I'm also curious if these are known to offgas or are worth the time in general. Found one for like $120 that I wouldn't mind having, although I can get a DR80 semi-locally for $175 after tax so it's hardly worth the hassle.

Don't have any experience with the HTG but tents these days come in two styles, one with a heavy canvas shell and with a thin plastic/leather look alike shell. The thin shells are ok but a lot of time you get pin holes straight of the box and cats claws cut like hot knife through butter through them.

Also all of the tents are made in China in the same factory/factories.

As long as they have a sliver interior you should be fine and just stay away from the white PVC lined ones.

I love my HTG tent, my friend has one too and he likes his as well. Theyre a great price, they are equally as good of quality as other tents I have seen. Unlike higher priced tents their vents and ports are properly place and easy to use, they give you a good mix of 4", 6" and rectangular vents. Zippers are good quality, so are the vent flaps. Over all construction materials is equal to that of other higher priced tents I have seen. Alot of people that bash HTG equipment quality are people that have no experience with them what so ever and simply discard them based on their price. I own lots of HTG equipment, timers, tents, thermometers and fans 6" and 4", all good quality. I even have a few carbon filters 4" and 6", though I cannot speak for the quality of those because I havent used them yet.

HTG is also right on with customer service, if your order gets f*cked up they are quick to make it right. And they load you up with free shit t-shirts, lighters, stickers etc..

Almost forget to mention, when shopping around the HTG tent was the only one to have perfect square footage floor space for the size lights that are intended to be used in the tent, i.e 250 watt light 5 square feet. Alot of other brands have odd sized floor spaces.

thanks for the replies bud bug and iron lion! This is why i finally decided to become a member on this forum, lots of people with good advice and quick replies! Looks like I'll be purchasing this tent in the next few weeks http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=54611 ..... Im going to be posting a grow diary on here soon as I get all my equipment, hope no one gets tired of me, I'll be asking lots of questions:biggrin:

Never heard of a problem with the HTG white tents.

Also, only the Hydrohut clones came from the same factories, not grow tents in general.

Your whole post is just a bunch of things you obviously read elsewhere, some of which are incorrect or exaggerated. I don't even feel like correcting the rest.

Don't be that dude who spouts things off that they read as if they know them to be personally true.

Where did I say the HTG one where off gassing? I said "just stay away from the white PVC lined ones"

The chemical that makes PVC flexible eventually leeches out and kills your plants. Kinda looks like a bad case of thrips. The white PVE lines tents were also fine but there are still places online/ebay that are trying to sell the old PVC tents with out telling people what can happen.

Good save that time buddy.

Kinda like you?

I worked from 2002-2009 in the industry and dealt with plenty off pissed off customers in 2008/09 while trying to get certain wholesalers/companies to credit and acknowledge that there was a serious problem with the tents.

There are too many hydroponics companies out there trying to make a fast buck with the "latest" in products which are half ass designed and tested.

Hey douchebag - nobody here needs your inaccurate summary of the tent offgassing issue.

Gettin' slick over there too? You said to avoid white tents. HTG sold white tents without a problem. Thus, your little blanket statement was inaccurate, just like most everything else you've said.

Dudes like you who run around regurgitating information are useless and poison the well. Just keep your mouth shut if you can't directly answer the question at hand.

Strange you come in here and spout something then the op was fine with the answer.

Yes we are now aware of you selective reading skills

As long as they have a sliver interior you should be fine and just stay away from the white PVC lined ones.

I guess for you selective ass I should have added "Stay away from them if they are PVC lined but PE "should" be ok." Although most tents are now lined with mylar like material.

Thanks for playing!

I used one of them with no offgassing issues. But I will say they are not built very sturdy so be careful hanging fans, lights, etc. I had to reinforce mine with zipties and I was still nervous it was gonna come down at some point. They are also not 100% light proof. Hope that helps.

LOL you're clueless dude - the white HTG tents *were* made with PVC. Didn't offgass.

Yep, you're wrong again and still spreading misinformation.

Who cares who liked your answer when it was full of false information?

Done talking to you. Sorry your little ego got bruised, but you're just mad and whining now because you got called out.

