I orderd from HID hut some coco coir that the picture on their site labled as sunleaves. I got the 2 bricks today and it said empire organics on the package. I was actuely happy about it because BEfore I orderd the Good botanicare coco coir I orderd this stuff only to go to the sunleaves web site and find out they dont do anything to their coco like wash it ect. Well empire organics web site lists the PH level and the EC level of their coco and its certified OMRI organic. Gives a bunch of good info. TEsted the run off on one brick in the big 10 gallon tubs I hydrated it in and it tested 5.7 for ph so this stuff is ready to go. Says its super washed.... I will tell you guys how botanicares is. Im starting to become a botanicare whore for all their products...

"At EMPIRE ORGANICS we have a different idea. Replacing chemical washes and steaming commonly used in the industry with composting and extra washes, many extra washes. First after the selected husks have been soaked in freshwater for 2 weeks they are shredded or chopped and sent to be composted for a minimum of two years. During this composting process the coco is being consistently rinsed with freshwater to lower the EC and tannin content along with stabilizing the PH.

After the composting period is complete the product is super washed with clean freshwater and dried multiple times to lower the EC to almost undetectable levels. Once coco meets analytical requirements it is dried, compressed and packaged. This rigorous process is how we provide the highest quality coconut substrates on the market. All certified organic OMRI Listed."

sounds fucking good to me....maybe ittle work better than botanicares.....

Yeah man I've been wanting to try their product for years. I'm actually really glad you posted this thread because I've gone through a few computers since I found out about them but had lost the links and forgot the name.

I remember their product was hard to find though, so hopefully that has gotten easier.

Always wanted to give their coco chips a try or really any of their products peat, coir.

I'm stoked you found this, thanks dude.

I have never worked with coco before so when iw as working with this stuff It smelled like strong I wanna say ammonia like but when i checked the ph level it was great. so Im hoping my half dead PPP is going to do well in this. They got almost killed in my jungle growth neem mix and the sphagum moss/verm/perl/watter agent didnt help either. If they do well in this I will never go back to soil again.
