How can the poll be biased or faulty? i said at the start the poll was based on MY research. And that only the tents i had narrowed it down too should be mentioned in this thread or anything UNIQUE. Now my poll maybe biased to YOUR research, but it isn't biased to mine. Maybe my research is at fault, maybe it's not. You COULD have simply ignored this thread if it wasn't to your liking. The point is many people have questions that need answering, and so visit forums such as this to hopefully find a simple answer. They might take alot of time and effort in starting a thread in order to find that specific answer... Which is exactly what I did. There is nothing wrong with you starting your own thread or poll and mentioning whichever tents you choose. And if you really wanted to be helpful, you wouldn't have wasted so much time ignoring the beginning of the thread and being rude, simply because i pointed out your answer wasn't 100% relevent to this thread, Just because i mentioned grow tent, doesn't mean i want to discuss every tom, dick and harry. I was specific in my question/thread. All i asked was that you treated it as such.

PS... You really shouldn't take too much notice of the date someones profile was created, It doesn't make them any less of an expert than you. I have vast experience with growing and would consider myself an EXPERT in that department, and who knows maybe i could even teach you a thing or two. Even though i have alot of experience with growing i would never be so arrogant as to think i know it all, and i'd never put someone down simply for being new to growing or because there profile join date is a little newer than yours. I'm here to learn and teach and share knowledge, as is everyone else hopefully.

The date below someone's name doesn't mean shit. You're probably rubbing people the wrong way with your arrogance. You've taken pictures of your grows and put them online. You haven't done anything revolutionary, I don't know why you think people should regard you so highly. I'm sure you have helped people, but you're also acting like a conceited asshole, so... :dunno:

I see I am late....but my 2 cents anyways.....

Homebox is what won my vote. Highest quality zippers out of the 3 tents I have owned.

Tents I owned: Homebox XS, HTG (Growbright) 4x4 and a 3x3 new style HydroHut Silver Edition.

The Silver Edition is very high quality but the zippers could be better. Over all, the SE has the best frame but the HomeBox wins for most quality.

Homebox
-Best shell quality...no light leaks
-Best zippers
-Good ventilation availability
-Sturdy frame, but used plastic 3 way connectors.....metal would have been better

Hydrohut SE
-Excellent shell....no light leaks but you can see where there shoulda been more material here and there
-SOLID frame....all metal and the connectors lock together....using metal. Top shelf!
-Great vent options

HTG/GrowBrite
-Overall....junk.
-Shitty roof brackets....more like coat hangers. Had to re-enforce to hang an aircooeld hood
-Shitty zippers.....broke within 6 months. Argh!
-Good vent options....but they make you buy the flanges seperate instead of including one...maybe thats changed but thats how it was for me a few years ago.

Great thread.....go HOMEBOX!!!!!!

PS- Great link PJ!

i vote HydroHut Silver Edition as well - high quality. if you compare the construction of the frame to other tents, you'll see why it's superior. i have had ZERO issues with mine and the only improvement i would give is to have TWO of them because they're so awesome!

None of the above

My tent is the best because it is the cheapest and I believe it works about the same :D
$60 worth of reflectix and foil tape, the metal shelves for a frame were laying around. I just cut and tape the ducts and I'll use heavy duty velcro for the door when it's not in a dark room anymore. The only drawback is that when you open the door repeatedly the crease starts becoming clear so light shines through. I haven't needed to do it yet but I plan to paint the door with krylon or some other black paint.

If you want my .02 I purchased two tents from ebay recently after much research. They are none of the above brand name tents you listed in your poll, but that doesn't mean you or others researching these tents shouldn't consider them. I went to my local hydro store and looked at the grow lab, the dark jardin, and the sun huts. (they have demos of each setup) The tents I purchased are just as nice as any of the ones I looked at. For a 4x8 darkroom the price is around 400 dollars. My no-name 4x8 was 200 SHIPPED. So you would assume my tent must be a piece of shit if it's half the price, right? WRONG. The zippers are strong with draw strings making them easy to open and shut, the outer cloth is rugged and durable, there are plenty of intake and exhaust flaps, the frame is made of metal, not plastic. They are well constructed making them nearly lightproof. (like others said any little leak can be easily fixed. They are simple to setup and take down by myself. So why should they not be discussed? I don't get it? Are you the type of consumer that buys the name brand product just because you've seen it on tv commercials when the store brand is just as good and half the price? If so then disregard my comments and shell out your money for which tent has the snazziest advertising.

Here are my no name tents. Take them as you will...

