Hello all. Thanks for checking out my grow. I am starting this thread about a week late so let me get you up to date. I dont have much growing room so I want these to stay small. I plan to flip them to 12/12 in about a week.

* Equipment *

  • Fridge
  • 400/600 W Nextgen
  • 400 W Sylvania HPS Grolux
  • Scythe KS01 fan controller
  • 120 MM delta fan AFB1212HHE
  • 2 120 MM SilverStone fans FM121

* Soil *
(what I could throw together from home depot)
I used a 4 cup container to measure.

  • Miracle grow potting soil :( 18 parts
  • Perlite 6 parts
  • peat moss 3 parts
  • Dolomite lime 14 tablespoons
  • Blood meal 7 tablespoons
  • Bone meal 14 tablespoons
* Seeds *

I found 7 seeds all in the same bag of Grapefruit from our care giver. 2 seeds were from 2 other random bags.

* Nutes *

I have some Fox Farm nutes on the way. I wish I would have ordered some soil too...

  • Big bloom
  • Tiger bloom
  • open sesame
  • Grow big

2-6-10
I started the seeds in between some wet paper towels that I then put inside a zip lock bag. I put it on top of my audio/video receiver for warmth.

2-11-10
Most of the seedlings are poking their heads up.

2-14-10
After reading some threads on the Jiffy peat pellets and convincing myself that they were stunting growth, I rushed to get them out of there and into the dirt. I removed as much of the peat as I could.

Im getting trigger happy on the camera.
I gave them water today.

Seems to be some noticeable growth each day. They are still just on water and what is in the soil. The pots have been needing water about every other day. I gave them some today.

My nutes got delivered yesterday.Today I added 1Tbsp/Gal of Big Bloom to their water. :joint:

Nice little set up Danktafied!!
Your babies are lookn healthy!
Just a suggestion..... being they are
so young and you used MG,bone n bloodmeal,
you shouldnt have to feed them with anything
but straight water for quite some time!!
Goodluck with your first grow!!!
Keep us posted bro

Thanks for the advice Greenadian. The nutrients are kind of a gray area for me. Based on the amount of blood and bone meal I added to the soil, and whatever Miracle Grow already contains..., when should I start applying some more? Remember that I also dont want to veg these very much longer since they will probably still grow too big. I appreciate the help man. :)

One of my plants started showing this strange purple color just on the new growth. I took a picture as close as I can get and I cant really tell what it is. Is this just the color of the plant?

well id say based on the nutes already in ur soil
plus what you have added,your young plants
will be fine for about 3-4weeks.
So just watering them with plain water for
3 weeks or so youd be fine!!
Im not 100% sure what the purple colour
relates too!? Could be due to the watering
with flowering nutes!? Im not an expert bro

I dont think it has to do with the nutes because I saw the color forming on that plant the day before I applied the liquid nutes. It is still the only plant exhibiting this color. Im just worried that its mold or something.
I will take your advice, no more nutes for a couple more weeks since I added some to the soil. The reason I wanted to start flowering nutes is because I want to start flowering very soon. The amount I applied was half the recommended for seedlings. The directions say its a mild fertilizer that can be applied at all stages so I think I will be ok with what I did.

Well, there is about 2 1/2 feet from the bottom of the fridge to the light. the pot is about 5 to 6 inches tall and they need to stay a few inches away from the glass... a little less than 2 feet for plant growth. The plants can actually grow taller but I would have to keep them away from the reflector. That is why I am flowering them so soon to hopefully keep the height down.

10 days on 12/12
