Whats the chance of getting preadatory mites in FFOF?

Just looking at one of the little beasts and compared to pictures he is not spotted spider mite.. sort of a tan translucent body.. looks like the california predator mite. Can they live in a bag of FFOF?
Is it possible I could be getting something good????????? Or am I out of my f---ing mind???

I have about 40 gallons of LC#2 mixed up and been cooking for two weeks now. I took a little bit and top dressed some house plants and all of a sudden noticed this mite population. The houseplants had had what I thought were white flies, and I had sprayed them with neem oil and gotton rid of them. But as I was adding the top dressing, I noticed one had them again, so I sprayed it down again... Next day, I see mites on the same plant.. lots of them. So I freak out and spray the shit out of them with neem, cussing the ffof I have in the LC mix.
Never had mites before, so I have to assume they came from the ffof.
But, they are that tan, translucent mite, not hairy like a spider mite... and different sizes of them....
Should I thro the lc mix out and start all over? I have seedlings ready for to transplant in another week...... Pisses me off....

Pests are always a possibility in any soil mix by any brand name or provider. Sounds like you might have fungus gnats or root aphids.

I do have fungus gnats, but these are some sort of mite. Just wondering if it was possible to get the good predator mites that eat the spider mites...

Count the legs. If they have eight legs, you've got spider mites. If they have six, it's some form of insect.

Also wondering what the likely hood of mites coming in earth worm castings?? should be low, shouldnt it?
Mites are constantly around, there's not much use in trying to keep them out. It's better to assume that they are going to get in and make your grow room hostile to them so they don't thrive

Well, I have kept them out for years without even trying... must be because they arent around here...
I havent planted in the infected soil, so I think I will throw it outside in the garden and just doctor up my old soil. I can live with the gnats. Not sure I want to play with mites...
