BuBBle Making Questions

Im a week away from harvest and have just recieved my hash bags. i have purchased a generic 5 bag 5 gal kit with 230m/150/110/45/20. ive watched videos and have the basic knowledge to do this sucessfully. but as a novice i do have some question i kno you fellow icmaggers can answer.

1. i heard it was best to make the hash when your plant matter is fresh. i guess because the oil is heavier...but does this mean once ive finished making my bubble hash i have to wait a week for a "cure"? will it be less potent if i use it a day oe two after?

2. i have two different kinds of herb i will be using. one is power kush the other is blue hash. is it in my best interest to do these seperately? i was thinking if i do them together i might get the best of both strains...right?

3. i dont know yet how much trim/nugget i will be using to make hash with but i would guess it would be about 2-3(+)oz dry. should this be split up into two differnent runs or all together making the most hash in the first run and do a second of small amount?

4. after making this hash can the plant material/bud be made into bud-budder?

thanks to all who contributes! i may still have a few more questions but the tester buds are kicking my ass.

cheers all!!

Great questions! I was just thinking about this myself as I started a Hashberry grow and am looking to make some myself! Thanks for the thread, and I look forward to all the responses!

Just got a bag kit myself. Im in it for small amounts though. I'm looking at an oz trim MAX so i got the 1gals.

These are all questions that i'd like to know, too!

ok heres my take
fresh trim frozen well makes a much more pure hash.. less plany material or dust get in it..

you can do them seperate or at the same time depends.. sometime i save all my leafs from buds i trim as i smoke them and make a mixer batch.. but if i am doing a run with a few diff strains i like to keep em spererated... anthing frosted will work a oz or 2 of trim is fine..you dont have to wait..to smoke but it is most taste when cured like bud but overnight is fine... yes it can be make into budder real easy and its alot better tasting then eating all that green.. but its potent just cook it in the fat of choice on low for a bit ...

Go to bubbleman's site...there's lengthy explanations of the bubblebag process, with photos. Also, there are (or used to be) some good vids on You Tube.

I checked out the site good info. Just wondering why you would risk messing up the bags mixing in the. I found doing your mixing in a clean 5 gallon bucket then pouring it into the bags works better. just give a quick mix up stir in the bags and let settle for 20 minutes start pulling bags.

Ill hook you up and thouroughly answer your questions...

1. If you use fresh plant material you will get less yeild but the end product will be somewhat more melty/oily although it wont affect potency...If you use dry material you get more yeild because the gland heads are fragile and break off easier(also easier on your arm for hand stirring with a spoon), also the trich glands on the buds if dry have already started to cure..if you know how to cure hash properly it can up the potency a bit or actually change the type thc-a to thc or cbd or cbn(still not too familiar with that one) but yeah it will give you a more stoney high if you cure it properly.

personally I would suggest drying the herb then hand stirring the mixture, that is how I get the best yeild with the best quality

2. When doing different strains keep them seperate, reaosn for that is different strains have different size gland heads which will be collected in different bags, its all preference but I dont like mixing my strains unless im really lazy or if I dont have enough of each strain to run, it all depends.

3. It depends on what bags you have, for the 5 gallon ones I do about 4-8 oz at a time but 8 oz being the most/max capacity....make sure if you do use alot of product do 3 maybe even 4 washes to get all the glands out.

4. You could make some bud butter out of it but unless you have a very low tolerance that butter is not going to do anything to you, you just extracted most of the goodness out of the buds/trim so if there is anything good left over its very minimal and probably not worth your butter or time.

hope that helped :D Ill be glad to answer any other questions you might have

1. freeze every trimmed leaf. once froozen your good to go...
2. mix as you will not see a big diference....
3. thats a good amount mix it all at once and run it throw the bags 4-5 times
4. after running the mix its finished toss it.

It works both ways. I have had the best luck curing my leaf first.

BHO is so full of all the cannabinoids that I haven’t found any real advantage to keeping the strains separate other than to marvel at the individual turpenoids and flavoids nuances. I do both and panel testing shows that it work well either way.

I run batches up to 72 grams each with good success, but would personally run your nugs in multiple small batches for greater control.

I’ve done alcohol extraction of bubble dregs and gotten some return, but not enough to be worth the effort if the bubble operation was done well.

with the most recent material left over from my bubble runs, I throw it into a stockpot after the 2nd agitation, and make cannabutter from it

the cannabutter has plenty of kick left to it.. but perhaps thats because i only do 2 agitations.

Good point! Depends on what you have already done to it.

I usually run three and sometimes 4 runs and extract oil from the latter runs.

You can put several batches through the 220 bag to remove most of the plant material, then combine all that and go on with the lower micron sizes, just to speed up processing a bit...
