pics soon hopefully, its in a super micro grow room, and i am quite surprised at what i have procreated for myself!

first pic, my brand new baby! (this is just an experiment grow, and im keeping a VERY well kept journal. im going to even start measuring how much water i put into her/his cup XD

second pic, my super mini micro miniscule cab. well, box really, it used to be on old speaker that ive hollowed out, i might even get my old sub and hollow that sucker out, i blew that whole set so, i got a new system, but they seem promising for cabinets, with electricity already wire

they germinated for 7 days, and were watered 3 times durring that time, what days, i cannot say, my friend did the watering while i was away :/, but ALAS it turned out well friends

there is a well developed root system and it dug its way straight thru the paper towel and into the soil below it, that was 8 layes thick!!

i was quite amazed, anyways, the temerpature in my mini box was at a constant 25-30 degree celseus, and the humidity was around 80% i beleive, i know this is VERY high, and not good, im working on trying to get it down, this is a very small space mind you, cannot use any conventional fans, any ideas, give a shout!!

any help appreciated, cant wait to here from my friends, and some new tag alongs!

i just wanted to add in here for a question... what do i do about her curly stem? i just transplanted her and thats where i burried her too, should i burry her deeper?? i think i will tonight... looking forward to some poasts
