I home grow and home brew.

I am drinking one of my high alc Imperial Ales, with a bowl of Casey Jones topped with home made hash oil!

Life is good.

Drinking my own IPA right now. Casey's got another 9 wks to go. My fav's include Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA, Stone Levitation (Imperial) IPA, Red Hook Longhammer IPA, & Arrogant Bastard Ale.

I did notice nobody mentioned one of the best beers made in America. Pliney the Elder by Russian River Brewing. I consider it the 'greenbud' of beer. It's a great IPA with all west coast ingredients and hops. They also do a beer called Blind Pig.. a little milder, but still a monster IPA. Another thing that's fun to investigate is the various 'wild' fermentations out there. Russian River does a couple.. Supplication and Beatification.. intensly sour beers that are fermented with a wild yeast (bretanomyces). I must warn you tho.. once you develop a taste for the sour beers, you'll become hooked. A good entry level on this style is Dutches DeBorgone (sp?) or Monk's Sour Red (a Belgian made beer made for Monk's Cafe in Phili). Anything by a brewery called Cantillion is great as well.. I'm thirsty...

I wish I could find either PtY or PtE. Don't find it round my parts. So far my favorites are Stone Ruination and Arrogant Bastard with the Double Bastard being better. DFH 90 is awesome, I've never had the 120 tho' Smuttynose Big beer series IPA is yummy too! St Bernadus Tripple is great, but I've never had a Rochefort or Westy 12 to compare to. I'm new to craft brews, but it's fun learning.

when i'm at home i like anything from mendo brewery... sierra nevada and anderson valley r cool too but my main shit is oranjeboom from trader joes; pint cans of some belgian style german brewed lager

at the bars i like a sierra nevada pale ale or, if i'm drinking a lot, stella artois... that beer is getting played out being distributed everywhere but i love it and it goes good with weed and if u don't drink ne other type of beer u can drink it all night

Fat Tire has always been my favorite. Sadly the bottled variant doesn't come close to the taste of tap, but it blows all other beer out of the water IMO. Arrogant Bastard Ale is in close second though. I like top shelf shit.

have u tried anderson valley boont amber ale on tap if u can... gives fat tire a run for its money and like fat tire the bottled version don't come close

they got it at the ferry building in sf at taylor's i know for sure; can't go wrong going there

I agree. My favorite. Nothing better than taking the ferry into SF. Then hitting the Toronado on Haight street and drinking Pliney all afternoon.

manequins piss is amazing(blanche de bruxelles), victory hopdevil, bells two hearted ale (anything bells is amazing) North Coast old Rasputin or red seal, Troegs nugget nectar (tastes great with a nice bowl of nuggets ha) oh and speaking of a good weed tasting beer gotta love the lost coast indica yea its called indica and it tastes like indica haha... ya cant forget roague adn their amazing dead guy, double dead guy and last but not least the tavern first and ten but other than those i drink my Natty Boh (National bohemian mothafuckas) cause its from the land of pleasant living haha (actually not anymore they make that shit in milwaukee now wtf ha)

Dead Guy Ale aged in Dead Guy Whiskey barrels. Whiskey/oak flavor lingers for a while after drinking. Not my favorite, but want to try the barrel aged Arrogent Bastard soon for a comparison.

I like the Mr Beer glass.. I have the hat and wear it to highbrow beer events.. it always gets a laugh or two. Re whiskey barrel aged beers, I personally am tired of it and it's being way over done. The first (that I know of anyway) was by Allegash and it's called Curiux. You might want to seek out some of Jolly Pumpkin's beers.. his are all barrel aged, but usually not whiskey barrels.. I think he either starts with used wine barrels or maybe just new charred barrels. not sure, but there's no pronounced whiskey taste in any of his beers (that I've tried anyway). Seek out the Curiux.. if it's not available in your area, pm me and maybe we can work out an exchange of some sort!

Thanks for the heads up on the Curuix and the Pliney the Elder. The closest area with an exotic beer selection is a 3 hour round trip for me. If I can't locate it, I may take you up on your offer. How was the Darkhorse 'weed' brew? I'm currently trying as many varieties as possible. What are your thoughts on beer of the month clubs?
