intake, exhuast, timer?

So i just picked the Max fan (12") and (12x39) phat filter. My goodness this thing pulls like crazy. Question i have is how often should i be pulling out the air and bringing in the fresh air?

My room size is pretty big(12X 24) considering i'm only using 2k hps. Also is there a good timer i can get that i can program to come on and off several times a day?

Peace:dance013:

Not looking for temperature control looking to move in and out air. I have seen a digital timer somewhere on here that allows you to have multiple settings. Also how many times per day/ hour should i be doing this? I have a Dehumidifier already no problems with humidity

Why would you trust something as important as temperature control to a "dumb" device like a timer? A thermostat is the only chance you have of keeping temps stable. What if the timer turns on and it's snowing outside, sucking in -5*F air for 30 minutes because you programmed it to? Or 100* air in a heat wave? Timers can't tell if the fans NEED to kick on, and a thermostat can cost you as little as $40 from Farmtek. Not much more than a programmable digital timer.

I just can't understand your reasoning, it's pretty much backwards unless there's something else controlling your temps.

Merr, he just said he wasn't trying to control temperature, so I'll assume he's venting his hoods with a whole different exhaust system.

I think what he's trying to do is just exchange the air in his room, keep it fresh so to speak as well as remove odors. We still need to know how high the ceiling is. I'm going to assume 8'

12'x24'x8' = 2304 ft^3

Your fan pushes about 1700 CFM.

So you're changing the air basically out once every minute and a half. It's really up to you. If your temps are totally dialed in, I'd just get a speed controller and run it pretty much constantly.

Thanks smokin, my ceilings are actualy 9 ft but i figured cuz i'm only running 2 lights i wouldn't need to run the exhaust all the time. I'm a neb for indoors so if i ask dumb questions that's why. I was planning on running AC when the room gets above 77.

Right now it's pretty cool in my garage so no neeed to worry about temps unless you think the 2 lights are gonna create that much heat. Unfortunately no air is being pushed through my hoods for now until i can afford it. Is there a fairly inexpensive speed controler that you now of. Also feel free to tell me any other ideas you may have.

Thanks painroad

Another thing you can do is run that fan full blast for about 10 minutes after hour, that exchanges the air 6-7 times in that whole room, should be enough to fully saturate that room with fresh air, let 'em bathe in it for an hour, and do it again.

I've got a similar question. My room is 11x8x8. I have a 12in. Vortex exhausting my room(hooked up to a speed control). I have an 8in. Vortex pumping air in (also hooked to a speed control). I've got 2x 600w HPS lights runnin 12/12. I understand that you want negative pressure. I'm thinking about running my exhaust off of a hydro pump timer that i can dial in (on for 1 1/2min, off for 2 min). While my intake pumps air in 24hrs a day. Has anyone ever gone this route before? am i headed in the right direction? pros/cons... anything will help.
Thanks.
I was told by another grower that this was his method, seems logical, i would think the plant would have more time to take in the fresh Co2 before it is exhausted and replenished. therefore keeping it fresh all day and night...
