600 watt digital Hps Lamps are the easiest for me to aquire, they have MH conversion bulbs but they seem to put out alot less lumens for some reason.

Would i be better off, just adding Some Flo Fixtures to add the blue spectrum in with the HPS lamps for the moms and vegging plants ?

HPS lights are fine for vegging. I would add some Flouros. I get slightly faster growth with MH but if you already have a HPS bulb then I would use that.

I wouldn't worry too much about the spectrum, your HPS will work well for veg. On a side note; my friend just bought a couple of those 'CMH retrofit into an HPS ballast' bulbs and it is the best grow light I've ever seen for both vegging and flowering. No more two bulbs needed. The light companies are going to be pissed when these start catching on!

I've used HPS many times, MH and fluoros and a combo.

HPS is good, but branches stretch up more, MH is the cool because the plants seem to get really fat and bush out well. Fluoros are really forgiving and don't stress plants as much, way less heat and drying out capacity, so plants love it but grow so slowwww in comparison.

HPS with 2X Fluoro T5 compliment worked really nice in Veg and flower, the flowered plants were really frosty and healthy looking!

Why are they better than standard HID bulbs?
