Can you outline the ways in which I might get zapped? With the way this is wired, is it properly grounded? I really don't want to worry about working around a hot metal casing if not...

As long as I cover all the exposed leads with lots of hot glue, have secure connections, seal the case back up, and waterproof things...is there any risk of shock/fire?

No worries SF. Distagon, it's cool. I just mean don't hit the bong right before doing this. Get yourself into a professional mindstate beforehand so you don't get a wire crossed, and think as if you were a real electrician. You ever noticed those guys are exceptionally neat and you will never hear one say it should be ok. It's 100% correct and failsafe as humanly possible, every time, or it doesn't pass and it doesn't get plugged in.

If you do everything mentioned, you should be fine. It's a pretty simple setup really. Personally I would use a silicone based sealer instead of hot glue. Peace.

Ok, I have my PSU opened up....and it looks like my wires follow a different color code.

I have a green/yellow striped wire (ground), and then a blue and a brown wire. Just looking around online it sounds like brown might be hot, and blue neutral. Just wondering if anyone can confirm this...

Sorry Paranoid, that link doesn't mention anything about brown wires. And it totally contradicts this link: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_is_...ee_are_a_Brown_a_Blue_and_a_Yellow-Green_wire

Apparently in Europe it's common to see blue/brown combinations, where the blue is neutral and brown is hot.

Distagon, power supplies are built to a standard so the plug wiring is always the same orientation. The wire going through the switch is always the live wire as it's a safety thing.

W=Neutral, X=Line, G=Earth

You can't go solely off the colours safely.

This is interesting. But I thought I would throw this out there for all. The last case I made wired a female plug to the power supplies switch wires so I wouldn't have to cut the plug off the power strip. And if needed I could change things around inside more easily.
