Aw, what a beautiful place and what a gorgeous cabin. This is something! It's making me a little homesick. I moved from some lovely countryside in Ireland to a huge city in Chile last year. I don't mind city life but I'm a country boy at heart and this sort of stuff really floats my boat. You're so lucky Lola and hey, it's looking great

I will be sure to post some! I have a pic of the loft, but it won't load upright, only sideways.

Open the pic in windows picture viewer Lola and then down at the bottom of the screen (the row of buttons) you'll see two buttons with a sort of circular arrow on them - one going clockwise and the other going anti-clockwise. You can use these to rotate your pic to the proper angle and then upload it ;)

Al: Thanks! i wish rotating the pic and saving it would work, it does in the viewer, but when I load to Icmag, they still turn out sideways. thanks for the tip. though!

GD: I would say 10 joints to Cheech it out.... yes let's try 10 first! lol.

WR: Thanks, come over and smoke a bowl wit me! ;)

StppinRzr: Nope, no MJ in the cabin. But a greenhouse out back would be nice. I could pump water out of the pond... hmm... It's in the plans for later on. I got nothing but time and power tools... (More Power!) I am a victim of the Tim the Toolman Taylor sickness, I must have power tools, must have Bigger power Tools.

Right now I am looking for a planer and I need to figure out how to run boards through the planer from an old barn. Then I want to put tongue and grooves on the boards so I can make flooring of the old 150 year old oak.

but I don't know how? Is there a machine I can rent reasonably to do the tongue and groove for flooring? I guess I could rent a table router? advice needed! thanks.

anybody with woodworking tools they don't need, i.e. table saw, planer, let me know.

I hate that guy from New Yankee Workshop. He can make anything, he has every tool known to man. He's even got a biscuit joiner. I want one so bad.... :biglaugh:

.. If only I could find a cigar store Indian to put on the porch. I need a buffalo head or something too... lol.

Can I be your cigar store indian? Seriously, I'm 1/4 Creek... Naw, kidding... Absolutely LUV the cabin. I got to live w/o electricity & rain-water only... or have it trucked in from ??? at great expense. An adventure, but memorable... Enjoy these times to the fullest!

For real, girl, you got the thing going on. Trust me, after living in outback Australia for over 3 years, you will become comfortable with a (properly constructed) outhouse... If you need help, just holler... Got know-how; just need someone to do the digging...

This is just a get a way cabin. I don't want to live there full time.

I just thought it was cool as hell and figured it would look way better put together than it did lying in a pile for 60 years!

I loves my internet way too much to be without electricity and stuff for too long. It is just a fun little hobby to stick it out back on the farm. I will probably just put up outhouse for emergency use only! heehee.

I bet Australia was so fun.

Nope! This is the recycle cabin :)

Labor cost: $0
Lumber: cut on the farm, cost $0, borrowed portable lumber mill.
Stones: $0, stole from old abandoned chimney circa 1800.
Doors & Windows: Recycled freebies from friends, dumps, etc.
Electrical: Donated by friend with spare circuit box, etc., labor free.
Roof: Recycled freebie tin.

Things I hadda buy so faR: Nails (although not many stole some..), mortar, fire bricks, flue liners, chinking. Spent about 1200 so far.

maybe not that much, I don't wanna add it up.

Nice! Beautiful cabin, Lola. That's the dream, right there. Of course I want to build a cordwood house with a cordwood smoking lodge, but that cabin is awesome! :jump: Thank you for showing us this! :thank you:
