What do you look for in a dispensary?

T

theJointedOne

SO I would love to get the opinion of IC members on what they feel are the qualities they look for in a dispensary. What makes you feel comfortable? how about pricing? what do you feel is a a fair donation price? Do you feel pre packaging is bad if your offered a few bags to choose from?

any and all suggestions and ideas on what makes a good/great dispensary should be posted here!
:tiphat::tiphat::thank you:

1. free disbursement program that actually happens, not just a sign on the wall saying it happens.
2. $60 1/8ths!!!!! You are fucking kidding me. Greedheads.
3. Onsite consumption. Otherwise I gotta hotbox my car or wait till I get home.
4. Samples that can be handled / smelled. Hate clubs that just show you something in a jar they won't open. BS. If people smash up your buds either ban them or chalk it up to the costs of doing business. Or both.
5. Free snacks/water and a convenient bathroom.
6. Utensils for onsite consumption.
7. Babies. I likee clonez!
8. Spectrum of canna-products: edibles, rubs, lozenges, spray/tincture, etc....
Probably more, but that's all I can think of right now.

This is what I look for when I check out a new club.

Primary:

- Good selection of indica and sativa, nicely cured and smelly.
- Staff that KNOWS something about weed... in particular, the strains they are selling (very rare)
- Edibles that work
- Do they carry clones or seeds?
- Prices. Do you get discounts the more you buy? Are oz.'s under 300? Are 8ths 55 or under? (65 and up is ridiculous)

Secondary:

- Reward cards and/or freebies
- Social atmosphere
- Website with pictures and listings of what is in stock
- Give back to the community
- Monthly art on the wall like at a coffee shop (something to do while in line)
- Stock medicine from ICMag peeps

Personally, I hate it when they pre-bag, but I see how it is more efficient.

hey humble!

so yeah i agree with you on most of these. if you couldn't handle the meds what do you think is the second best way to do it? :thank you:

Besides a warm, inviting atmosphere I look for a well-educated bud tender. I often find that dispensaries might have a nice atmosphere with plenty of product but the bundtender can barely tell me the difference between an Indica and a Sativa, let alone possess the knowledge that these two varieties, when crossed, can produce a hybrid.

2nd best = samples in jars that either smell or employees willing to give the nugs a little squeeze. Oddly some buds don't need a squeeze and some do to get the flavor/smell profile.
What I've noticed is that temps can also effect smell-ability and cold buds rarely smell unless they're super fresh. What if, instead of having the bud-tender squeeze each bud they just set the jar onto a heating element for a minute. No more than 90-100 F, we're not trying to vaporize the bud just activate the terpenes and flavonoids. FYI I just brainstormed this concept and now own it under international patent law. You're ALL witnesses!

Ok so yeah i dont think that will work humble1 but a good idea i guess? Um so yeah a warm inviting atmosphere. I think plants (non cannabis) are cool to have around the area as well as a little water fountain sculpture thing. Flowers or orchids are also coming to mind. Im helping a place get on their feet and they need ideas so i thought id brainstorm with you guys and gals. Yes also to a good budtender, i think thats the number two thing behind good product. If all goes well you might see me at this place. if we get it going ill definately put up a review section in the dispensary review area.

more input please!

I'm available :)

Wouldn't take much for me to relocate either. Hyper-Sensitive to indicas, mold, dust, PGRs and strange contams... excellent for product knowledge and QC.

I'm the kind of guy a bar owner would LOVE to have behind the bar.... but I don't know diddly about alcohol. :D

Sounds like a great setup though... almost makes me wish I was back buying from dispensaries again. :D

Stay Safe! :tree:

I'd be happy if you could simply find a single cut of "honesty"... I'd clone her out in mass trays & give them away to the other shops!!!

I disagree with ppl being able to stick their nose in a jar or bud and be able to dispense their germs on the bud!!
They should have small "Sniff Samples" that are not sold--
Also, On Site Consumption is not within Ca State Smoking Laws...prolly won't happen--
I agree with discounts for quantity...and that Serious/Terminal/SSI/Veterans...should receive discounts--
Other than that...if you don't like the D's...Grow your own--:tiphat:

well the only place I spend my money has the following and attracts many due too

knowledge, strains, clones, mothers, Hash oil, TI pad's, Oil Domes ( free hit first visit), Nothing over 20/g, dogs, hash bar, artwork, modern furniture, wall sized menu, pickup window(for your meds, get the script at the bar),jars(better not be in a bag at this point), and the better be down for trades!

as someone else mentioned, smaller jars with samples that you can touch squeeze or break, with pre-jarred amounts behind the pick up window.

I think dispensaries should let me squeeze everything I want, a free hit of hash when I walk in the door, comb my hair, wipe my ass, and sell me 17g 1/8ths

One way to let the patient view the meds without touching them is to have a display case with a big nug of each strain in a petri dish. Although the patient cant smell it, they can look at it up close without actually touching it. If they ask to smell it, let them smell inside the jar. this way there will be no buds manhandled.

other things i look for at a dispense: Price($60 is the highest 8th I have bought from a dispensary, and I refuse to pay any higher), another thing that bothers me is the places that sell certain strains for a lot just because of the name. I cant even tell you how many times ive been to a place where they want $20 a gram for some "sour d" that isn't even sour D. The prices should be decided by the quality, not by the name. Lastly, decently priced hash is important. I believe that hash is the most medicinally beneficial way to ease pain. I have only seen decently priced hash in one place in fort collins. Northern Colorado Natural Wellness has $20 for good bubble(they just raised their prices, it used to be $50 an 8th). The hash prices alone, have me frequently visiting this place. $30 a gram for hash(that most likely came from trim) is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!
