You may think so but many people do not, and I am one of them. Lots of people have thanked me so far. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to know this info considering your thread starting post...

I am not trying to be a jerk, I honestly don't see what your problem is.

I'll be selling tin foil hats over the next 5 years for $5.99, BUT WAIT, if you buy now I'll give you two for the price of one!

I have a feeling tin foil is going to become quite popular in the next few years.

Big rep to secondtry for trying to give people some real good advice!!

protecting your IP should be important to everyone on here.. Dont know why the OP would get mad about the direction the thread has gone... What did you expect?? Atleast it got some useful information out there.

"If a school can do this, what kind of things do you think everyone's favorite government/spy agencies are up to?" There up to a lot of shit, that's why you should take secondtry's advice about hiding your identity on line..

It is true, I'm sure it's possible but that doesn't mean they are going to do it do people who aren't a threat to society.

They shouldn't be able to use this kind of a thing for victimless crimes.

Hey all,

1. I wanted to make a very important point: a Tor "exit node" can "sniff" unencrypted traffic which is "in the clear" so it's important to use SSL ( HTTPS:// ) when logging into any site when using Tor, and its' best to always use HTTPS:// whenever possible. What this means is when using Tor on HTTP:// (not SSL) the last 'proxy' (i.e., exit node) your internet connection traverses before going to ICmag (for example) can read the data packets (bits of info like what I am typing right now, or a user-name and password when logging in). The reading of data packets can be a bad thing, for example last year a hacker (a good guy, not a cracker) was running a Tor exit node and he sniffed the user-name and password of hundreds of people as they logged into Yahoo!, this means he could access all of their Yahoo! email accounts. Many people whom he had login info for were US State Department personal, FBI personal, US Military personal, etc, along with average Joe Schmoes. If you use HTTPS:// then all your data is encrypted from your computer, through Tor, to the website offering HTTPS:// so the exit node operator can't sniff packets and get any useful info because all info (e.g., data) is encrypted. ICmag login is in HTTPS://

2. ICmag blocks use of Tor to start a membership so you will have to use a computer at a library, cyber-cafe, etc, (or private proxy) so the IP address used when signing up is not your own.

3. There is a whole second Internet on Tor called "TorLand" and is made possible by "Hidden Services". What this means is I can run a website from my house using Tor and the URL is like this "aoyu3h0c89h2aoihanb300.onion". By running a Hidden Service the IP address of my website is hidden, no one can tell where my website is located, i.e., a hidden website. There is a guy with a site called "OnionWeed" who sells clones and cannabis delivered world-wide in TorLand. I do have to stress a dire waring about child porn: there is a lot of child porn in TorLand so if you use TorLand PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not go to the sites which offer that evil stuff.

Here are some Hidden Service sites:

TorPM
This is a fully encrypted PM service in TorLand, just like PMs here but it's encrypted at TorPM.
