Snow?

I have heard of people using rain water, what about snow? I live in Michigan and everyone knows there is plenty to go around. Just wondering if it is the same as rain water? Anyone?

Snow is frozen rain the make up does not change just because its frozen. Just make sure you melt it before you use it on your plants.:2cents:

i know people who store as much snow as possible in a shallow depression on there land. i mean stuff in there. then come spring it melts and there is a small pond there now. then they pump that water to water there crops all summer long.

You can do it, but you'll need to decide how much water you will need, and if the time and energy is worth it. On a small scale it can work, but seems like it would be a pain for anything medium scale and up.

If you pack a 5 gallon bucket tight with snow, it will melt to about 1.6 - 1.8 gallons of water.
