looks like I will be buying a trim reaper then.. sounds like with a few adjustments and a good clean up, they are the best trimmers in the mid sized garden category..

too bad cuz i do like the spinpros but they are just too small

P.K: Buds will knock ur socks off. Depending on the quality of bud...trimming is 90% pure illusion. Trimming by hand is my way... I like up close and personnal. I would like to try SpinPro...Always game for new things.

Hand trimming is very nice for small gardens. For big ones it costs you lots of time, money (and/or product) and security breaches by unscrupulous trimmers. A trimming machine is a one-time purchase and pays for itself in a couple crops, and will work for hours without smoking a single gram.

true that lazy LOL.

so going back is the trim reaper the trimmer you would buy again, or with the sprinpro automatic, the procut or whatever, and the various other machines out there, do you feel you made the right decision?

& the rack

I was surprised to see the trim reapers "blades" are not blades at all.....just flat pieces of 1/8 steel.

but overall i think its pretty well made...and the smell isnt really that bad...I think after a couple oz ran through it you want be able to smell it anymore......the grate was a little bent from shipping somehow, but i beat it straight fairly easily.

Eb*y has the rack for around $23-25 shipped, order 4 at a time....super fast seller

Humbolt Hyd*****ics has the trim reaper for under $1400 shipped.

Both were the best deal I could find....I do not work for either company.

Ill give an update after I use both.

Kool thread gang...
I was wondering howcome the trimbox/trimpro is mentioned very little in this thread...from what i have seen and read, these guys seem to build some pretty good machines as well....also i was wondering what the lifespan might be on these bad boys. Im considering the trimbox for a 8-10 elbow grow im finishing....and then bringing it home after that to take care of my personal 2p crop...would the trimbox be adequate for the larger crop?

probably because you have to spin the buds yourself.....they do make an automatic but it seems to spins the buds so fast by vacuum it looks like it does alot of damage.

trim reaper was the best I could find for the size you are looking for, & I did a shit load of research.

Hey and thanks Ms Weekend. Yea i know its not automated, but i like the fact that i have to use my hands to have some degree of control of the trimming. So i think ill go with the trimbox since the large crop is a once only deal, and i believe the trimbox looks ideal for personal use.
Another thing about all of these trimmachines....how does the trim look afterwards? Is it mauled beyond recognition, and impossible to bubble/sieve?

Here goes a few pictures of buds ran through the Reaper.

Almost everything had to be touched up by hand. doesnt do much damage to the buds, but one thing that looks like shit is the frayed stems.......I cut the stems back as far as possible, but during the trimming it would knock off the bottom nugs on a bud then trim the stem and make it frayed......definably took some of the stress out of trimming the popcorn, but it was a big change from how I normally trim and dry(trimming whole plants, & hanging by the stems)

Let me know if you have any questions.

I can offer a couple tips here if it helps: You're right it knocks apart bigger buds, leaving a frayed stem. You gotta have your trimmers pull those popcorn nugs off the bottom part of the stem and clip the stem. You'll get a bit more popcorn but odds are the little nug woulda broken off at some point, leaving stemmy weed anyway. I usually set aside the really big colas to hand trim, it's a shame to knock em apart for the machine, and it doesn't do a great job on big nugs anyway. I still see some leafy bits, usually when I saw that I wasn't running it long enough, another minute oughtta do and will cut the touchups by a lot.

The way I handle popcorn is I bought some 3/8" wire mesh from Lowe's, bend it into the shape of a wide flat bowl, and dump dried/trimmed weed onto it a half P at a time over a table or tub.

Anythign that falls through is gonna be popcorn and trim, leaving you a nice basket of fat nugs on top to save. A pair of big rubbermaid tubs is handy for the sorting ;)

Hope that helps!

Yep that is a bit too short I found, I do about 3 minutes most of the time and rarely have to hand touchup nugs.

how sad! almost all of it had to be touched up? most of it looks pretty good..

I would assume a lot of it is strain dependent too.. I run mostly gdp and those nugs are small and tight!

Lazy if you could go back would you buy the reaper again? or would you buy a different trimmer?

:dunno:.......did alot of searching & reading, but figured Id start a thread also.

Im tired of trimming by hand, & need something that one person can operate. Looking to do 10-20lbs(dry weight, but I trim wet) in one sitting....I can normally do 6-8lbs(dry weight)or 30-60 3-4ft tall plants in 18-20hrs by myself.... hang the whole plants on the stem to dry, then 8-10hrs for destemming, final trim & bagging.

Whats my best bet without spending 10k+? trim reaper? whats the size on these trimmers? cant seem to find a dimension on any websites for the trim reaper or and of the salad bowl looking ones.....anything else worth looking at?.......also please let me know if they are hand crank, or just plug in and wait

how about drying racks?....I know trim scene has them for about 50 a pop, but does anyone use any others?

Thanks

UPDATE

What I bought on page 6, post #87

Fuck your fast, takes me and my bro at least 4 days to do 3Lb by hand

Anyone know if any of these contraptions are available in australia? ebay wants $200 delivery, the bastards

Yeah works fantastic on small nugs, yes I would only buy a Trim Reaper, nothing else is as good or as efficient in my eyes.
