Help with "The curlies"

Hey Guys! I have been lurking here for a while and taking all of the good information that I can. I am relatively new to growing and I need a spot of help. I have a Hydro grow going on with 2 Nirvana white Rhino and 2 Nirvana Northern Lights. Both are from seeds.

The issue is that as my leaves are growing out, they are curling down on themselves and just do not look healthy.

As requested in the lead thread, here is all of the information that I have for you

Ebb 'n' grow dwc
White Rhino and Northern Lights
From Seeds
Plants are 27 days old from germination
Started in rockwool.now in hydroton
plants are about 6" tall
They are in the veg stage
water temp is 70 degrees
the roots I can see are white
Cutting Edge 3 part nutes with mag amp, plant amp and uncle John's blend as directed by the online calculator for full strength
Feeding is happening every 8 hours
res is changed every week
Ph of the tank is 5.5-5.75
600w water cooled hps 1.5 feet from the canopy 24/0 schedule
30% humidity
82 degrees
R.O. water not from a softener
no pests that I am aware of

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not familiar with your nute product....

But I wouldn't be using ANYTHING AT FULL STRENGTH at this stage... and the uncle blend and the cal/mag.... I'd take it out of the pix right now too..

Other than that everything sounds good... good ph etc... if you can lower your water temp GREAT... if not... your still ok for another few degrees...

K.I.S.S. Keep it Simple Simon.. :) Just use your ferts mix em up at light strength..... As the plants come out of it and develop more.... move up to moderate strength..... as the get bigger.. start adding the cal/mag.. assuming you need to if your main fert doesn't provide.

My Point.... Less IS best.... just is.... peace

bergerbuddy is right, thats WAY too much food for little seedlings, and they do look overfed. Remember, we don't make plants grow with our care. They grow, and we react by caring for them. Cause and effect flows from the plant to us, not the other way. Wait for them to grow, then feed.

I'm familiar with Cutting Edge Solutions and their calculator runs very heavy at full strength. Look at this chart: http://www.cuttingedgesolutions.org/catalog/mixing_chart.php

up to EC 4.0 for their veg mix in a drain-to-waste. This is strictly not for cannabis.

The claw is typical of overfeeding, but it can be caused by other factors. Most likely in your case, it is overfeeding though.

The Cutting Edge 3 part by itself is very light on Magnesium (only a little bit in the Bloom), so I must disagree with the second responder and say you should keep that Mag Amped close by.

rileythereputic, do you not own an EC meter? Get one if not. You're really going to need it with a multi-part nutrient program.

Thanks for the info, guys! The general thought is overfed. Should I roll it back to 1/4 strength and see what happens?

What are the other factors besides overfeeding that could be causing "the claw?"

Any cause is related to a reduced ability of the plant to uptake water.

a lack of oxygen in the nutrient solution can be a problem.

I should add that the relatively very low humidity in your environment maybe the cause of the leaves drying out. With 80 degree air temp, your plants will be better off with higher humidity.

I work within these ranges:

18ºC-64F - 35%RH. Max 55%
20ºC-68F - 35-45% RH. <60%
23ºC-73 - 45-50% RH. 34-64%
26ºC-78 - 50-55% RH. 42-67%
30ºC-86F - 60% RH. 50-70%

When you say you are feeding at full strength from the calculator, does that mean you entered your reservoir size, veg. growth and came to the page that lists the numbers for each nutrient and an EC range of 3-4?

If yes, try half strength. EC 1.5 - 2.0 is completely in line with what recirculating mj growers use.

I still think your life would be easier with a meter. Guesswork is easy with a one part nutrient, but not so much with multi-parts.
