cloning in soil, is this method easier?

so all these cloning kits I see at the hydro store, are they really that much easier/have higher success rates? just wondering if anyone has used these and thinks that they are better compared to just buying the items and doing it yourself

IMHO at least, I think buying the items yourself and DIY is the way to go. Lots of good info on cloning available right here on ICmag and the internet in general, and buying anything in a kit, while often quicker/easier, rarely saves you money. Good luck! :D

I've cloned w damn near every method and I have the most success w a bubbler. Literally 100% success rate. Really easy to make too. Basically all you need is an airstone, pump, tubing, net pots and a small container w a lid. Less than $25 bucks. $25 bucks + cloning success = PRICELESS! Jmo. Be safe and keep it sticky

i got a diy coffee creamer container cloner... super cheap 2 point cloner. i can clone 2 plants in the space of 1. it's not ideal, but it works very well.

here's where it gets super confusing for a new grower, everyone uses a different cloning method, and some of these methods are RIDICULOUSLY COMPLICATED, and it certainly doesn't have to be.

I am going to do a "how to clone in straight coco" thread with step by step pics

cloning in straight coco is THE SIMPLEST, EASIEST method, and it works, nearly 100% of the time, but you just cannot get easier, or more basic than rooting cuttings in rinsed coco coir fiber.

I'm taking pics today, and I'll post this in the new growers section in a day or so, once I get it all edited.

A ez cloner is about as easy as it can get if a person has the money to get one just make your cut and put them in there no having to mist the dome and you can see how their coming along

My attempts with a diy aerocloner failed every time, not one clone. I also tried it with ewc tea and still got slime out the wazoo, big globs of slime on every stem.
Same luck with peat pucks, out of 100 cuttings, 2 rooted.
Just threw away some cuttings that were in coco/ewc, not one rooted after 3 weeks.

100 Perlite has worked fairly well for me, but it takes a while, up to 3+ weeks.

Next I'm going to try a fogger in my aero cloner and ditch the pump and sprayers.

Everybody is different in regards to what works for them, most things haven't worked well for me.

I'm a soiless cloner, use the biggest beer cups I can find. The last batch was 18 oz cups. Saves me a transplant or 2 I think. If you go as far as 2 waterings a day (roughly 12 hours apart) I get about 25 inches tall. And most go into more pro mix but I like the idea of cloning in the same medium used for veg + flower for some reason.

JJScorpios sticky thread is the way that ended up working the best for me, Ive tried lots of different ways and really struggled with it for years before I got on the weed forums. I used to just put branches in a cup of water and I would rig up something to hold the stem in the same place. It would take a month sometimes, but it almost always worked. But JJs thread was the one that finally got me getting roots in a week to 10 days. I tried right in soil, perlite, homemade bubblers, etc. The ole Rapid Rooters, Schultz Cloning powder(cheap at Home Depot) and a jiffy mini greenhouse(much smaller than the RR brand one JJ uses) was the trick. Ive also had luck with peat pucks recently when I was out of RRs. So you can buy all the shit you need to clone in his thread at Home Depot or Lowes if you use Peat pucks instead of RRs.