No i started to poll because "I" was planning on buying a tent at the time, and that is the list of tents "my research" was narrowed down to... Yeah, i believe you get out of something what you put into it. And seein as the major brands are the ones most people hear about, those are the ones i decided to consider investing "my own" money into, as well as the fact my own research led me to these tents. Nothing wrong with your information mate... however, surely if someone is looking for a simple answer, they have the right to be specific in their question, which i thought i was, so that i didn't have to trawl through pages and pages of replies which in actual fact tend to just confuse the situation instead of helping it.

Im sure your only trying to be helpful, however, there is also nothing wrong with you starting your own thread about no-name tents?

Ps...How would you feel if you spent the time starting a thread with a specific question about tomatoes and i came in talking about onions? Play the game mate.

Looking at your photo's though seen as you posted them anyway... at first glance, reflective surface looks ok. Anything mentioned about toxicity on the manufacturers site if they have one? Basically the tents look bog standard, nice frame though by the looks of it with extra trusses in top portion of tent. I can see loads of places lacking vents, infact i cant see any vents, and also from what i can see (maybe i'm wrong) but it looks like a single opening in the front. The fact the Seceret Jardins have toxicity test reports, extra vents and side doors with windows... i'll still go with the DR150.

im in oz and i have just purchased a new one you have not mentioned in your poll and its an indoor elements 1m1mx2m its mylar lined has cool tube vents,as well as 20inch in out vents that can be adjusted according to ducting size, heavy duty zippers, easy set up,pockets inside for little tools and whatnot, side windows and vents all the way round the floor that velcro open and shut, couldnt have asked for more in a tent, and lightproof too!

The brand of the tent's you are talking about is GrowBrite and the reason you don't see them for sale that much is cuz they are WHOESELLERS ONLY!! I found that out when I told the owner of my local hydro shop and he looked up the company and hadn't heard of them and was shocked at the price and they sell lights too.. I think my Grow Brite Mother Keeper is FUCKING AWESOME!! And every bit as nice as my DR80 but I got made fun of for mentioning a cheaper competing product of the same quality...

I really am just trying to help... You and others researching, b/c we all have searched the forums, read the grow tent thread...all 97 pages of it...and this thread seems to be a great research tool for those wanting opinions on all tents available for purchase.

There are vents on 3 sides of the tent plus 2 4" intake holes. And yes there is one door, but they also sell the same model with doors on both sides. Since my room is only 2 ft. wider then the tent there was no need to get the 2 door model. I wouldn't be able to access it. i hear ya about getting what you put in, but you gotta understand those brand names spend $$ on advertising, hydro stores gotta pay rent, and thus a brand name tent gets marked up when in reality it's not even that much more sophisticated than the no name wholesale tents. The description of the tent says there are no off gassing issues. Do a simple search on ebay for grow tents and you'll find the wholesale store I purchased it from, and you can be the judge of how well it would suit your needs. They have models that have the side windows and other features that I just really didn't need.

If you want me to delete my posts I will, my intentions weren't to hijack, just to help you and others researching tents. Again, my apologies for coming off as harsh. Just trying to help.

No mate your post can stay, yes you wre harsh which is why i reacted to it, after all it takes hardly any effort for people to start a thread..and i get sick of reading thread after thread getting hijacked, and post after post arguin instead of posting relevent information to the thread...all people have to do is read the beginning and that will tell you if your information would be relevent to this topic before you go ahead and post it. Im a man of principles and i believe the net is what we make it too... if we cant follow a set of simple rules then it just makes life difficult for us all. I was very specific in my question and im sorry if some people find that an insult, i was specific in my question because it was me who needed the help, if other people can take something from it too then thats good too, but i started this topic for my own benefit. and i do not see why i should spend time asking people to read the beginning before posting all the time. It isnt hard. Anyway, thats that sorted now, lets please focus on relevent posts... The people who have nothing to do except send smart remarks really are just the type of people these forums could do without.

I would highly advise NOT getting a DR150 if a DR120 will suffice. I have two DR150's and a DR120 and there's a major difference people don't realize till they set it up. The horizontal supports on the DR120 are one piece, whereas to keep the packaging size down the DR150's horizontal supports are two pieces. As a result of this design flaw they have a serious weakness. My DR150 has begun sagging at the plastic corner supports and the center of the horizontal supports where the two poles meet. I'm worried it will collapse soon. I already took the fan off the frame to lighten the load. My DR120 isn't sagging in the slightest.

My advice is simple, if you are planning on putting anything more than a small to medium sized reflector in your tent get a hydrohut silver edition. They are the only tents on the market with a truly high quality frame that will actually SAFELY support a reasonable load. I've been having trouble sleeping at night with these Secret Jardin DR's and I can't wait to stop using them for flower. They will be used for veg (smaller lighting/fan setup) and drying only ASAP. Another grand down the fucking drain.

I already thought about downgrading to the DR120, so this reply comes in the nick of time, cheers.
