New forum suggestion

I would like to suggest, a forum specifically for new and unexperienced growers. A forum such as this that is easily accessible to newcomers and lurkers gives them a chance to post questions that they might be shy of posting in one of the many other dedicated forums, where they may feel their question is unwanted.

Stickys can be made in this forum with links to growing guides, nutrient troubleshooting, male/female identification etc... this will provide a main centre of knowledge for beginners, as well as a place for them to ask questions.

I remember what it was like to be a beginner. Sure, reading and research was important, but sometimes you just need to ask a question. I dont mind answering the same questions over and over, but it should be done in one forum.

Yep, agreed....some people get a little "elitist" after they've had some good grows and act like dicks over newb type questions. Nothing makes me want to punch someone like a condescending tone. A specific place for newbs where it's all about them would be awesome:)

In addition to my earlier post, it also gives a place for those more experienced members that are willing to help a chance offer their help. Most members only visit certain forums, never entering others. A dedicated "newbie" forums gives teachers and students a place to gather.

OK I will get a 'New Grower's' forum initiated.......only problem is who might be up for Moderating it?.....Who ever it is they would have to have alot of patience and a good basic knowledge of growing....

i suggested this a few months back....

you would need a couple or three mods for such a forum surely ??

i wouldnt mind trying if there was a few others....... although i have alot of lineages still to grow, i have so far grown 100 ish strains, i was basically raised in my early years in growing by old school overgrow heads like many were,so i learned how people need things explaining to them because i went through the same thought processes..

i can explain things in a simply scientific manner because whilst growing for the last 10+ years i have also been getting an education in a field that has only helped me understand plants better. i also have a small collection of books i can cite, hope it wouldnt get to that level though, only for the ardent disbelievers.....

i have experience of most technological equipment going, from ozone generators to light rails and co2 controllers, big grow spaces to cab grows, i grow anything from squat indi's to daft bondage loving hazes, 95% of what i know about, medium wise, is soil though i would leave hydro to someone else...

could be trying though i guess..

but i do think its a good idea that will only help you "grow more growers" and i will be in there anyway, if theres peeps i can help do this shit better.......:D

I find myself not asking questions for this exact fact! I search as much as possible!

I would be willing to moderate it... Although I cannot prove that I have experience other than my word, but that is not the point of the forum anyway. Its easy to sift though the bs.

The moderator of the forum needent be some grow guru. Its the members contributions that create the result.

If you need someone to keep order, and watch over the forum, I volunteer.

exactly it just needs to be someone that knows mainly all the simple answers, because thats what 90% of the questions will require....

i'd be down; been here for a minute and i don't think i've ever rubbed anyone the wrong way so much... bored as hell without chat around as is helping people out would give me something to do; regardless i'll probably be in there anyway once its up

I was thinking that maybe links to the various 'how to' boards that have a newbie introduction like the 'Organics for Beginners' thread on the Organic Soil board might be helpful to answer basic questions in various growing styles.

Just a thought.
