GH RIPEN ?

Just wonderd if anyone has had experience using ripen from genral hydroponics when growing in coco. It says on the bottle to use in the last 10 days of flowering to increase the active in medicinal plants. 7 of these 10 days plan to be my flush period with an EC of 0.2,GH suggests using an EC 1.8-2.2 when using ripen. Do the plants need a further flush to get the ripen out ,or am i ok running right until
croping time? Any advise would be much appreciated.

This is my first post on this website, so here goes.

The GH ripen formula works very well in coco. I would taper off the EC and flush for at least the last couple of days. You should play around with the #'s and make your own formula based on how your plants are responding.

I don't like it, it's the second time using it and it doesn't make the plants finish any quicker like it says in the bottle. Last time I used it for three weeks and there were still lots of white hairs popping up when I harvested.

Thanx for the quick response OG4ME n congrats on your first post! Not done the forum thing long myself. Its my first ever coco grow and everything has been done with canna products a few ups n downs along the way but mainly ups. Was a little concerned about switching to GH you think it will be ok? Like the advise on feeding them nothing for atleast a couple of days but it mentions nothing on the bottle.

SMC its a 60 day strain and its going a full 60. I dont want to rush them just concentrate the Final product. Perhaps you used it to early and didn't let your plants run there course ?

Love the stuff ..... always finish my chemical coco grows with it

Used according to the bottle (10 days not 21) and a good 5 day flush will see you looking at some sticky buds and it'll burn well ....... Ripen has no N in it so expect leaf yellowing and drop off ..... it's the plants own store of N being used up

Molasses helps to sweeten up the smoke if used in the last 2 weeks, which IMHO it does need

Agreed it doesn't speed things up that much but much frostier plants

Hey PIE, you can do a search for GH's "Koolbloom". It's the same stuff.

Lots of people use it, its a P/K stack.

Life breather just had a look at he koolbloom, i think it must be a US product, it has an NPK of
0-10-10 but the ripen has an NPK of 0-6-5 almost the same your right about that PK stack.

first question

how big are your plants mate?...

7-10 days works on short 2-3foot (table) plants, but for the 5 and 6 foot bohemoths that I grow I use the ripen for 14 days straight, and then 7 days water only flush, with a big flush to get run off EC to neutral on the first day of the flush.

this is because (and you'll see this yourself) when you use Ripen, the plant ripens from the bottom up (as those branches get fed first) where normally a plant ripens from the top down...if I only use the Ripen for 10 days as decribed by GHE then I only see "orange pistils" up about 3 qtrs of the plant..

I also use the full dose of 5 ml per liter, this brings the pH natrually to 6.1 where I leave it, as this is optimal for plants to use up P and K in coco :)

hope that helps
j

edit - one time I didnt get to do the big water and 7 day flush and the end result was still pretty good (and I'm a taste fanatic) :)

No, plants wouldn't finish at all that's why I bought it. I guess you guys are using it for a different purpose. For that I use Hesi PK 13/14 and later H&G Shooting Powder. Rock hard buds : )

JamieShoe great info mate. I tried to keep them as short as poss the're just touching 3 foot from top of the pot. So you would go with using it for 10 days and then a 5 day flush?

Jamie .... spot on mate

Check out the Advanced Nutrients site showing the actual P/K requirement ..... I use 9/18 and the difference is instantly obvious

if it were me thats how I'd go mate... it might take a few runs to get the exact finish you're looking for, but I think you got the right idea :)

I'm using Vitalink Buddy, cheap and it works

There are no micros in it, just P/K/Mg/S .... I put a dash of 9/18 in the rez twice during the time I'm using Ripen

Have you seen the AN vid on Youtube where they show P/K 9/18 is better than 13/14?

Buds like this

Good Luck

What are you using to get 9/18 Hammer head?

Lovely work Bush Dr. What strain you workin with? makes me want to stop topping my plants. That main cola is as fat as your arm if not bigger!

The one on the left is G Force, the other is Master Kush

The G Force is highly recommended, not topped it forms lots of branches that will give 3 - 5 colas a plant by itself, which all need supporting

Grown using a vertical 600, these were part of 8 plants, I've grown 12 in there but yield is the same ..... 22 - 24 oz per run
