Composting nutrients with Effective microbes

Hi,
I am about to start my nutrient compost, but this time
I'd like to add EM-plus by SCD, the activate first stuff.

I normally combine all my nutrients like guano, earthworm castings, seed meals, kelp meal, bonemeal, greensand, etc.,
provide enough water to become moist and let it 'burn' for a week.

This year I plan to activate my EM plus for a week, then add it
to my dry nutrients and let them 'burn' with the added microbes.
I think a dilution ratio of 1:100 would be correct and 2 liters or
2000ml (milliliters) of solution would be enough to hydrate my nutrients. So I think I only need 20ml (milliliters) of activated EM?
To make 20ml activated EM:
20ml distilled water
1ml EM-Plus
1ml molasses

Does this sound like the correct way to procede?

Thanks
1st timer with the effective microbes
ps - adding the Mycorrhizal fungi later, when the seeds get planted.

Make more EM-A in one batch and just find some other uses for it. Mend the lawn, sick trees, the neighbours, pour it in the drain it'll help the local authorities water cleaning efforts.

Let it 'burn' for 2 weeks to one month in your medium.

I would consider following the instructions for making bokashi bran. But substitute the nutes for the bran. Ferment it in a sealed bag. Then compost. Should go quick.

Look into it first, I haven't done this (just saying I would try)

Hi,
Thanks for responses.
I will have to look into various compost techniques...

I do like the way my hydrated nutrients warm up in
a couple days and then cool by the end of the week.
'the burn as I call it'.
But it stinks!
Then nutrients are then mixed with my soilless medium
and sit for another 2 weeks. I have two nutrient recipes,
one for veg and another for flowering.

cheers

Thanks for response,

I knew something biologically was happening
during those 3 days of heat and stink.
But it worked better than just mixing with a soil medium.

I wonder what elements and/or molecules would
be lost? What percentage of the total amount for each?
What might be a better process to make nutrients more
available to the plants?

Any thoughts or links are most welcome.
Cheers

stink = rotten compost

I just add enough water to moisten.
Too much water, things get soggy, very bad stink.

I'm just trying to re-create those old Breeder Steve
nutrient pails. They had the recipe right on the label.
Again, any advice welcome.

yeah the swamp gas smell is your nutrients evaporating, as Fista said.

Acid fermentation would not be the same as your bucket, but it would be cool to try. After that you would mix with soil and cook. It certainly wouldn't smell as you ferment it.

Tell me about those old Breeder Steve nutrient pails and what it is you wish to recreate.

Just add water - then add to soil, I think is the recipe. As in... get a pail of water put some nutes in stir the crap out of it and add to your grow.

Not - add water to the fert pail...

The recipe on the pail looks good. One allelopathic ingredient (sunflower hull) but it's form (ash) might alter it's function in soil.

So tell me - what is your concept of "nutrient compost"? What's it meant to achieve?

Hi again,
I had good results with the those pails,
but that was 4-5 years ago. I would add
water to the pail until the nutrients were moist.
Then after week or so, mix with bail of soilless medium.

My concept of nutrient compost - see "directions for use" on the
pail. I'm sure my terminology is at the beginners level, but I
would like to achieve a healthy medium for my plants to grow.

It has been a long time, but now I'm getting ready to mix up some nutrients with a bail of sunshine mix#4 and I'm thinking about adding some effective microbes. Best ways to procede ideas welcome.
Perhaps just mix water, sunshine mix, nutrients - let sit for 2 to 4 weeks?
Thanks for the help so far.

Ok.

Just get your medium, your nutes, dry ingredients, etc in one container well mixed up. Add EM with dechlorinated water to carry it till soil is moist but does not release a drop when a handful is squeezed.

Leave for one month. Plant.

Exactly as you stated hehe.
