S&P fan question

Has anyone ever ran a S&P fan without the ducting adapters? Specifically the TD-100 or the 100x. I'm drafting up a micro cab that has no need for ducting and the space saved would make a significant difference in the required size of the cab and might also mean stepping up in fan size.

Heres a picture of what I mean:

Ive also been searching for a profile picture of either fan so I can estimate the length of the fan body without the ducting adapters(the only dimension not given in the S&P pdf), if anyone can provide a picture or the length of either model that would be awesome.
:thank you:

the actual fan body is approximately 4 inches long ,total 9 inches with duct adaptor, which is also the fan holder ,great fan will last you years

Is that for the 100 or 100x(guessing 100, since its length is listed as 9" in the pdf)? I noticed there is a pretty big difference in diameter, do you happen to know if that is true for the length of the fan body also? That is excellent news either way! +rep coming your way!

the 100x has two speeds, nice quiet fan. been runnin 10 mo straight so far.
it's in the darktime, so i can't help right now but i think those adapters somehow smooth out the air for a more efficient flow - and probably make it quieter.

if in any doubt about size, choose the larger. bigger fans don't work so hard and can be run at a lower speed with a controller- and it gives more adaptability when temps/rh change.

just my .02. good luck with your build!

Thanks for the link Hazyfontazy, from a quick look it seems the UK site gives a little more detail in their dimensioning.

draco bigger is better is normally my montra for ventilation, but I'm starting to think I might just be going overkill here considering anything above the TD-100. The extra power of the 110x for pulling against static pressure is really tempting, but the sound difference is worrying. The volume of the flower area is only going to be about 4.125 cubic feet, which is going to get changed over rapidly. The last micro cab I built only had one of the small Lasko personal blower fans for ventilation and had about the same volume and lighting conditions. I'm only considering stepping up the fan because I want a heavier carbon filter on the new cab.

Oh and about those adapters, the fan is just going to be mounted mid-wall exchanging air between two compartments. I agree, they probably do reduce noise and possibly increase efficiency, but I can take a loss in air flow and hopefully there will be little difference in noise.

I wish I could just use the Stanly blower I have laying around, but that would just be too big for this cab and be obnoxiously loud. Its odd I am progressing the opposite way of most growers going smaller and smaller with each cab, started with a room, then a 4'x8' box, then large cabinet with a 400watter, then to a 150, and now finally to some pl-l flouros in a micro cab.