I have an HTG tent as well as an ebay brand tent. Both are silver lines. The HTG did not come white lined as far as I know.

HTG tent is better quality than the ebay one. The ebay has lots of pin holes and pretty stupid door designs. If I could do it over again I would not purchase the ebay one again but would get the HTG tent.

sup, "leonidas..."
long time, mate.....
anyways....

pro/con of the tents/HTG that i've found thru the years..

Ill start with the CONS since there arent that many.

CONS:
--1st tent i purchased from them was a package deal....tent...hydro setup....rez...tables...light...hood..etc....
anyways...it all came in one big refrigerator box that had forklift holes in it. anyone with a nosy personality could have EASILY poked their prying eyes inside and would have EASILY known its contents. rockwool cubes scattered all over....light box easily identified.....etc etc....
the package was obviously mistreated in shipping or processing/packing.
I called and expressed my discontent with "Tony."
Long story short: Got a discount on my next order.

--got a new 600W digital ballast from them....digital greenhouse i believe the brand was.....anyways.. the thing died on me in the middle of flower on its first rotation. displeased was an understatement. if i didnt have a spare ballast, alot of prized plants would have been ruined, in my eyes. anyways...i swapped out a replacement while i got on the phone with tony...again...
he initially wanted me to box and send it off for a replacement and ONCE HE RECEIVED IT he would ship a replacement. I told him this would take over a week, and, he didnt know i had a spare to swap out. not important, imo. i bought a product, NEW, and its should work...anyways...after 20 mins of listening to my 'dislike' with the whole situation, he saw my side and shipped a new ballast, and TWO new bulbs, overnited THAT DAY.
that chilled me out a lil bit.
--the 'metal' frame that comes with these tents arent the strongest materials out there. the frame is aluminum rods, or tubes, that interconnect (like a fishing pole) and are cornered with plastic 90 degree corner caps. while this is sufficient for the tent, adding any kind of real air enclosed hood will make those top supports sag. i ended up going to home depot and getting solid steel rods as replacements and havent looked back since. just something to keep in mind, if you plan on hanging a light (god forbid anything else) from the stock bars with the tent kit. personally....i felt they were weak, but, are just strong enough to do the intended purpose. id recemmend some sort of DIY support tho.
--velcro strips were added; and small modifications here and there had to be made for me to think it was *perfect* but this is a SMALL gig, and should be expected by most of us that purchase these types of things....
.... especially if youre a more seasoned grower that likes things they way they like things. neat and tidy. and simple and effective. but i digress.... a small CON, but, felt it warranted mentioning.
NOW..
onto the....

PROS:
--prices.
tough to beat 'em. and ill be the first to say, as far as the tents go....their quality is comparable to most other models out there. where this tent lacks, others may excel, but, for overall value and price, i can recommend them.
--mostly functional design
holes are placed in good places thru the tent and are of sufficient amount...(rarely do people need to ADD more holes to it). perfect sized tents to match footprint of varied HID lighting...white walled, and the newer 'foil' lined design both reflect adequate lighting. again....the MAIN drawback for me, was the LAME aluminum framing, but, also like stated, is JUST enough to get the job done.
materiale is pretty sturdy and is lightproof. i even stood in one fully zipped up (after adding velcro) in a well lit room and saw NADA light while standing in there for 5 mins. works for me. waterproof design stands up well to multiple cleanings and no issues with 'off-gassing' etc were ever experienced by me with these tents.
-customer support
while im a believer in the statement "you only know how a companys customer service is, is if you have a problem with said company."
this being said....with the problems i DID have....and the amount of verbal abuse they heard, i gotta say.....in the end...after all said and done....for the prices they offer and the quality of equipment that ive received, id say, i would recommend them. even after a bad first experience, AND, a ballast that blew on its first run. they remedied BOTH situations with satisfation on my part....overall.

aight...i need a bowl after that.

these are strictly MY opinions based on first hand knowledge of all aspects of HTG from the product to the customer support.

mileage may vary, and this is offered, simply, as another customer testimonial to ponder while trying to decide where to shop.

hope i was able to help.
